InterContinental Hotels HANGZHOU ICC by IHG

We had stayed at an InterContinental in another city before, and the service and breakfast there were much better. First of all, the breakfast here is not what you'd expect from a 5‑star hotel – very modest. No salmon, no good coffee, and no decent pastries. Secondly, the kids' playroom doesn't feel safe for children to play there anymore. Thirdly, the service could be much better. You don't get the feeling that you're truly welcome. But the biggest disappointment was the pool. Unfortunately, we happened to come during a period when it was closed. We had booked our stay about a month in advance with a non‑refundable rate, and literally just before our arrival, they closed the pool. This really upset us – especially our child, as it was his birthday. On top of that, the rooms feel outdated. We won't be coming back and wouldn't recommend this hotel. The spherical design of the building is interesting, I'll give it that – but everything else is not worth the money.

We just love this hotel, in and out! It's a beautiful building. The room sound proof is very good. The breakfast buffet is huge and good. We have been upgraded to a nicer room and we loved it so much that we decided to stay one more day! The only down is that it is the hottest season and the swimming pool is closed and that's why we are not staying longer).

Had a really good stay, room was fantastic food was excellent, staff really do go out of their way to help get you anything you’re looking for.

Good for business trip, English speaking, cooperative and professional staff. But room rate is high.

It’s a very good hotel overall. Amazing views and location however the amenities are outdated. No smart TV, which should be a standard feature for a 5 star luxury hotel like this.

The view outside my window is splendid. With the huge windows, it's comfortable just sitting there looking out. The room is huge and comfortable. The breakfast is excellent. It may cost a little more but every cent is worth it.

The room is clean and tidy. Strategic location with easy access to many places. Staff is helpful with good service.

Excellent value for money. Clean, modern, spacious, refined. Had everything I needed. The breakfast and all time dining restaurant is fantastic.

Go for the view and ambience. Judging it as a 5 star it’s not very clean and it’s a bit old. Furniture have cuts and cigarette burn marks, walls and carpets are stained. You can tell it’s been cleaned but the hotel is old and some stuff are permanent. The appliances are dated as well. There is no in room delivery you have to pick up your own, something that even 3atar hotels have nowadays in China. Breakfast is ok and plentiful. The view is amazing. Comparing to western standards it’s ok but if you compare it to what China has to offer the not so much. I would recommend visit for 1-3 nights to experience the view and find something else for a longer stay.
