Skjolden Hotel

All of us were blown away by this unassuming hotel located in a quiet and breathtaking spot on the fjord. We had a family room which was quite spacious and had a little balcony. Very comfortable - simple but contemporary. The hotels lobby and many seating areas are tastefully and thoughtfully decorated with no detail forgotten - all with outstanding views. We ate at both restaurants all 3 nights we were there and it’s quite possibly some of the best food in Norway (even beyond) The pre fix meal was outstanding - I would even say Michelin quality. And last but not least - the hospitality and warmth of everyone who worked there was truly something to be remembered. I hope to get back to Skjolden hotel. As others say - a true hidden gem that exceeded our expectations.

I was pleasantly surprised by how amazing this hotel is. I came in bringing with me a group of 16 pax, and the hotel dealt with us perfectly well with a smile and an excellent behavior. The view from this hotel is absolutely stunning andI enjoyed spending little time in every corner of this place! Big thank you to the owners and all staff.

I loved everything about the hotel from check-in to the beautiful corners and the views! Everyone was friendly and smiley and the food is excellent. I came in with a group of 16 people and the hotel team managed to offer us the best service and make our short stay very memorable.

The Skjolden Hotel is a perfect place to relax in the extreme beauty of the Norwegian nature with the luxury of a nice hotel with excellent food sourced by local providers. The owners and staff we very friendly and accommodating. The room was very comfortable with an expansive view of the fjord. The food was excellent in both the set dinner in the formal dining room and the a la Cart dining on the deck. Both sites overlook the beautiful gardens and fjord. Breakfast was also excellent with plenty of local top quality choices. The location of Skjolden is a great location for hikes, boat rides and day trips to the national parks and glaciers.

The hotel was pretty, clean and comfortable But the owners treated us really unfriendly. We did not feel welcome as guests and the service was neither warm nor courteous. Very unfortunate for a hotel that prides itself on tradition and local spirit.

Sadly, we were treated very unfriendly by the owner. The opposite of a warm welcome and goodbye. And sadly not a sign of conflict resolution, understanding or excuse. We leave very disappointed! Good food, but very basic rooms. You can hear everything from the hallway through thin walls, especially the elevator is disturbingly noisy, at least in our room.

The location of the Hotel, the view of the fiord from the room and the breakfast. The rooms had very thin walls, we could not sleep, as we could hear people in the adjoining room talking till late at night and snoring after that. We had prepaid the room and when I offered my prepaid forex card for payment of dinner, which was not nice fish and chips, the Manager took the room price off my card again. On being told that the room was already paid for, she said she always takes payment directly, so I should not worry, whereas on ***********, payment is handled by Booking, not by the Hotel. Only at my insistence was Booking contacted by her and informed of the situation. Booking has said the amount paid directly to it, will be refunded, I am still awaiting the refund.

Owners are present and lovely! I am grateful for having been upgraded to a fjord-view room. Pretty and comfortable and with a view to die for. Great food and drink as well. Highly recommend, and would stay there again myself.
