Visiting The New Windsor was a pleasant surprise, which we thoroughly enjoyed. The interior has been completely modernised and tastefully decorated with a lovely contemporary feel. The staff were welcoming and attentive throughout the evening and the food delicious. We wish this new venture every success.

When arriving for the first time you know this will be very rural when you have to drive around the cattle grazing on the road. The hotel is about a mile down a narrow lane at the top of a hill. The views from the top are superb. There is sufficient parking, though the overflow car park can be hard to spot. It's hard to think that you are just 30 minutes or so from Cardiff city centre. Check in was straightforward and the room was a little larger than the average double hotel room. It had all the usual facilities and bonus: this hotel still puts out biscuits! Breakfast was booked in 30 minute slots, the menu is excellent and it is freshly cooked. There is also a buffet of cereals, pastries etc. Staff were friendly and the service was excellent. We visit Cardiff quite often and, rather than find a hotel in the city, I think we will make this our first choice in the future. Footnote for EV drivers; I could see no charge point here. The nearest town with a decent number seems to be Caerphilly, about 6 or 7 miles away.

We are so glad that we chose to stay at Studios at Glenthorne for our recent weekend across and exploring the Brecon Beacons. Outstanding and quality are the first two words that come to mind describing our stay and the overall experience and were evident in every aspect. Claire provides studio rooms that are of the highest quality in every way. Spotlessly clean, spacious, fully equipped and every last detail thought of - as you enjoy your stay, you keep finding things that Claire has thought about and included. All fittings and fixtures were like new, super comfortable bed, modern kitchen and bathroom, plenty of hot water. Then add in freshly made Welsh Cakes (the best we tasted in Wales), vase with fresh flowers, water and milk, high quality toiletries, luxury linen and towels, USB charging power points, plenty of mirrors, great heating and ventilation, washer/dryer, simple but effective approach to recycling and waste - all complemented by fantastic communication (both pre-stay, on day of arrival and throughout) and the warmest of Welsh welcomes. We were travelling with bikes and Claire provided a great solution to make sure that they were stored safely - if travelling with bikes, we recommend getting in touch with Claire in advance. As others have noted, there is no parking directly on site, but ample in the adjacent street(s), so this should not be a factor in deciding to stay or not. Location wise, we were in the heart of the Brecon Beacons within 15 minutes drive, and managed an amazing 4 hour/70km cycle starting and finishing at Glenthorne. Some supermarkets are a short drive away as well. We cannot recommend Studios at Glenthorne highly enough. We very much want to return and suggest if you are looking for a location in Merthyr Tydfil for exploring the Brecon Beacons, that you look no further. We booked this hotel last minute due to another hotel cancelling us. The staff were very welcoming, extremely friendly and couldn't do enough for us. The hotel was very beautiful with a nice bar lounge area downstairs which stayed open until 1am. Our room was nice, although we had a room with a velux window so it felt very dark. We didn't have any view and didn't like that we had no window to open for fresh air. I think this was just unfortunate for us due to booking last minute and the hotel finding 4 rooms to accommodate us. Our friends who stayed had nice rooms with windows. We would definitely stay here again.
