Stayed 2 nights. Clearly the hotel prides itself on its ambiance, service and tradition, and it does deliver that. With an old fashioned feel, it’s surprisingly large, but still a charming ryokan with a truly amazing set of onsens. Seems to be a romantic weekend getaway, with few westerners here, and not much English spoken, but the courtesy and attention to detail by staff is amazing. Dinner is very traditional Japanese, breakfast a more cosmopolitan buffet - both very good. On the negatives - I felt they overcharge for alcoholic drinks - a small glass of beer, often only 3/4 full (and it’s hard to complain about that when it’s delivered with such courtesy!) was ¥900 or so. Phew! The bed was not really very comfy - doona was great but the mattress was past its prime, the edges collapsing when you sat on them, and the pillows were lumpy. Plus it IS quite an expensive place to stay. But it was an experience- and I enjoyed being there.

Less than 5 minutes walk from JR station, my moderate twin room is very spacious and comes with a work desk. Beddings are very comfortable and plenty of amenities are provided. They even have complimentary supper service at night. We didn't get to try the breakfast but they look great with a lot of varieties. This is a great place to stay in Matsumoto.

When I booked the hotel, the reviews made me think that it would be good but not amazing. However I was really disappointed. Although not terrible, this hotel was below my standard. Within a short walk to the amazing Matsumoto Castle, the hotel seemed like a nice historic place to stay and enjoy. The hotel itself is rather plain and uninteresting. The room was big but not cozy or really comfortable. The elevator smelled like gasoline as did the basement floor where the women's bath is located. The public baths are small and uninteresting as well. We did not eat dinner here. The breakfast buffet was good. Now, on to the service. Although not rude, the service was cold and overly rule oriented. Although I realize the check-in time is 15:00, most places will not hold on to this dogmatically and to the minute. In other words, if the room is available then let your guests settle in. On this day it was raining, constant and hard, so most guests were cold and wet when they arrived as we were. At 14:10 when I asked if our room was ready the lady at the front dest pretended to check her watch and just no, please wait until 15:00. She didn't check if rooms were ready, but rather preferred the strict rule and have guests, many with children, sit around cold and wet in the lobby. Rules are more important than your customers. I don't agree with that. It is below my standard. On to breakfast, schedule to start at 6:30. We arrive at 6:28 and the lady (different lady) rather aggressively told us to go sit in the lobby rather that stand and wait for 2 minutes. That 2 minutes before 6:30 seemed very offensive for her. So when it came to parking no person came out to greet us or help us. Not normal or good. However I parked in front and headed in, then I was approached and told that I should not park there. Not sure why, but I asked where and was told that there is a parking lot around the corner. So I headed out to the car and started to move when I was approached and told that the parking lot was full. So I asked where I should park and was told that sorry the parking lot was full. So can I stay here? No. Where? the parking lot is full. So where do I park? The parking lot is now full, maybe some people will leave. I got fed up and just walked back into the hotel. A man then said that if I give him my key he will move my car when more spaces open up. Thank you. The next morning, my car was still there, had not been moved, and other cars were parked around me. That was not good reception. Below my standards. Dogmatic adherence to rules is more important than guests. Politeness does not hide that. Below my standards. Disappointed I cannot recommend this hotel.

This was a stopover hotel for our tour of Japan. It's well-located, walking distance to the railway station. The hotel carpark is small and we ended up in a garage about a 7-minute walk away. (10-minute if you have luggage.) We ended up in the executive floor. The rooms were all right in size. The major plus is the 14th floor executive lounge. We were there on New Year Day but ALL the restaurants that looked decent said they would only allow us in with reservations. We had not expected that. Fortunately, we had a good fill at the lounge, went to MacDonald's (across the road from the Railway Station) for a burger and then returned to the Lounge to top up with drinks. Although it was near the closing time for the lounge, still the staff topped up the food. Breakfast was pretty good. But the dining area is somewhat small. So we had to wait 10 minutes. They do have a picnic arrangement, which was pretty charming. Staff were friendly, things worked. Yes, I would recommend this.

The hotel was of a very good standard as were the rooms and the Japanese style breakfast was of a good quality, offering plenty of choices.. Would have liked to stay longer but we were moving on the fo,llowing day.

