I stayed at the Tok Jah Guest House for two nights during my recent solo trip to Malaysia. While I had pretty low expectations, I was pleasantly surprised with the hopitality and care shown to me during the stay. Ofcourse, this is not a hotel with plush facilities but the way they treated me, I was bowled over. Here are some more thoughts into my experience. 1. Location - It is very close to Pantai Cenang beach, the hub of touristy activties. Also there is a hawkers food market that happens right besides the guest house. So overall a very ideal location to stay. 2. Accommodation - The rooms are basic in most ways but are ideally equipped to support your stay. I had taken a double room and it came iwth a kettle and was air conditioned. The washrooms are again basic but serve the purpose. I opted for a groud floor room which made it easy to do to-and-fro runs to the car as I get quite forgetful. 3. Food - They do not have a kitchen so this isn't applicable. The nearby hawker market is great for street food. Alternatively, a number of restaurants at a stone throw's distance. 4. Hospitality & Service - Amazing hospitality and service which was way ahead than some of the starred hotels. Pretty quick check in over fun banter, quick offer of helping with multiple international adapters when he realized I had one, arranging a table fan when AC took some time to cool the room calling my tour manager when the pick up was delayed...and I could go on and on! 5. Others - There is ample parking for most days but not sure if a rush hour would be accommodated.
