We have stayed at the Sundowner Motel since Jeff and Ann owned it. Probably has to be 30 years now. We were sad to see them leave, but glad that they retired. Good for them. The new owners, who own a couple of places in Lake George, did some remodeling and the place is beautiful. Everything has a log cabin feel to it. They combined 2 rooms and made one large that sleeps 10. I think they have several rooms like that. Also, several of the rooms now have gas grills outside. The beach area is nice and clean and the grassy area has a fire pit that you can use. We were having a family reunion and our son purchased wood and starters and our niece's husband had the stuff to make S'mores, so we did that one night. Now, on to the staff. Every single one was very happy to help us and accommodate us in every way. Very friendly and great to talk to. I met one staff member on the beach who was cleaning the gas grills down there. There are 3 down there. I started talking to him and asked about the grills. We had brought hamburgers and hot dogs to cook on the beach but had forgotten utensils. He said he would be glad to get them for us if we needed them or we could inquire at the front desk. His name was Kay-Jay (not sure of the spelling but you get the idea.) and he was extremely pleasant to talk to. There is another staff member that I would like to point out how he was towards me. First off, I am 68 and need to walk with a cane for several reasons, one of which is I have diabetic neuropathy in my legs and feet which kind of makes it painful to walk after a while. I am also a heart transplant patient for the last 18 years which causes me to get tired and out of breath when walking a distance. We had taken the Minne-Ha-Ha pirate cruise on Thursday night with our grandchildren and were walking back to the hotel. On the way, we stopped for ice cream at Ben & Jerrys' and continued on. We got to Shepards Park and I had to rest, It was already about 8:45 and we wanted to get back to the Sundowner to see the Thursday fireworks from the beach. After resting at Shepards Park for a while we continued on. I was trying to rush and got to the Surfside and had to stop again. The fireworks started and our granddaughter was already on the beach and we were not there. We started off again and got back to Sundowner but still had to go down the hill to the beach. We were at the top so our car was right there so my wife said she would drive me down. I said no and tried to keep going. I joked and said if one of the staff with a golf cart came by we should borrow it and do that. Then we noticed a golf cart with a couple of staff people sitting in it watching the fireworks. My wife asked about it and the driver, who said his name was Dean, said he would be glad to drive me down. He not only took me to the beach, but he got out and assisted me down to the water's edge where our daughter was waiting with our granddaughter Lily. He stayed with me fo