I used it for a family trip during the spring break. There is a charge because I came by car, but I was able to park in the parking lot and go sightseeing at Matsumoto Castle and Matsumoto Station. It's a good walk course. The parking lot and the front desk 々 were all kind. The room was newly renewed so it was very clean and I was grateful that almost all the equipment I needed was available. The breakfast at Gust was delicious. I would like to stay when I visit Nagano Prefecture from now on

Once you get to the rotary at Matsumoto Station, you can arrive within 2 minutes, and breakfast is available until 9:30, so if you arrive late, it will be empty and you can eat slowly and thoroughly. I made a business reservation on short notice, and it was cheap, so I'm a candidate to use it again. Also, by chance, they were holding a lottery to commemorate the company's founding, and even though they didn't win, they received a small bottle of local sake. I was lucky.

We stayed at a number of Ryokans of various price points throughout our honeymoon trip to Japan and this one was such a pleasant surprise. The decor has a throwback 70s-80s vibe that would suit a Wes Anderson film and the attitude is a nice mixture of traditional ryokan hospitality and modern style. The rooms are spacious for ryokans (which, warning to Americans, might feel smaller than western hotels), and the baths are just lovely. We used both the public and private baths, and enjoyed our time in both. If this hotel wanted to rebrand as a quirky, hip spot for young westerners they could, but you get the sense that they enjoy catering to their Japanese clientele and providing an affordable yet luxurious experience. We spent one night at a $600 a night ryokan and the experience between the two was honestly comparable. Furthermore, Matsumoto is a lovely town, and if you want to add a day trip to your Japanese itinerary do yourself a favor and stay at the beautiful Hotel Tamanoyu.

I chose this hotel in front of the station for the next day to use a car rental. It is a hotel of the Alpico Transportation Group. The receptionist is on the 2 floor. Check-in requires a machine hand input by yourself, and all payments, card keys and breakfast tickets are out of the machine. So payment is prepaid. It depends on the way of thinking whether it is troublesome or convenient. 1 person 8000 yen with breakfast. I give this hotel an ”Excellent” simply because we loved it. If you are in Kamikochi and you stay here I hope you love it too. I recommend that you get off the bus at the Imperial Hotel and walk to the hotel from there. It is much closer than the main bus station. The hotel is right in front of the river and is surrounded by nature. It is not a high traffic tourist spot. Amazing place. The day we arrive it was raining and cold. The hotel offer ponchos, umbrellas, etc...hot drinks and snacks in the lounge almost all day. We arrive at about 10:00 to drop our bags and did a pre check-in (check in time was 14:00), but we came back at 13:00 since it was cold and raining and my wife and 8 year old did not want to walk anymore. However our room was ready so we settled in and loved it. The room was a corner so it was bright, and we had a view of the river and a tree with birds in it. Great. The onsen opened at 15:00 and felt great. It has an inside and outside bath. Not big but just felt perfect. Everything was very clean and well maintained. Dinner and breakfast buffet were just great. My daughter has allergies and her food was perfect. The service was always friendly and excellent. Night time stars were amazing. Kamikochi is beautiful. Great hotel in Kamikochi.

Very relaxed and remodeled from the ancient house design backpacker inn, public spaces and rooms are clean and comfortable, very friendly to long-term travelers, with washing machines, outdoor clothes drying space and a fully equipped kitchen for cooking needs. Very recommended backpackers, about 13 minutes walk from the station, but the walk is flat and visited by many small shops. Very recommended.

