Go from the front desk to the back and cross the bridge on the river and enter the building with the room. It is a clean and rustic inn. In addition to the open-air bath and the public bath, there are ６ rental baths that are aimed at each. The bath is free to enter if it is empty rather than a reservation system. It is also convenient to be able to confirm ”empty” on the TV in the room. The meal is served in a private room prepared for each room near the front desk in the morning and evening. It was not a menu that was aimed at, but it was a dish with a feeling of handmade. From the pick-up, the guide, the meal waiter and one person were in charge. I had a service that matched the pace of the customer without hurrying. In the morning, he was sent to the master of the inn and received a handwritten thank you later.

We had a wonderful one-night stay at this onsen ryokan. Hospitality: The staff came to the carpark to greet us as soon as we arrived. We waited at the bar area with green tea. The reception staff could communicate well in English. Onsen: Our room had an indoor bathtub/onsen so we could enjoy anytime. We could book a free 50-min private family onsen, which was outdoor with a nice view. The public onsen (indoor and outdoor) was available 24-hour (except for the 15-min cleaning time at 9pm each night). We went at night so couldn't see much of the outdoor view there. Food: Our package included dinner and breakfast, both traditional Japanese style. We're very full! Room/environment : There was 10 detached units and ours was one of them. All traditional style with tatami and futon for sleep. Dinner is served at the restaurant and each room seems to have a private / segregated section so we didn't see other guests while eating. The whole place is not big and not much to do, but you feel like surrounded by greenery.

I made a reservation to visit Kurokawa Onsen Village. I came by bus and was worried about getting to the accommodation, but after contacting the friendly host, I was able to go back and forth more comfortably! : ) The accommodation is also really nice! The air is so good in nature and the surrounding scenery is so beautiful. The inside of the accommodation is cozy and clean, and most of all, the host is very friendly. The charm of a guesthouse is interacting with people! I met 6 or 7 people during the two nights I was there, and it was really fun to get together at the accommodation and chat together in the evening after everyone had finished their schedules! I will definitely come back next time with my friends. Thank you so much to the host!

A quiet remote inn in Okukurokawa. There are only 8 rooms in the vast land. Because each room has a bath, I don't meet people in the large open-air bath, and I rarely meet people in the hotel. The room is a calm Japanese-style room. The floor I stayed on was on the 2nd floor, but when I opened a door, I went down the stairs to the 1st floor from here and went to the indoor bath. The bathroom is filled with steam and is a hot spring that flows directly from the source. The service is also substantial. Welcome fruit was prepared in the refrigerator. The food is also vegetables from the home vegetable garden and locally produced Japanese beef. The rice is also delicious with locally produced ”Akigeshiki”. It was a satisfying hotel in everything.

Ryokan with our spectacular. The hotel is very close to the hotel with a person at the entrance, indicating where to park, very close reception that explains everything and accompany you to the room, with tea service and sweets nothing more to reach. It is a secret hot water near Kurokawa Onsen. When I stopped at the parking lot, the inn was greeted and guided immediately. There is a semi open-air bath away from all rooms. I stayed in a room called a day of forest, where I can see bamboo forest from the bath. The bath on the room is a small inn, but this is a wide rock bath, and it was the best inn I have ever used. It was also good that the bedroom and toilet was away. The family bath along the river was very hot, so the temperature was considerably lowered by water. The large bath near the mother's house, where the atmosphere stairs were down, was good in the morning and night, and it was three times, but it was rental. The meal was very delicious with morning and evening thoughts. However, it was a pity that the person in charge was a new rice, so there was no explanation of the dish. There was an explanation from the lady general at breakfast. (I think dinner books are required.) Especially rice is excellent. I returned for the first time. I heard the brand to the lady general on the way back. When I returned, I was brought with a different tea bowl and I thought my care was great. Because it was spring festival, I thought it would be ruined if there was a person in a country with a large voice, but I was able to spend very quietly at the dining room. I thought that maybe even the inn was thinking... And the dryer in the room is weak. Amenities are substantial. I was happy that there was cleaning, lotion and cotton swab in the public bath. The phone can't see the email unless you go out. The price is also reasonable compared to a famous inn nearby. During the day, stop by hot springs nearby, and if you stay here, it is the best!

