Ru Boutique

Visited this place to have breakfast with my friends while we were in Kandy. From the beginning staff had a long face and treated us rudely. No one was welcoming and didn’t had a smile on their faces. We asked one server whether we could arrange the breakfast outside in the garden area. He said they only arrange garden breakfast for foreigners and not locals. How pathetic. Then i kept saying him why can’t you arrange that for locals? With a long face he turned back and went. There were no other guests at the hotel at that time. But they were not even bothered to give a good service for locals. Do not visit this hotel. Food is terrible and the staff even terrible

Superb, elegant, luxurious hotel on the lake in Kandy, just 15 mins walk round the lake to the Temple of the Sacred Tooth and the city centre. Comfortable, well-equipped, spacious, spotless rooms. Beautiful dining room with a wide range of foods on the menu. Small swimming pool on the roof that was impeccably kept (a staff member rushed out with towels when we went out there). Dylan the manager was very welcoming and we were well looked after. Highly recommended.

Our third stop on our tour of Sri Lanka. Quality hotel with lots of charm and character located by the lake. Excellent views towards the lake and the fruit bats from our balcony. Very comfortable room, lovely breakfast and evening meal. Attentive and helpful staff, Dylan, the manager, was especially friendly and welcoming. Great looking plunge pool but sadly not available to us during our stay because of a water issue in Kandy at that time. A visit to Helga’s Folly nearby is worth the effort!

This hotel had beautiful views over the river Kandy. It was a great location for visiting the town. The restaurant serves more European food but it was very tasty. Service was good and everyone was friendly. Thre was a wedding whilst we were there which was lovely to see. There were no issues with us taking any photos or with the manager has some posts have mentioned.

Ru Boutique is a colonial style small hotel renovated in recent years. The Superior room was excellent (large room and balcony looking towards the lake). Despite the proximity to the lake road, the room was quiet. The dining room is intimate and suitable for the number of guests. The restaurant meals are excellent and reasonably priced. The location is a 20 minute walk along the lake to the central shopping area. Overall very relaxing and quiet compared to the larger resort hotels.

We had a lovely room with a king size bed/tv/fridge and everything you'd need in the bathroom. The breakfast was plentiful and varied. Started with freshly prepared fruit and fruit juices. loved the porridge and banana bread. The view of the lake from our balcony was so beautiful. Highly recommend this hotel for a touch of luxury and the personal touch.

Very nice hotel with only 11 rooms. Charming. Great spaces rooms and clean . Very friendly staff. Nice bar and good food. Breakfast was nicely arranged and served. We felt a very warm welcome. The price/quality was perfect in balance. Thanks

Lovely room with very attentive staff. It was my wife's birthday (today) and a shame that we only stayed one night. Thanks to all the staff especially to the lady on reception (sorry) the young men who carried heavy suitcases to and from our wonderful room, and also to Susantha and his team who prepared breakfast and a birthday cake! mmm.

Ru Boutique is a lovely hotel. Our room was very comfortable and spacious and the location on the lakeside was excellent. The service was very good and all of the staff were attentive and courteous. There are a few things to bear in mind. The restaurant is small and has a slightly limited menu but the food was tasty. There is no bar serving wine or beer so you cannot have a drink in the garden or lounge area but you can request a drink in your room via room service (the reason for this was not clear). The wifi is pretty poor (if such things matter to you). Nevertheless the Ru Boutique was a great hotel to stay at and was excellent value for money.