I use it at the hotel the night before going to Kamikochi, which I go out every year. バスターミナルからのアクセスも良く、どこに行くにも抜群の立地です。 （お部屋や施設） ほとんどが和室の畳です。今年、新しくおしゃれな洋室が2部屋、１Fにできていました。これまであった２段ベッドのお部屋２室は来年、リニューアル予定とのことですが、個人的にはぜひ半分はベッドのお部屋になって頂きたいと希望してやみません！ やはり高齢になれば正座も辛いですし、日本人のほとんどがもうベッド、椅子生活だと感じますし、これからもっとインバウンドが戻ってきたときに観光客の方から感謝されるのではないかと感じます。 コロナ禍のお風呂の人数は4名までとなっていました。入口にあるスリッパの数で認識し、コントロールされていました。 男性の脱衣所にはスキンケアの用意がなく、今は男性でもする時代なのでオールインでいいので用意があると助かります。 配布されるアメニティのセットは五千尺ホテルと同様のようでしたが、歯ブラシのクオリティーをもう少し見直した方が良いと感じました。 すっかり歯茎が悪くなりました。毎日補充の必要ないと思いますので、ぜひクオリティーをアップして頂きたいです。 登山で荷物を少なくしたいので、歯ブラシやアメニティを持参されない方は多いと思います。 上高地は寒いので浴衣ではなく、新しくできた２つのお部屋のようにパジャマだともっと快適に過ごせ、もっとベッドの部屋を多く改装して頂きたいと切に感じます。 なかなか畳の部屋は正座もつらく、敷布団が薄いです。 登山服などを洗う洗濯機や乾燥室、施設内の有料クリーニングはありまえん。これはどこの上高地のホテルも同じだと思います。ただし、小梨ロッジには乾燥室はあるそうです。 登山靴の外履きを用意する必要はありません。ロビーの玄関先にクロックスもどきのご用意があり、これがとても履きやすかったです。このサービスはどこの上高地の宿泊所もそうで、登山リゾートならではです。 星空を見るルーペや傘、カッパ、折りたたみいすの貸し出しなども無料でありました。 暖房は部屋も館内も良くきいており、部屋は調節も可能。部屋以外の施設内は床暖房で快適でした。夏は上高地なのでエアコンがなく、扇風機の貸し出しになるようです。 （食事） お食事は朝、夜ともにビュッフェですが、料理長やスタッフの方々が常時、在庫の確認をされており大変に好印象です。 文句のつけようがないほど丁寧で、どれも本当に美味しいものでした。これがこのロッジの一番誇れる点だと感じます。 ただ、おとうじそばがありましたが、信州なのでもっとそば自体が美味しいものだと良いなと思います。 お味噌汁は信州みそがうずたかく盛られ、そこから好きな味噌をすくい、自身で作るような楽しい方式になっていましたが、コロナ禍だとこの見せ方がもう少し違う方法があっても良いと思いました。 例えばカバーをするなど、子供が素手で触るシーンをみてこれは良くないと感じました。 夕食のデザートでは松本市が誇る、ファイブフォルンと同じミニケーキが食べれます。秋にうかがいましたが、チーズケーキ、モンブラン、シャインマスカットタルトがあり、どれもおいしくてうれしかったです。 夕食時に揚げたての季節の天ぷらが美味しく提供されます。提供方法なのですが、ビュッフェの中央で揚げてくださりとてもいいのですが、食堂に油の香りが充満してしまい、登山後にせっかく気持ちよく入浴させてもらった髪とフレッシュな洋服に油のニオイが強烈についてしまい、それだけが嫌な点でした。 客から注文を取ってから揚げていること、また、繁忙時には同様にビュッフェスタイルになっているので、厨房で揚げてから提供でも良いのではと感じました。 大きな天ぷら鍋の上には換気扇がないので、油の香りで具合が悪くなる時がありました。 すごく良いプレゼンテーションだと思いますが、少しだけ工夫があるとうれしいです！ ランチにはテラスでホットサンドを自身で作り食べれるような楽しいサービスもありましたが、通りに面するのでやっている方は見ませんでした。 よいサービスだと思ったのですが、もう少し工夫があると我々もやってみたいと感じました。 若い女性の方でとても接客が上手な方がおられ、素敵でした。 （予約） ラインから行うのが一番オトクなようで、ホテル独自のポイントが積算され、翌年もそれを利用することが可能なようです。 横のスイーツ屋さんの冷凍アップルパイ（ホール）や宿泊券がもらえるようなので、とてもよい試みだと感じました。頂きましたアップルパイはとても美味しく感謝しております。 時期によってはとてもリーズナブルなので、このロッジはとてもおススメです。 最後にフロントのお若い皆さんが本当に親切でした。心から仕事を楽しんでいるように見えました。 交通の事や、山の知識はもう少しだけ準備があると助かるなと思う場面がありました。ぜひ上高地のプロとしてよろしくお願いします！ インスタグラムなども頑張っており、非常に好印象です。 玄関前の素敵なイラストはどなたが描かれているのでしょうか、とても素敵でした。 フロント横にロッジのオリジナルグッツがありましたが、五千尺ホテルのようにモンベルなどとコラボレーションがあると楽しいです。正直あまり欲しいものがなかったです。 ロッジの向かいに五千尺ホテル横の土産屋があり、こちらで使える5％の割引券がもらえます。（何度でも利用可能）五千尺ホテルの宿泊だと10％割引なので同じにしてくれると嬉しいですね。 今年の紅葉のピークは10月中旬から下旬。カラマツの黄金色の11月初旬まで楽しめます。この後からホテルは安価になっていき、閉山を迎えます。この時期もおすすめです。 上高地にはATMがありませんので、ご注意を。これはずっと変わらない事実です。

