Wielewaal Bush Lodge

The hosts were extremely attentive to make sure we had a great time & were comfortable. Honesty bar with good selection. This is a great place for a bush experience, food was delicious. Will be back in near future with more time

The most beautiful, eclectic and lovingly decorated lodge in an estate teeming with free roaming wildlife. We enjoyed amazing meals prepared by Retha and staff, and the best hospitality and welcome from Willie. This was the best place to arrive to after a long flight with kids. Location was a close 30 minutes to Kruger's Crocodile Gate. Besides that we enjoyed time simply hanging around the lodge, having drinks, and watching wildlife stroll by.

We had a fabulous relaxing time. The owners and staff were always very friendly and helpful. I would recommend Wielewaal Bush Camp to anyone that needs a getaway and a relaxing peaceful break. We will definitely be going back again

Imagine a breakfast for a King and Queen. You are in the bush, a sumptuous feast before you on a table adorned with a riot of colour, scent and taste. The attention to loving detail is stunning. A single mongoose appears quickly followed by a swarm of jostling fur, twenty or so darting bodies scouring the ground for offerings. A line of warthogs, some small, others big, meanders towards the table and down on their front knees, they begin to snuffle up the vegetable peelings thrown out for them. All this within touching distance. Several stately Kudus emerge from the brush, mystic beings, and elegantly take green bananas from your hand. Impalas, blue wildebeest and Roebuck enter from the wings - this is breakfast. Wielewaal Bush Lodge is a wonderland. Willie and Retha, the hosts, joyful, attentive and caring, have created a world of extraordinary beauty. An endless collection of historic, quirky, fascinating objects, an exceptional decor full of African mementos fills thatched rooms - a dining room, bar, lounge and various seating areas. Every nook and cranny is a new revelation, an Alladin’s cave, a treasure trove of vibrant colour filling you with wide eyed wonder. Dinner is a performance. The Boma (BBQ area), situated down an exquisitely paved path, is a circular amphitheater, tribal patterns painted on the walls, candlelit, with thrones and tables facing the central fire pit. Drums usher in the procession of the food, a feast for the senses and our hosts appear to share the intricacies of the Afrikaans gourmet food laid before you. Their dedication to their guests is outstanding. Your every wish is immediately taken care of. And for the uninitiated to the Afrikaans culture, they are a treasure trove of knowledge and personal insight. A special oasis of joy and beauty. Perfection.

Was really nice our stay at Wielewaal! Breakfast with zebras and other animals The dinner fantastic! Super clean! The owners are solicitous and affable, makes you feel like home. If I come back, I come back to the same spot over and over! Really a super nice hotel!!

Fantastic to stay in a luxury tent surrounded by wild life. Everything was fantastic. Hosts putting their souls into the lodge. Very well decorated and comfortable. What about having breakfast with impalas, gnus & zebras?

In October 2022 we stayed at The Wielewaal at Marloth Park in South Africa and it was really one of the loveliest places we have visited. The owners, Retha and Willy, were the perfect hosts: very friendly and warm and they really made us feel at home. Furthermore Retha is a great chef and in the evenings – at the Boma - they served the most delicious food… It was very difficult to resist taking another portion. The accommodation itself is very colourful and has so many hidden places that you can retreat in silence to read a good book while enjoying a delicious glass of wine. The breakfasts were spectacular: not only the food, but also the seating in the forest where zebras, monkeys, kudu’s, wildebeest’s, warthogs and other animals surrounded the breakfast table. When we were there, we decided to extend our stay and when we left to go back to Jo’burg for our flight back home, I really felt homesick, wanting to go back to this lovely little hide-away at Marloth Park. For golfers: Go and play Kambuku Golf Course at Komatipoort; only 30 km from Marloth Park and what a lovely course. Dear Retha and Willy, thanks again for your hospitality. We really enjoyed our stay. The accommodation and lodge facilities are beautiful and so creative and unique. Good and service is awesome and the location amongst the wildlife was a real highlight. Thanks for an amazing stay.

Great place with excellent food and location. The hosts are very friendly and the service is very personalized. The place is very clean. Everything was perfect organized according to our wishes. I can just recommend it.
