I recently stayed at Quebecs Hotel in Leeds for one night, and I wanted to share my mixed experience. The location was convenient, especially given my unexpected overnight stay due to a train cancellation. The room was clean and had a great location near the train station.
However, I felt a sense of unease during check-in, as my boyfriend and I, both Asian students, seemed to be treated differently compared to other seemingly wealthier guests. It's disheartening to feel this disparity in treatment.
One notable issue was the lack of transparency regarding extra charges. While there was a notice about minibar charges affecting our £50 deposit, there was no mention of additional charges for toiletries. When we requested a toothbrush set, we were given it without any mention of the extra cost. It's not about the money (£7 in total), but the hotel's failure to communicate these charges upfront is disappointing and feels dishonest.
Moreover, being placed on the ground floor, we expected some external noise, but the loud chatting between receptionists and other customers at 9:30 am was quite disruptive. I understand that noise is inevitable, but I believe the hotel should take more care in minimizing morning disturbances, especially for ground floor guests.
I do not think this level of customer service reaches 4-star hotel standards, and I hope the hotel takes steps to enhance the overall guest experience.
Overall, my stay at Quebecs Hotel had its positives, but the issues with transparency and the feeling of being treated unequally left me with a less-than-satisfactory experience. I hope the hotel can address these concerns to improve the overall customer experience.
