1. There is no-one at reception until the afternoon, so it is impossible to reach anyone if there is a problem, or even if you want to check out manually and pay the bill.
2. The toilet seat in my bathroom was loose.
3. No-one came to clean the room before I returned at around 2.30 p.m. I then saw three people in a room down the corridor and asked them to come and clean. They came. A man was in charge of two girls who were obviously learning. One simply folded the duvet and put it back on the bed. I asked him to straighten the bottom sheet, which he then did. In the bathroom, the towels were changed, but they did not leave a bath mat and did not even attempt to tidy up.
4. The breakfast was of a poorer standard than before. Previously there had been smoked salmon, now there was none. The orange juice machine had run out and there were no more “English Breakfast” tea bags. The woman who runs the breakfast room was nowhere to be seen. The scrambled egg was unmentionable and, whereas you could previously order a 4 minute boiled egg, they now simply have hard boiled eggs available.
All this is a pity, because the rooms are still the nicest in Halle, even though they need a little updating with the electrical fittings. If the service were aby good, this could still be a 4 star hotel, but, as it is, it is probably 2 stars.
