Beach Hotel du Lac Malcesine

We are staying elsewhere in Malcesine, we visited the hotel restaurant this evening and had a very poor dining experience. My lasagne was cold, it was returned and when it came back it was lukewarm in the middle and warm on the outside. What made it worse was that at no point did anyone ask if the food was ok, even after it was returned! I got a lukewarm apology…which was only slightly warmer than the lasagne…So if you like your food cold and poor customer service this is the place for you. Don’t be lured in by the view, there are plenty of other eateries that offer better food and much better customer service in the centre of Malcesine.

My lasagne was cold, it was taken away and brought back much warmer, but only around the outside.. don't most microwaves have rotating trays!? To compound the poor food, at no point did anyone ask if the food was ok, even after it had been brought back! I got a lukewarm apology..it was warmer than the Lasagne. So if you like your lasagne on the cool side and very poor service this is the place for you.

Fabulous Hotel. Situated on the lakefront. Views to die for. We had a Large balcony overlooking the lake. Spotlessly clean. Staff all friendly and helpful without exception. Breakfast was delicious with lots of choice including hot dishes. Cannot fault this hotel . Stayed in august 2023 and would not hesitate to book again. Lovely 10 min stroll by the lake to the beautiful town of malchesine. Stayed bed and breakfast but often had a meal in the beautiful open air restaurant overlooking beautiful Lake Garda . EXCEPTIONAL HOLIDAY. Thank you.

I’ve travelled a lot around the Italian lakes, this is my favourite location. The hotel is lakeside, with views over Garda and the mountains in the background. It’s a short lakeside walk into Malcesine, which has nice restaurants (try Da Nikolas.) The daytime views are superb, as mentioned, but at night the picture perfect Malcesine and it’s castle are lit up, the reflection of this on the lake from the Hotel du Lac is breathtaking - truly one of the most serene views I’ve seen in Italy.

Fantastic hotel. Lakefront, amazing views friendly staff. Family suite, very spacious twin beds in the main room overlooking the lake, single room and a further twin room at the rear. Spacious bathroom. Well appointed mini bar..with Moretti needed after a long journey! Beach lots of chairs and pontoon overlooking the lake. Bring footwear for the lake as the rocks make it painful getting in! Pool area at the back very quiet and lots of seating. Gets the sun all day. Make sure to visit Bar Oasi for drinks. Staff work very hard, helpful on reception. Well run all in all, thank you to all the hotel and its staff, Book this hotel!

The "security" tried to remove us from the hotel for coming back after midnight. He said that he would remove us from the hotel for "being loud" when all we did was get back from the bar. Sorry you didn't get an invite mate. Boring. Basic hotel. Basic breakfast. Security are basic and can't actually function as a security job. I'd rather trust my mother for security than them. Rediculous.

Just returned from a wonderful week in this excellent hotel in this idyllic part of the planet. We loved it. If booking, get a lakeside view. The back rooms just don’t have a view! We did have a lakeside view on the second floor, with a good sized balcony, two sun beds & two chairs. We could sit in the sun or move back into the shade. Nice spacious room, en-suite, fridge, with in room bar in it & a safe which is free of charge. We’ve stayed in nicer but not at this price; great value for money. We had B&B option allowing us to explore options in town a 15 minute stroll along the lakeside to or go the opposite way to lakeside restaurants with great choice & bean bags for those wanting a more sedentary position. The old town is a treat, was not full of families so perfect for couples and groups of friends 40+! Boat trips to other venues were plentiful as were bus services & bike hire. The adventurous had plenty to keep them excited on water, in the air or on mountain bike. Our day trip to the top of Monte Baldi was a treat. We struck it lucky as we were a short walk away as a storm had just passed by so no queues. We’d heard others tell horror stories of long queues. Again we were lucky when we got to the top, it was sunny, warm & views of the full lake available if you chose to walk to a spot away from the top of the cable car. As you can gather we’ve loved our stay. It was northern Italy by the side of a mountain range so the weather was changeable but 75% of sunshine and close to 30c temperatures isn’t something to moan about. We’ll be back to this hotel & Malcesine - highly recommend it!

We had previously visited this hotel in 2018 and were glad of the chance to return. We especially enjoyed the amazing view over the lake from the balcony of our room. The bed was very comfortable.The breakfast remains excellent with a great variety. The hotel is spotlessly clean. We enjoyed swimming in the pool and from the hotel jetty into the lake.Pool towels are provided which is a bonus. Staff were helpful and able to give us advice about boat and bus timetables. Unfortunately due to a strike by air traffic control we had a significant delay on our departure and missed our first night in the hotel. The hotel was very good and didn't charge us for the missed night. This was particularly appreciated per the terms and conditions I had resigned myself to losing this money. I would be happy to recommend this hotel.

We have just returned from our stay at this hotel. It has been really excellent! The location within Malcesine is perfect, a short walk along the lake from the town, passing a brilliant bar Oasi enroute. We stayed in a family suite which was ideal with a double room and 2 small single rooms, not sofa beds which really made a difference to us! Nothing was too much trouble for the hotel. We enjoyed sunbathing on their private jetty, jumping straight into the gorgeous lake. They had a paddle board and kayak that we hired for a minimal charge and had loads of fun using. We didn’t have lunch or dinner there but the breakfast was great with a variety of choices each day. They do a cake and coffee offering for free in the afternoon which was a welcome treat. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel to anyone, ideal for people visiting for a wedding, a family holiday or a couples retreat…don’t hesitate to book here!
