Urban Hotel Kyoto Nijo Premium

Located near nijo castle. Hotel also great and spacious. Back of the room is railway. Can see train every 10 mins. Also near to life supermarket. We bought many chocolate at cheap price as souvenir. Breakfast quite good. Friendly staff, can check in early with no charge. Near to bus stop to go around. Neighborhood is quiet which is good and more calm, not so touristy

I stayed for 4 nights from January 4 to January 8, 2026. From the hotel, you can walk to Nijo Castle in about 10 minutes. There are many small convenience stores nearby (7-Eleven and the like), as well as two large supermarkets — Life is open until midnight, which is a huge plus. You can buy nice gifts for friends and family late in the evening without wasting daytime hours. The transportation access is great too: within a few minutes' walk there's a subway station and a JR line (convenient for coming from the railway station), and right next to the hotel there's a bus stop. This is important because Kyoto's sights are scattered all over the city, and you often need to use public transport or taxis. Speaking of taxis. Twice I asked the reception to call me a taxi, and both times the staff helped me — a huge thank you to them! It was especially important on the first day: thanks to a taxi, I made it to Kiyomizu-dera Temple in time and explored it without rushing. Check-in was very quick, and the staff explained where everything was. The room was quite spacious — or maybe it just felt that way. I comfortably unpacked my suitcase and took out everything I needed without feeling cramped. The room had all the essentials, and there were kettles near the elevator that you could take to your room if needed. I did, and had some tea before bed (on the first floor, you can grab a free tea bag if you don't have your own). The air conditioner worked for both cooling and heating — which was very useful on some evenings. Honestly, I only used the hotel to sleep, and it was perfectly fine. Every morning, breakfast is served on the first floor. To be honest, I expected something simple since the room rate was quite affordable. That's why the breakfast was such a pleasant surprise! My eyes wandered every morning at the variety of delicious food! A huge selection. Every day I had rice with various toppings, amazing salmon, cod, and various vegetables (the okra here was especially good). There's a small smoking room on the first floor with good ventilation. My overall impression of the hotel is extremely positive. I will definitely stay here again on my next visit to Kyoto.

Room is small. Average breakfast. Available spa and sauna to guests. Washer drying available at x5 100¥ coins. Overall comfortable stay

I stayed with my wife and 5 months old son. The service was good. Clean, Decent amenities and good service. Would stay here again

Clean and hygiene hotel. Convenient to travel around. Hotel come with onsen at the top floor😉

The biggest drawback was the size of the room for the price we paid. We could not even open our suitcases on the floor. There is no water in your room, you have to go downstairs to have a drink of water. Do not have breakfast there, it's too expensive (if you cannot eat everything) . There is a supermarket (LIFE) a few meters away with a very nice bakery. The hotel do however have all the toiletries available next to reception counter. Also coffee in the mornings from 6.30am with water and juice. A sauna and a hot pool, but you have to be in your *************. Not suitable for everyone. I enjoyed our bathroom the most, as the shower was amazing.

Clean and has their own bath house at the top floor that opens till 1am. Next door is 711 and also a large supermarket with in few minutes walk that opens til 12am. Location wise is just a bit far from the metro. Parking wise, there is a few around the back. Overnight Parking fee is a bit high and limited.

We really enjoyed our stay at Urban Kyoto Nijo Premium Hotel. The service was excellent, and the staff were very attentive and kind. Our room was cozy, spotless, and had great sound insulation, which made it easy to relax after long, eventful days exploring Kyoto. We would gladly stay here again!

Excellent place to stay. Free public bath spa in the hotel. Plus: PJs and extra toiletries like makeup remover, cotton pads provided. Lunch: Good lunch buffet with homemade tofu. Value for money. Laundry: Coin machine at 400 yen a cycle. Good value. Venue: Walking distance to huge local supermarket, pharmacy and a nearby neighbourhood mall, BIV. Near the world heritage Nijio Castle. Bus stop just outside. Feels safe in coming back late as the hotel is just next to the main road.
