Sontacchi is a modest drive from the airport but a simple enough one to make. Its worth it to avoid the heaving crowds of tourists at the coast and it was nice not to hear an English voice for a few days. The B&B is in a lovely setting and with a car your able to drive out to a lot of nature for short, medium or long hikes, depending on what you fancy. There was an offer of a free wine tasting which was brilliant. I enjoy wine but I am often hesitant to do wine tasty due to the snobbery that surrounds it. The chap, Anton that did ours made you feel at home, and the session was enjoyable. We ended up buying 3 bottles because of it. The rooms themselves are a little dated in their decoration, or certainly are by English comparisons. But they were spacious, clean and where very good value. There was free wifi and internet which was more than fast enough. This was good because the local area has poor phone reception. Both the wife and I, who are on different providers found problems with their local phone services. Data services would often fail. I recommend using apps like TomTom where sat nav maps can be downloaded in advance. Our stay was really good and we left it wishing we could have stayed longer. My only criticism is that on the day and hour of check-out the exit was locked from the inside. An exit that had been open 24/7 allowing us to freely come and go. From a customer service perspective there's nothing worse than locking your guests in with no way out. It exuded distrust, the idea that they believed we would leave without paying our bill. An innocent mistake or not it left a negative after taste, and it was completely unnecessary. For this reason, I have taken 1 star off their rating, otherwise it would have received 5.
