This was my first time staying at Babahouse, and I really loved the concept and traditional style of the hotel. From the moment we arrived at the lobby, we were warmly greeted and welcomed with a complimentary drink coin for the entire stay — 1 coin per person, per room. Since we had 2 rooms for 2 days, we received 4 coins in total. A nice little touch that made us feel welcomed. When we entered our rooms, they were generally clean, tidy and comfortable. However, in one of the rooms, we noticed some mould on the towel and also on the bed. We understand that this can happen if a room has been unoccupied for some time, especially with the humid weather. We also noticed that only some of the room windows have coverings, which may contribute to the room condition. Hopefully, the management can pay extra attention to this. The weather outside was extremely hot, with no rain for the whole week, so the first thing we did was turn the air-conditioning on full blast! We also tried the gym and really enjoyed it. Although the gym is small, the space is sufficient for a simple workout. They also provide towels and drinking water, which is very convenient. Around the hotel, there is Rumah Kechik Café and also a hidden bar on the side, which adds to the overall charm and experience. During our stay, we didn't drive around much. We mainly went out to Jonker Street and simply walked from the hotel. It was easy and convenient, and it also saved us time from dealing with traffic and finding parking. Overall, I really enjoyed my first stay at Babahouse. I love the traditional concept, atmosphere and location. With a little more attention to room maintenance and cleanliness, I believe the experience could be even better. Definitely a place I would consider staying again when visiting Melaka.

The room, while small, was very clean, just right for two people. The amenities were spotless; this is probably the cleanest hotel in Malaysia I've stayed at in terms of toiletries. The hairdryer provided was also high-end. Best of all, the staff spoke Chinese, making communication very easy, and they didn't require a deposit. I also have to praise the breakfast – it was absolutely delicious!

The location is superb, right by the Dutch Square (Red Square), just a few steps away from Jonker Street Night Market and the Melaka River Cruise jetty. You can explore historical sites during the day and the night market in the evening, saving a lot of travel time by not having to go back and forth. The building features a retro Nanyang-style design. The lobby with its black and white tiled floors and arched windows creates a wonderful ambiance, perfect for taking beautiful photos. The rooms are well-maintained and feel new, offering spaciousness and comfortable bedding. Some room types even come with projectors, making for a very relaxing stay. The hotel also offers DIY craft activities, which looked like a lot of fun for the kids participating. The front desk staff were very friendly. When I asked where to exchange currency, one of the ladies even circled the location on a map and gave me detailed directions, which I really appreciated. Check-in and check-out were both efficient, and they offer free luggage storage. The hotel has its own cafe, making dining convenient. Staying right in the heart of the old town's attractions, saving on commuting time, makes this hotel highly recommended for family trips.

This hotel definitely has a lot of character. Let's start with the positives: the lobby is absolutely stunning, steeped in history, and truly a sight to behold. The breakfast was also a highlight, offering a great selection of unique fruits and dishes. The dining area itself was comfortable, cozy, and elegant, making you feel like you're dining in a historical masterpiece. Now for the downsides: the hotel is quite old, and the facilities and equipment are showing their age. The bedding was also not up to par; the duvet in our room was stained with what looked like blood, and we had to call someone to replace it. The soundproofing in the rooms is poor. While being on Jonker Street is convenient for exploring, it also means traffic jams every time a vehicle tries to enter, making getting in and out a bit of a hassle. If you prioritize unique character and historical charm, this hotel might be for you. However, if quality and attention to detail are your main concerns, I'd suggest looking elsewhere.

From the night before check-in, the hotel already impressed us with its thoughtful service. We received detailed arrival instructions, including directions via Waze to the car park located behind the hotel. Upon arrival, staff were waiting for us at the back entrance and kindly escorted us to the front desk for check-in, which made the whole process smooth and welcoming. The hotel also offered complimentary afternoon tea around noon, which was a lovely gesture after our journey. The property features a unique and elegant Nanyang-inspired design, creating a warm and sophisticated atmosphere. Our room was exceptionally spacious and comfortable. The bed was excellent, and we appreciated the choice of three different types of pillows. A wide variety of complimentary snacks and beverages was also provided. To make the stay even more special, the hotel manager personally wrote a welcome card for us. The bathroom was well appointed with a full range of toiletries, and the bathtub was wonderfully large. The only minor drawback was that the hot water became cool halfway through filling the tub. Breakfast the next morning was served from a menu with both Western and Chinese options, offering a good variety of choices. Overall, this was a truly impeccable experience. It was clear that the hotel genuinely cares about every detail of its guests’ stay. We felt warmly welcomed and well taken care of throughout our visit, and we would not hesitate to return.

Facilities: Very charming, with a strong Nanyang (Southeast Asian) vibe. Cleanliness: Excellent. Environment: Great. The location right by the river makes it convenient for walks, and it's not far from Jonker Street, so you can easily explore all the attractions on foot. Service: Excellent. They offer service with a smile, and the staff are very warm and helpful, even opening doors for guests.

The room was clean and tidy, and the mural on the wall outside the window was beautiful. It's run by a Muslim couple who offer great service. The AC wasn't very cool, but they came to the room right away and fixed it. The location is excellent, within 200 meters walking distance to the Maritime Museum, Jonker Street, and the Red House. My only minor issue was that I wasn't used to the food in Melaka; most of it was Muslim-style cuisine, and restaurants didn't provide free hot water, charging 3 MYR for bottled water.

The location, room, and staff were all excellent. It's just a few seconds' walk from Jonker Street and a few minutes from Dutch Square. The room was stylish and clean. However, once the weekend night market starts, Grab cars can't access the area. I thought it would be fine in the morning, but it wasn't. Thankfully, the front desk attendant kindly showed me a designated pickup point and even guided me there. The breakfast with choices was also a nice touch. If I ever visit Malacca again, I'll definitely consider staying here.

Good location but it's a bit noisy during night time especially someone sing on the stage. Room facing the main road of the Jonker Walk will have difficulty as the sounds from outside continue until midnight. Rooms are good but the walk up stair might cause some problem for elderlies as it is narrow and deep slop.

Cleanliness tip top. The room is so spacious, and has many amenities provided. Receptionists also give nice services (except for 2nd night abt parking....) This is a very good hotel especially when you can book it with a budgeted price. The hotel also provided a snack and drink from the vending machine at the reception hall area. The only problem is the room is not soundproof enough. I can hear the next room customer laughing, chatting in the middle of night (maybe they just came back from Jonker Night Street Walk). But it's kind of disturbing for us to get a good sleep.
