The Hamilton Hoppin House

We never saw a singular member of staff other than the cleaner who was cleaning our room. This made us feel unsafe. I was staying with my 13 year old daughter. The room smelled very strongly on air freshener which was very unpleasant. Had I known that the property was un-staffed I would not have booked there. I did call in advance of our visit, but they did not pick up. I also left a voice message and sent emails and didn't receive a reply. They did sent text messages but it couldn't have felt less welcoming.

Yes, it's an historic site. Yes, the grounds are beautiful. Beyond that, it's an average facility with few amenities. Looking at the listings for this place, I thought it was a B&B. But to be clear, no breakfast is provided. We never saw a staff person that we know of. The locks are digital, so you come and go as you please. The heat is provided by water circulation and radiators. We roasted the first night. Cranked the radiators off and were chilly thereafter. The bathroom door in our door had to be bolted to remain closed at all. And you had to lean on it to get it to bolt. Anyway, glad we tried it. Wouldn’t stay there again.

This is lovely place and excellent location. The host was responsive and kind, and let us us just be.

Easy booking and exceptionally easy check in using only electronic door codes. Great! Room was fine. Would have liked a microwave added, and perhaps a small table by the chairs that are in the middle of the room, or some other horizontal surface or work surface for that part of the room.

We loved the character and charm of the Hamilton Hoppin House. We had never stayed anywhere like this place before. Lilli emailed and texted us check in instructions the day of our stay and they were very easy to follow. Our room was beautiful and we felt very safe and comfortable staying here!

The bed was ok, but it was not my room I originally chose. They just gave me a random room, and gas fire place was smelling gas so cannot enjoy it. Plus close to the 11 pm and few more hours I’ve got a company of ladies bugs which I don’t really appreciate.

We never received check-in info as promised and didn't realize there is no staff on-site at the property, so gettign into our room was a little confusing and required multiple calls to management. The hotel is fine but staying in this old (beautiful) home without any staff feels a bit like being an unwelcome ghost at a ******* house.

the hamilton hoppin house was impeccably clean, beautifully decorated, quiet, spacious rooms with tv mini fridge and coffee maker and a clean shared kitchen area, easy instructions for check in/out and got recommendations from owner on best places to check out for food. we will definitely be back!