I walked from Kita Matsumoto Station to the hotel. ７ minutes? It is a walk arrival. The woman at the front desk had a smile and there was no unpleasant impression. The room was a room with Matsumoto Jo castle on the top floor. Especially at night Matsumoto Jo castle was the best and clean. The room size is a bit small, but I think it is reasonable to think of the price. The public bath is the feeling that it is said to be a small bath. ５ people are full if they enter. Moreover, there was no corona countermeasure at all. It is a breakfast restaurant, but it uses tong in the form of Viking, but the corona countermeasure is halfway and it is not possible. Use of disposable gloves for decadac and finger disinfection at the entrance properly. I didn't use several sets of disposable gloves. The employee doesn't know the face. We stayed two nights in this Ryokan during our holiday in Japan. Matsumoto is a cosy and relaxed place, without the tourist crowds we experienced in other cities, staying in different hotels, who were all good, this Ryokan gave us a memorable experience. Everything was very well organized, the pick up from the station, the free bikes, the cleanliness of the place. The warm welcome from the hosts, the excellent way in which they took care of us during our stay. Making sure we could enkoy andrelax completely. Yesterday when we returned from our bicycle trip, during which we had a heavy rainshower and were completely soaked. The owner rushed out with umbrellas and his wife waited with towels and put newspapers in our wet shoes. This really felt as coming home! We tried both the Japanese and Western breakfast, they were both excellent. If you are staying in Matsumoto this the place we strongly recommend!

We stayed at a number of Ryokans of various price points throughout our honeymoon trip to Japan and this one was such a pleasant surprise. The decor has a throwback 70s-80s vibe that would suit a Wes Anderson film and the attitude is a nice mixture of traditional ryokan hospitality and modern style. The rooms are spacious for ryokans (which, warning to Americans, might feel smaller than western hotels), and the baths are just lovely. We used both the public and private baths, and enjoyed our time in both. If this hotel wanted to rebrand as a quirky, hip spot for young westerners they could, but you get the sense that they enjoy catering to their Japanese clientele and providing an affordable yet luxurious experience. We spent one night at a $600 a night ryokan and the experience between the two was honestly comparable. Furthermore, Matsumoto is a lovely town, and if you want to add a day trip to your Japanese itinerary do yourself a favor and stay at the beautiful Hotel Tamanoyu.

I stayed for two consecutive nights a week before the closing of the Kamitakachi mountain. I thought it was more quiet, but it was surprising that there were many tourists because of the warm winter. The hotel is a short walk from the Kapa Bridge, but it is a nice tattoo that is naturally taken in a quiet environment. The lobby and room are simple but not a safe, but a quality atmosphere. I chose a Japanese style room, but the ceiling was higher than I thought, and the use around the water was good. The front desk and the staff at the restaurant were really great and they were with a 2 year old child, but they were able to spend a luxury time with their 70-year-old parents. Among the hotels in the upper highlands, it was very satisfying for ２ days with a luxurious meal that doesn't seem to be in the mountains despite the relatively affordable price. It is a pity that the bath is not a hot spring, but when I go to Kamitakachi again, I talk to my parents that it is decided by the Alpine Hotel.

