The hotel had apparently been closed for several months for a refurbishment. However, the room, which was a executive with a balcony, was tired and dark. The carpet was dingy and stained. Red nail polish had been split on it too. The shower room was good, clean and with new fittings. The lighting in the shower room was terrible! Couldn’t see to shave or to apply make up - it was just too dimly lit. The bed was very large and comfortable with good quality bedding and linen. No bath robes or bottled water - this was clearly stated on the website that they would be provided! Breakfast: no restaurant in the hotel! Again, clearly stated on the website that they had one. Breakfast was provided by a cafe two doors away. Very basic food provided - no cereals, no fruit, no fruit juice, no pastries. Full English provided. All the above is what one would expect for breakfast when staying in an hotel One cup of tea or coffee. Second cup of coffee had to be paid for. The cost of breakfast was £11 each which was included in the price of our room. The cafe advertised full English for £8.95! The hotel reception staff were lovely, polite and helpful. However, I would not stay there again
