Green Lodge, Wirral by Marston's Inns

My husband and I went for a celebration meal at The Green Lodge last night. As it was a Thursday we thought that it would not be so busy and so we didn't book. When we arrived it was really busy and we didn't expect to get a table, but a member of staff called Jim asked us to wait a minute and came back shortly, then leading us to a lovely table for two. The food we had was not long in arriving, despite the kitchen being so busy, and it was fresh, hot and delicious, as always! The service from all staff members was wonderful. We always feel that we are treated like real people in this pub and that they can't do enough for us. Small details such as bringing a spoon for me in case I want to taste my husband's desert as I was too full to order one, shows thought and care and this does not go unnoticed. Thank you so much to Jim and the other staff for making our visit so enjoyable; you weren't to know that this was a special night for us as we didn't let on. We ate at a Michellin guide establishment recently which was lovely and a different experience, but, we have had just as good service, care and food at the Green Lodge and would recommend anyone to visit.

Excellent staff, fantastic food, good value, brilliant portions. Very helpful staff, especially Jim and Corina who sat us. We will be back. Although the pub was busy, nothing was too much trouble. Highly recommend the Camembert sharer starter, hummus and the buttermilk chicken burger

We went with some friends on a Friday evening as party of a big birthday weekend. The menu is excellent, the food and wine delicious with friendly, attentive service from all the staff. A welcoming atmosphere every time we go with good prices.

Friendly people, tasty food and lovely atmosphere. Feels like being at home but with beer on tap! Love it, came here when I was 7 and people were smoking inside and drinking brown ale, now it’s just the best, sunshine in a bar. I haven’t been to the hotel in years but look forward to trying it. Give the calamari a go with some lemon, delicious!!!

As a group of five family and friends we had booked a table for Easter Sunday lunch at the Green Lodge. The staff are always friendly here and we were given a table on the lower floor. The food was good and they also offer a good choice of alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks. Cocktaiks come in at around £7.95 each. For the five of us the bill came to £166.10, so £180 with tip. As the meal, drinks and service were all very good we considered this good value for money. Well worth a visit if you are in the Hoylake area. The car park is large and the venue is dog friendly. Between the five of us we ordered starters of prawn cocktail. Liver Kate and BBQ cauliflower wings. For mains we chose fish and chips, pan fried sea bass, roast turkey, steak & ale pie and sirloin steak with pepper on sauce. For drinks we had a mix of cocktails, Pinot, Guinness 0.0%, Capuccino and Latte.

Popped in for breakfast. Long wait for it to arrive, which i wouldn't mind if it was going to be good quality. Sausage, poor quality and shrivelled up. Bacon, dried up streaky bacon, very fatty. Beans, dried up, obviously over microwaved. Hash brown, soggy and soaked in fat. Toast, cold and rock hard, butter fresh out of the freezer... Tomato, well i have never had a tomato for breakfast straight out of the fridge, no effort to cook or even warm it up, in fact the only effort here was to cut it in half. Eggs, well at least these were cooked and edible. Not really a breakfast I would recommend to anyone.

Such a nice cozy atmosphere and the food is 10/10, big portions deliciously cooked and plenty of choice!! Staff are absolutely lovely too! Would 100% recommend we come here regularly, I had the chicken kebab and caramel tart and both gorgeous

We WERE to be travelling from the back end of Wrexham all the way up to The Green Lodge as we have eaten there in the past and, as a registered Coeliac, I have to know I can eat "safely" as it is most certainly NOT by choice that I am gluten free !!! Anyway, I just made the customary phone call to double check they still cater for me, BUT, the manager there (Karina Rogers and I apologise if I've misspelled) knew absolutely NOTHING about her restaurant, her cooking style and when it came to putting me at ease, well, we travelled elsewhere !!! She said that it was a bad line when she didn't know the answers to my question and rang me back on her mobile TWO minutes later as, obviously, she needed to ask someone for the answers, but STILL could not answer them ha ha !!! Then, she said I (yes I) was being aggressive when I was just trying to secure my safety at eating at her premises !!! If I'd have eaten food that wasn't "safe" for me on the Friday evening, well, I'd be ill ALLLLL Saturday and Sunday and maybe into the working week, but, I was being aggressive for asking questions on eating safely there - YIKES !!!