I give this hotel an ”Excellent” simply because we loved it. If you are in Kamikochi and you stay here I hope you love it too. I recommend that you get off the bus at the Imperial Hotel and walk to the hotel from there. It is much closer than the main bus station. The hotel is right in front of the river and is surrounded by nature. It is not a high traffic tourist spot. Amazing place. The day we arrive it was raining and cold. The hotel offer ponchos, umbrellas, etc...hot drinks and snacks in the lounge almost all day. We arrive at about 10:00 to drop our bags and did a pre check-in (check in time was 14:00), but we came back at 13:00 since it was cold and raining and my wife and 8 year old did not want to walk anymore. However our room was ready so we settled in and loved it. The room was a corner so it was bright, and we had a view of the river and a tree with birds in it. Great. The onsen opened at 15:00 and felt great. It has an inside and outside bath. Not big but just felt perfect. Everything was very clean and well maintained. Dinner and breakfast buffet were just great. My daughter has allergies and her food was perfect. The service was always friendly and excellent. Night time stars were amazing. Kamikochi is beautiful. Great hotel in Kamikochi.

バスターミナルからのアクセスも良く、どこに行くにも抜群の立地です。 （お部屋や施設） ほとんどが和室の畳です。今年、新しくおしゃれな洋室が2部屋、１Fにできていました。これまであった２段ベッドのお部屋２室は来年、リニューアル予定とのことですが、個人的にはぜひ半分はベッドのお部屋になって頂きたいと希望してやみません！ やはり高齢になれば正座も辛いですし、日本人のほとんどがもうベッド、椅子生活だと感じますし、これからもっとインバウンドが戻ってきたときに観光客の方から感謝されるのではないかと感じます。 コロナ禍のお風呂の人数は4名までとなっていました。入口にあるスリッパの数で認識し、コントロールされていました。 男性の脱衣所にはスキンケアの用意がなく、今は男性でもする時代なのでオールインでいいので用意があると助かります。 配布されるアメニティのセットは五千尺ホテルと同様のようでしたが、歯ブラシのクオリティーをもう少し見直した方が良いと感じました。 すっかり歯茎が悪くなりました。毎日補充の必要ないと思いますので、ぜひクオリティーをアップして頂きたいです。 登山で荷物を少なくしたいので、歯ブラシやアメニティを持参されない方は多いと思います。 