Ideal Beach Resort

Our stay at Ideal beach (25th May 2024) offered a mix of both delightful and disappointing experiences. On the positive side, the buggy drive around the property was enjoyable. The breakfast served was hearty and fulfilling, featuring a great variety of well-prepared dishes, including South Indian and Continental. Additionally, the room service was excellent, with prompt and courteous responses to all our requests. Our rooms had a beautiful partial-beach view. However, several aspects of the room facilities did not meet expectations. The bathroom was inadequately lighted with no proper ventilation, save for a small dirty window covered with wire mesh that barely sufficed.The room air conditioning unit was old and lacked the potency to adequately cool the room, which was highly uncomfortable in warm weather. One of our rooms were not properly clean as we found clumps of hair under the dressing table and we also had stained bedsheets. Furthermore, the television was too small for the size of the room, which detracted from the overall enjoyment of watching. Another significant drawback was the WiFi connectivity, which suffered from frequent drops, making it difficult to stay connected to the internet. While parts of the stay were enjoyable, the room's comfort and technology amenities made our stay discomforting. Ideal beach resort can boast beautiful landscaped gardens and pools, but careless attitude to room facilities downgrades the overall stay experience.

Beautifully maintained resort with comfortable, immaculately clean rooms. Easy access to a beautiful beach and conveniently located for visiting the gorgeous ancient temples in Mamallapuram. Spacious restaurant serving generous portions of tasty food.

I can’t believe that more people haven’t found this gem of resort just 50 mins out of Chennai. This 1970s style Ideal beach resort hotel, offers a stunning beach view and the best ever cooling breeze beneath the big permanent umbrellas with great beach side drinks service. You can literally look at the view, the goings on or read a book for hours without moving, the breeze just makes it perfect. Don’t let the retro look put you off, the staff are wonderful and the chefs are amazing. We choose to eat vegetarian whilst there and both the veg kebabs were excellent as were the dried cauliflower and dried potato dishes. This restaurant though has many talents we also tried noodle dishes and freshly made spring roles at dinner and beautiful kiwi or mango muffins and banana cake for breakfast ***** with superb normal Indian cuisine. This venue is used for conferences and there was one on whilst we were there, it didn’t cause us any issues in fact it enhanced my experience as I enjoy people watching and it was great to hear the enthusiasm for their team building exercises. Just a 350 rupee taxi ride into town to see the 7th Century stone temples, Krishnas butterball and the Arjuna’s Penance carving. If you need a couple of nights chill away from the hassle and bustle of life and are happy to have some space, check it out, it really is Ideal and good value for money. A very special thank you to the young Nepalese lady who welcomed us to our meals and kindly phoned me of a morning to ensure our jet lag meant we didn’t miss breakfast so polite and a smile that made us feel very welcome.

The resort is clean and well maintained overall. The upkeep is very good. The staff is friendly and accommodating. The room type we booked was not available in the ground floor and my mom can't climb stairs. We were upgraded to a better room on the ground floor for no additional charge. The staff were also hospitable and accommodating to all our requests. Access to the beach is excellent. The beach is also quite clean. We will definitely come back here.

I’ve been coming here for 25 years and have stayed 15-20 times over the years. While our stay was still lovely, the property has fallen into disrepair. It feels a bit grungy and lacks the cleanliness it used to have. The conference center seems to have distracted from the resort feel. The room smelled musty and things were dirty and broken. The restaurant and food are good. The pool is nice, but the infrastructure around the pool needs to be fixed and better maintained. There are many 1/2 finished projects around the property that feel disconnected and distract from the beauty. Honestly, I’m not sure I’ll be back which is sad.

Great place, very kind staff, we had a day package, with that we got good team play time at beach. Food was really great. With great place and Weather was so awesome, all team members had great time.

One of the best Beach resort I visited in Chennai.. Hospitality was very good... Receptionist and staffs are soo welcoming... Our Stay was wonderful... Area is so peaceful and beautiful... Best resort to relax ourself...

Excellent Hotel with great service and Food Selection, taste and quality was too good. Enjoyed with my group here. Special thanks to Restaurant Manager Raha for his service and kind attention. Love to be here again.
