I’ve been coming to Champneys since I was in my late teens, so almost 17 years now (which makes me feel old!!) I thoroughly enjoyed my 1 night stay and facial and think that Henlow have really upped their game since I last visited a couple of years ago. Good bits: - Food is excellent, the menus are varied and food is fresh and well prepared. I had a vegan curry today and it was delicious. Well done to Champneys for providing several vegan options- it’s better for the environment apart from anything else. There are still several choices for those who’d like meat or fish. - Hot buffet at breakfast is a nice touch- you always had to pay extra for a cooked breakfast before. - Swimming pool remains lovely, and the new indoor and outdoor jacuzzi features are great. - My facial by Laura was superb. - Service by Rosina for breakfast in the restaurant was excellent. - New Hideaway relaxation area is great, although a bit ruined by a couple having a loud ‘discussion’ outside the door! - Had a lovely run along a route that was recommended to me by Reception on my last visit. Areas for improvement: - I agree with others that bedrooms need a revamp. I knew what to expect and wasn’t surprised but do think it would be a surprise for a first timer! The room was very clean though, very quiet, and the bed was comfortable. I was happy as only ever use my room for sleep. The hotel are doing their best with what they currently have I think. - I don’t understand why the products in the swimming pool showers aren’t Champneys, and some of the products in the bedrooms aren’t either? Firstly they didn’t feel ‘luxury’ but also it was such good advertising- I have bought several full sized versions of the samples in resort before. - Paying for classes- this is absolutely terrible. Aqua and country walks are still free but anything studio based is at least £3. I used to really enjoy classes at Champneys and it was an important part of the experience for me. I won’t pay for it though (I’ve paid enough for the break and it’s reasonable to expect classes to be included on a wellness break). I can only assume that Champneys have taken this decision to keep classes for members only? - I was surprised that charges for staff tips are added to the bill (£5). I’d rather pay slightly more for my break as his implies that staff aren’t paid properly/ tips are needed to top wages up. - Return vouchers are always offered but I didn’t buy again this time as the offers didn’t include treatments- please put a return package together which does! - General restaurant feedback: I had to ask for water at every meal- this was always supplied automatically before. Also, I said I was vegan when they asked about allergies but was still given dairy butter for every meal and had to ask if this was vegan, and then if it could be changed for Flora. I think this is a bit of a risk- it’s good that they asked about dietary needs but as a guest, it’s reasonable to assume that once you’ve told t
