As a family, we've just got back from a week's stay at La Blanche Island. This is a lovely hotel with great facilities. - Great rooms - Friendly staff - Lots of food choice - 24hr bar (if you need one) - Decent entertainment, some nights better than others. For food, you can eat in the main hall which also provides an outside eating area, this outside area also provides additional food with fresh grilled meat and fish (I ate from this grill pretty much every night.) Dotted around the 'island' are additional eating areas for Mexican, Italian and seafood - I wouldn't say these are fully authentic but the food they provide is good, hot an provides a nice change. My lad thinks the cheeseburgers are the best he's ever had. Compared to previous hotels the food here is very good. There are a number of pools to choose from and beds right on the waterfront, some are mixed in with others while some are a bit more secluded so you can pick the best spot for yourself. The bar staff worked hard and were very friendly but it would be great if they received training on how to make cocktails as they were different from bar to bar and shift to shift, some were spot on and great, while others were very different. If you like nuts as a snack, you can eat your own body weight with them, just mind out as some of them are unshelled Pistachio and you can get a surprise. The variety of levels of cocktails didn't take anything away from the great holiday we had. There is also a Starbucks onsite, which provides hot and iced coffees, we tried a few, the kids liked the iced ones but coffee from the normal machines was perfectly fine. You'll meet Jimmy who provides watersports, which is not part of the hotel, great fun and a chance to practice your price haggling before you hit Bodrum for some shopping. If you want to get about, the Concierge will provide you with a door-to-door service to Bodrum or further afield but we ordered a yellow cab, it was cheaper and easy to use (30 euros each way). We were dropped off at a taxi rank at the top of the shopping street, with another one at the far end so it's easy to navigate and get home once you're done. Remember to have your door card ready as ID when you get back. The hotel's security is tight but ensures everyone you see is a guest so you can relax and enjoy your holiday. We also forgot to pack some of our suntan lotion, buying from the hotel shop is expensive at 30 euros per bottle. I got a yellow cab to 'Migros' a small supermarket in the local village. Taxi was 15 euro and the Suntan lotion was 10 euros per bottle. Getting about by taxi is easy, just don't forget your suntan lotion. You can also get a taxi up the hill to a bus stop and it's about 2 euros on the bus to Bodrum but the main road is busy and uses a slightly different driving style. Everyone is the family had a great time and would certainly come back to this resort.
