Origin Hotel & Apartments

We have just got back from two weeks at the Origin. Excellent location, no more than five minutes to the beach and resort, where there are loads of lovely restaurants and bars. Rooms are basic but a good size. We had a one bedroomed apar**ent with two balconies (twin beds in one room, single in the other). There was a fridge, a kettle and basic cutlery/crockery. The bathroom was tiny but luckily we aren't big people. This was the only room that wasn't the cleanest - lots of hairs clogging the drain when we arrived and often a strong bad egg smell when the water was run. You have to pay more for safe hire and air conditioning. We managed most of our first week without it but paid for one unit for the second week (there was one in each room). We didn't use the pool as we prefer the beach but there were always lots of people around it. The beach is lovely but sunbeds cost €5 each, although some of the restaurants offered a slight discount if you ate with them. We spent most of the time at the Faros beach restaurant and were often not charged at all due to having lunch there most days. The Origin bar is open 24/7! There is karaoke every night from 10.00 and, although it could get noisy, the doors are shut at 12.30, so it didn't affect the rooms. There is no pressure to eat or drink at the hotel. We ate out every night and only drank in the bar 4 or 5 nights but the staff were always more than friendly as we walked back through on the way to our room. Prices have definitely gone up and we spent around €150 a day on food, drink etc, compared to around €100 on previous holidays to Greece. Beers were around €4.50 cocktails from €6-8, meal for three, with drinks averaged around €65. Overall, we had a really great holiday and absolutely loved Kardemena.

Booked hotel after reading reviews. That was a mistake. We had also seen that some rooms suffered from noise, We emailed a request for rooms that where away from the bar, When we arrived we had been allocated a room above the bar and also the so called penthouse room for our daughter. The room above the bar was large but they play music through the night to 5am/6am and the loud music comes through the ceiling off the bar and sleep is virtually impossible, The Penthouse room is old ,the smell on the way up to it is of sewage, The water constantly stops in the room, also the door cannot be locked from the inside, This was reported however the response was you can lock the door which is on the way up to the room and we will repair in the morning, After 12 nights we are still waiting for the door lock to be sorted and not willing to lock the door on the way up to the penthouse as this would be a risk if there was an emergency such as a fire. When asking to be moved from the room above the bar we where given the answer that it would be looked at when they had time but would be a few days, and we would be better off flying home or moving hotel at our cost. Everything is an extra in the hotel .Wi-Fi is poor in the rooms so be advised not to pay for this. Breakfast was poor quality ,often cold and and the cups for hot drinks are dirty.Pool area is small .If you get a room away from above the bar(not the so called penthouse as that is not fit to be used)then it may be an ok place to stay as location is good but it is not worth the risk of ending up in one off the rooms above the bar. If you want to cook in the room then this is impossible as you have a fridge and a kettle only. We have stayed in many hotels across Greece and this is by far the worst experience we have had. Also please get a safe and put everything of value into it as we had money and Trip tickets go missing. Didn't report as we knew what the response would be. Cleaning is poor.The resort is very good and we made the most of it however it deserves better hotels then this.

Return visit - following a trip had last year to same accommodation. 1st experience last year was - ok it’s basic , but it was friendly and central location . We had a good deal and decided to return this year ( 3 female friends for long weekend ) First impression - is oh no it’s a bar , you walk through to the back and there is a hatch for reception and stairs to the accommodation / rooms . It’s ok to get your head down when on a holiday with friends , not suitable to take the family . Overall it’s run down and old . The cleanliness of the rooms isn’t 100%, as balcony’s had hair balls gathering . Air con is extra . 10euro a day . Per unit / you can choose to add this on or not . This is powered by the typical card slot used for electricity in many hotels / apts . Apparently adding your own cards to the slots - ‘crashes the systems ‘ this doesn’t happen , and there are no posters anywhere to request you don’t add your own cards to the slots . We paid for the air con , added our own card to the power slot whilst out etc - as the air con is poor and takes ages to actually cool the room . I think the hotel have power meters they watch - and when you leave they enter rooms . they entered our room when out, and removed our own bank cards from the slot with no explanations, no apologies , and removed them from our room , they denied doing this , reported it was maids - even though reception has a poster reporting no maid service on Sundays . The owner / manager became hostile , rude , intimidating, and not helpful whatsoever . 3 females travelling , we felt like we wanted to leave , he did not understand that the bank card was our source / access to money tht evening . We should have called the police in reflection . The manager / owner said he would contact maids to ask them where our cards are …. Whilst waiting we walked through the bar to go out for an hour as we felt unsafe and unsettled at the accommodation , it was clear the remainder of staff had been made aware of the incident as the usual friendly staff were rude again , and dismissive towards us . The manager / owner ignored us , and clearly ordered the other manager to tel us they had found our bank cards . There was no explanation as to why they had been removed from our room , no apologies regarding the incident . Two guests stood by the bar when manager / owner was shouting at us, looked at us concerned and could see we were upset and intimidated. Another observation - On return to the apar**ents the day before this incident the manager (same as above with long hair ) made reference sexy ladies etc as we walked passed - again this made us feel uneasy and unsettled ( didn’t have these experiences the year before ) Appalling experience. Easy jet holidays have been made aware of the incident . Won’t be returning due to this . Manager / owner clearly needs to practice customer service skills , and have more respect towards guests .

Great place with excellent customer service, 24 hour bar with karaoke every night from 10-1am, rooms were always clean, once you get into your rooms its quiet and no music is heard in the rooms.

Great place to stay. Plenty vibes, local to all shops, bars and beach. We had a nice big 2 bed apar**ent on a Room Only basis (not self catering) you can come and go as you please. Competitive prices in the bar and kitchen food. Staff were all great and a big shout out to Marcos who keeps it all on schedule. Excellent apar**ents .Basic but staff are all friendly and go out of their way to help you enjoy your holiday.Pool is very nice with sunbeds.Karaoke every night and great cocktails.Very central to shops and beach.

Great little find , clean , tidy and roomy . Well stocked 24/7 bar , food available daytime and pool with plenty of sunbeds. Marcos and Costas excellent hosts , welcoming , helpful and nothing too much trouble . Front of hotel quite noisy with road outside and loud music /karaoke til the early hours but we were at the back and once the doors to the pool were closed we didn't notice it . 100 yards to beach ,shops and bars . Cant be bad !

A warm welcome on arrival, staff very helpful and friendly. We stayed as a room only basis, room was spacious and clean. Reasonable priced drinks with a great a**osphere in the bar. Fantastic central location. Recommend for friends and couples. Great value

Me and my wife have just returned from a wonderful ten night stay here.he had room 101 which is one of the superior rooms and i can honestly say we had no complaints apart from the room being roasting even with the air con on.but its greece in the summer so not alot you can do about it.yes you pay for aircon and safety deposit box but i have always had to when sc/room only so no complaints there as prices reasonable.room had a tv kettle a cpl of mugs and a fridge perfect for having a coffee on the large terrace he had.maid was in every day for a quick tidy and emptied our bins.towels changed every 3rd day and linen once a week.pool wasnt the biggest but was clean and no problem getting a sunbed.this could be down to people having a few late nights in the 24hr bar.we ate at the pool a couple of times and it was reasonably priced and very tasty.can i just thank everyone at the origin who work really hard for making our stay a very enjoyable one and we hope to see you again.yamas from craig and karen.