上高地は寒いので浴衣ではなく、新しくできた２つのお部屋のようにパジャマだともっと快適に過ごせ、もっとベッドの部屋を多く改装して頂きたいと切に感じます。 なかなか畳の部屋は正座もつらく、敷布団が薄いです。 登山服などを洗う洗濯機や乾燥室、施設内の有料クリーニングはありまえん。これはどこの上高地のホテルも同じだと思います。ただし、小梨ロッジには乾燥室はあるそうです。 登山靴の外履きを用意する必要はありません。ロビーの玄関先にクロックスもどきのご用意があり、これがとても履きやすかったです。このサービスはどこの上高地の宿泊所もそうで、登山リゾートならではです。 星空を見るルーペや傘、カッパ、折りたたみいすの貸し出しなども無料でありました。 暖房は部屋も館内も良くきいており、部屋は調節も可能。部屋以外の施設内は床暖房で快適でした。夏は上高地なのでエアコンがなく、扇風機の貸し出しになるようです。 （食事） お食事は朝、夜ともにビュッフェですが、料理長やスタッフの方々が常時、在庫の確認をされており大変に好印象です。 文句のつけようがないほど丁寧で、どれも本当に美味しいものでした。これがこのロッジの一番誇れる点だと感じます。 ただ、おとうじそばがありましたが、信州なのでもっとそば自体が美味しいものだと良いなと思います。 お味噌汁は信州みそがうずたかく盛られ、そこから好きな味噌をすくい、自身で作るような楽しい方式になっていましたが、コロナ禍だとこの見せ方がもう少し違う方法があっても良いと思いました。 例えばカバーをするなど、子供が素手で触るシーンをみてこれは良くないと感じました。 夕食のデザートでは松本市が誇る、ファイブフォルンと同じミニケーキが食べれます。秋にうかがいましたが、チーズケーキ、モンブラン、シャインマスカットタルトがあり、どれもおいしくてうれしかったです。 夕食時に揚げたての季節の天ぷらが美味しく提供されます。提供方法なのですが、ビュッフェの中央で揚げてくださりとてもいいのですが、食堂に油の香りが充満してしまい、登山後にせっかく気持ちよく入浴させてもらった髪とフレッシュな洋服に油のニオイが強烈についてしまい、それだけが嫌な点でした。 客から注文を取ってから揚げていること、また、繁忙時には同様にビュッフェスタイルになっているので、厨房で揚げてから提供でも良いのではと感じました。 大きな天ぷら鍋の上には換気扇がないので、油の香りで具合が悪くなる時がありました。 すごく良いプレゼンテーションだと思いますが、少しだけ工夫があるとうれしいです！ ランチにはテラスでホットサンドを自身で作り食べれるような楽しいサービスもありましたが、通りに面するのでやっている方は見ませんでした。 よいサービスだと思ったのですが、もう少し工夫があると我々もやってみたいと感じました。 若い女性の方でとても接客が上手な方がおられ、素敵でした。 （予約） ラインから行うのが一番オトクなようで、ホテル独自のポイントが積算され、翌年もそれを利用することが可能なようです。 横のスイーツ屋さんの冷凍アップルパイ（ホール）や宿泊券がもらえるようなので、とてもよい試みだと感じました。頂きましたアップルパイはとても美味しく感謝しております。 時期によってはとてもリーズナブルなので、このロッジはとてもおススメです。 最後にフロントのお若い皆さんが本当に親切でした。心から仕事を楽しんでいるように見えました。 交通の事や、山の知識はもう少しだけ準備があると助かるなと思う場面がありました。ぜひ上高地のプロとしてよろしくお願いします！ インスタグラムなども頑張っており、非常に好印象です。 玄関前の素敵なイラストはどなたが描かれているのでしょうか、とても素敵でした。 フロント横にロッジのオリジナルグッツがありましたが、五千尺ホテルのようにモンベルなどとコラボレーションがあると楽しいです。正直あまり欲しいものがなかったです。 ロッジの向かいに五千尺ホテル横の土産屋があり、こちらで使える5％の割引券がもらえます。（何度でも利用可能）五千尺ホテルの宿泊だと10％割引なので同じにしてくれると嬉しいですね。 今年の紅葉のピークは10月中旬から下旬。カラマツの黄金色の11月初旬まで楽しめます。この後からホテルは安価になっていき、閉山を迎えます。この時期もおすすめです。 上高地にはATMがありませんので、ご注意を。これはずっと変わらない事実です。

