Das Johann

Nice facility and the room was comfortable, clean and modern. Breakfast was a good continental spread No-one was at reception to greet us, but the key handover was all organised and a quick (english speaking) phone call from the reception phone had it all sorted. Bar was never open when we were there, which was a bit disappointing but there are others in the village.

I've stayed here a few times and it's always been comfortable and friendly. They have recently renovated the rooms and added a very attractive bar area, which also serves a limited dinner menu in the evening. The new look really works in my opinion and makes it an even better place to stay. The rooms are well equipped, including an Illy Espresso machine. The bathrooms are high quality and the decor is tasteful and welcoming. The new bar is very nice, they have an interesting selection of wines and gins (I wonder if the sommelier from the Fuxbau helps choose the wines?). We didn't eat here in the evening as we'd already booked other places, but in future we'd certainly consider it. The menu looks quite small but the food did look and smell excellent. The wellness area is the same as before, it was always very good so no need for renovation. It's not a huge facility so it can get a little busy just after skiing.

Das Johann is wonderfully located in the Arlberg ski area. Albona 1 lift is just 2 minutes walk to the hotel from where you can reach other areas in Arlberg. Skiiing back to the hotel was also very easy. The rooms are efficiently designed and very clean. Maybe not so big but quite enough for a skiing trip. Breakfast was good and sufficient. Restaurant offers a limited menu and we dined there for one night and all was tasty. Hotel staff were helpful and very friendly. Stuben is a small and calm village. A good location to ski in the various areas. Overall I recommend Das Johann for a good stay for Arlberg skiing.

Great hotel.....stylish interior, super helpful and friendly staff, comfortable room, a brilliant bar which serve amazing food. Only a short distance from the lift in a beautiful village. What's not to like!!!

Das Haus ist eigentlich recht schön und stylisch renoviert, auch die Bar und das Restaurant. Die Zimmer sind allerdings sehr klein, aber ausreichend. Allerdings ist kein Kleiderschrank vorhanden. Schön, dass Bad und WC getrennt sind. Die Dusche im Bad ist katastrophal, die Glastüre zur Dusche lässt sich nur cm weit öffnen und wird vom Waschtisch blockiert. Selbst als schlanker Mensch muss man sich in die Dusche hinein zwängen, für Menschen ＞ 85 kg wohl nicht möglich. Der Skiraum ist viel zu klein, gerade 2 Personen können sich dort fertig machen, alle anderen machen das stehend im Gang. Anschließend geht es über eine enge steile Treppe raus. Der "Wellness" Bereich verfügt über 4 Liegen, ansonsten muss man sich auf eine Holzbank setzen, im Keller nicht sehr schön, auch riecht es nach Abfluss. Eng und Dunkel. Das Personal versucht einen bei Wünschen immer zu erziehen, zb wenn man einen bestimmten Tisch reservieren will, das geht nur mit Nachdruck und Nachhaltigkeit. Gast ist nicht König. Es gibt groteske Begründungen, man müsse schauen wie Abends die Verfügbarkeit ist (das kann man doch auch jetzt klären und Abends war es immer nur spärlich besetzt) oder Käsespätzle gibt es immer im Frühstücksraum (externe Gäste sitzen problemlos im anderen Raum). Auf ständige Diskussion hat man im Urlaub keine Lust. Man hat das Gefühl, als Gast um alles zu betteln. Das Essen ist für die Qualität zu teuer, der Zwiebelrostbraten war zäh, wenn auch geschmacklich gut. Die Rezeption scheint zu schlafen, so gab es keinen Hinweis, dass der Lift (nur unweit entfernt) wegen Sturm geschlossen ist. Service - ein Fremdwort. Besser man investiert nochmals 60€ pP / Tag und geht in ein richtiges Hotel.

Sehr nett und unkompliziert, freundlicher Empfang trotz Nebensaison. Das Hotel kombiniert prima und sehr entspannt Vorarlberger Tradition mit coolem Design. Tolles Frühstück, nettes Personal. Einziger Nachteil, den ich sehe, sind die teilweise kleinen Zimmer, und die kompakten Gänge. Sommer prima, im Winter wahrscheinlich eher bisserl eng.