I stayed for two consecutive nights a week before the closing of the Kamitakachi mountain. I thought it was more quiet, but it was surprising that there were many tourists because of the warm winter. The hotel is a short walk from the Kapa Bridge, but it is a nice tattoo that is naturally taken in a quiet environment. The lobby and room are simple but not a safe, but a quality atmosphere. I chose a Japanese style room, but the ceiling was higher than I thought, and the use around the water was good. The front desk and the staff at the restaurant were really great and they were with a 2 year old child, but they were able to spend a luxury time with their 70-year-old parents. Among the hotels in the upper highlands, it was very satisfying for ２ days with a luxurious meal that doesn't seem to be in the mountains despite the relatively affordable price. It is a pity that the bath is not a hot spring, but when I go to Kamitakachi again, I talk to my parents that it is decided by the Alpine Hotel.

The weather in the mountains changed immediately, so it was helpful to consider rental shoes and ponchos. Apart from whether you can accept it, if you have a chance to stay, you should research in advance and request it. It may lead to a slightly pleasant stay. I don't know the thoughts of other people 々, but it was a very cozy stay for me.

I give this hotel an ”Excellent” simply because we loved it. If you are in Kamikochi and you stay here I hope you love it too. I recommend that you get off the bus at the Imperial Hotel and walk to the hotel from there. It is much closer than the main bus station. The hotel is right in front of the river and is surrounded by nature. It is not a high traffic tourist spot. Amazing place. The day we arrive it was raining and cold. The hotel offer ponchos, umbrellas, etc...hot drinks and snacks in the lounge almost all day. We arrive at about 10:00 to drop our bags and did a pre check-in (check in time was 14:00), but we came back at 13:00 since it was cold and raining and my wife and 8 year old did not want to walk anymore. However our room was ready so we settled in and loved it. The room was a corner so it was bright, and we had a view of the river and a tree with birds in it. Great. The onsen opened at 15:00 and felt great. It has an inside and outside bath. Not big but just felt perfect. Everything was very clean and well maintained. Dinner and breakfast buffet were just great. My daughter has allergies and her food was perfect. The service was always friendly and excellent. Night time stars were amazing. Kamikochi is beautiful. Great hotel in Kamikochi.

　Stayed on weekdays. It is a great inn with parking lots and hot springs. The day I stayed was ８ the view bath on the floor was assigned to the man hot water. On the ８ floor, there are open-air baths and jacuzzi, and during the daytime, the distant view is enjoyed, and there is a body in the hot spring. The next morning, when I asked for a departure, I brought the car to the entrance and prepared it. Next time I will come to enjoy only hot water slowly. Thank you for your care.

We stayed at a number of Ryokans of various price points throughout our honeymoon trip to Japan and this one was such a pleasant surprise. The decor has a throwback 70s-80s vibe that would suit a Wes Anderson film and the attitude is a nice mixture of traditional ryokan hospitality and modern style. The rooms are spacious for ryokans (which, warning to Americans, might feel smaller than western hotels), and the baths are just lovely. We used both the public and private baths, and enjoyed our time in both. If this hotel wanted to rebrand as a quirky, hip spot for young westerners they could, but you get the sense that they enjoy catering to their Japanese clientele and providing an affordable yet luxurious experience. We spent one night at a $600 a night ryokan and the experience between the two was honestly comparable. Furthermore, Matsumoto is a lovely town, and if you want to add a day trip to your Japanese itinerary do yourself a favor and stay at the beautiful Hotel Tamanoyu.

This was a stopover hotel for our tour of Japan. It's well-located, walking distance to the railway station. The hotel carpark is small and we ended up in a garage about a 7-minute walk away. (10-minute if you have luggage.) We ended up in the executive floor. The rooms were all right in size. The major plus is the 14th floor executive lounge. We were there on New Year Day but ALL the restaurants that looked decent said they would only allow us in with reservations. We had not expected that. Fortunately, we had a good fill at the lounge, went to MacDonald's (across the road from the Railway Station) for a burger and then returned to the Lounge to top up with drinks. Although it was near the closing time for the lounge, still the staff topped up the food. Breakfast was pretty good. But the dining area is somewhat small. So we had to wait 10 minutes. They do have a picnic arrangement, which was pretty charming. Staff were friendly, things worked. Yes, I would recommend this.

The whole building was a clean and old inn. I especially liked the whole building classical music, so I felt very calm. The room was not old and clean, but there was a place where the wallpaper of the toilet was peeled off, so it was a pity there. But I was able to spend comfortably. The open-air bath is heated, but I think it is not very valuable if it is heated to this degree of sulfur smell. There is also a sulfur smell and a low temperature inn. If you lower the temperature to ～ 34 degrees, I think the value of this source will rise. However, because it may be troublesome in winter, I thought it would be good to reverse the source of inner hot water and open-air bath. Is it suitable for the price with dinner breakfast? It was more delicious than usual, but there was no dishes that were particularly memorable. Oh, the meat was delicious. I think the staff is a good person. This is not a downtown area about 8 minutes walk from Matsumoto Station Alps, and there is no convenience store nearby, but it is in a quiet location. I think the hotel itself structure is old but beautiful. To the front desk for check-in ‥‥ was usually a good response. There are amenities in the lobby and you can take it freely and there is a free drink service. The room usually uses the key to enter. The bathroom toilet in the room is a bit small, but there is also a washlet, usually clean and amenities and attached facilities in the room are normal. (The slippers were vinyl. There was also a refrigerator and dryer security box electric kettle) The bed was a wide single bed and the height of the pillow was just right. The network was wi-hi and the speed was good. The meal was usually delicious with many kinds for impossible Vikings. It was a quiet, convenient and cost-effective hotel.