We stayed for one night from July 9 (Sat) and stayed with a couple in the Japanese style room ”Nikwa” on the third floor. The purpose of this time was to touch the nature of ASO and to feel the liberation and to soak in a hot spring with good quality of springs. The room was more modern and sophisticated than I thought and more than expected. It was a room that was renewed last year. What I was worried about was that the closet was an old Japanese house, and it smelled mold without lighting, and the mattress on the bed was a little too hard, and the view was not good even on the third floor. The bath was a pure source hanging water, which did not heating, water or circulation, and the hot water temperature was just right, and it was a very good quality hot spring as rumored. However, the size is small and there is no open-air bath. I also used ”taruyu” in the rental bath, but it was well maintained and very comfortable. The meal was ”red beef steak seat”. There were many items and all were very delicious, but I thought that the red beef of the heart was a little fat and the mountain woman fish was quite small. The service was made to be a woman from Nepal, but there were several points that I was worried about, such as vertically distributing rectangular dishes of incense. I think this is a problem of staff training. Overall, it is a very old established inn with a very historical style, and it is well understood that it is carefully maintained, and it is thought that it is a hot spring inn with a taste. I felt that the charm of this inn was exhausted by the word ”good quality hot spring”.

We found a good deal on the web site, which included discounts for having proof of vaccines, plus coupons totaling ¥8,000. I think the coupons were part of the ”Go To Travel” campaign. These coupons could only be used in Oita prefecture, by the next day. The hotel has a grand, luxurious appearance and feel, but also feels dated. After check-in, we took the shuttle bus to the outside onsen (about 5 minutes away). This was included in the price (I am not sure if it is actually owned by the hotel. There is a fee for people who are not staying at the hotel). This onsen was glorious! All the baths are outside, surrounded by trees and nature. The only caveat is that there were many stairs going down to the onsen. I did not expect that at all, and it was not easy on my knees (no problem for my partner). The other onsen in the hotel (there were two) also involved walking (it is as large hotel), and some stairs too. The floors in the onsen seemed more slippery than I remember any other onsen I have visited before. Dinner was buffet style. Due to COVID restrictions, we had to get our temperature checked, and wear plastic gloves while serving ourselves (there was a box at the table, and a container for disposal of them). The seating was partitioned, and it was very comfortable. Even though it was a buffet, there were 3 choices for seating: 5:00 pm, 6:30 pm and 8:00 pm, with a 90 minute limit. The food was good, but my partner had to stand in line at a station for freshly prepared meat for 30 minutes. Breakfast was served in the same place as dinner. We got a lower-priced deal, and our room was on the 1st floor. The hallway was a little dark compared to the other floors (which we had to access for the front desk/entrance to the hotel and to get to the dining area and the onsen). To me, there was a musty smell that my partner did not notice. The place is older, and it is right next to the river, and it was the middle of Japanese (humid) summer, and I assume not all the rooms are like this. There was a can of roach spray in the closet (which thankful we did not need!), and requests not to open the windows to prevent bugs from getting in the room. The sound and site of the river outside the window was wonderful. The beds (two twin beds) were comfortable and we got a good night's sleep. It was my partner's 50th birthday, so we mentioned this to see if they had any thing special (even for an extra charge). They gave a card and a plastic rose (I think the rose was for the birthday), but said they did not have anything else. The water pot already had hot water in it when we arrived. I appreciate that. They also had the kind of coffee in which you open the single pack, put it over the cup (good size, not tiny like some places) and pour hot water on it (like a one cup drip coffee- not instant). I often travel with these types of coffee packs as a lot of hotels in Kyushu only have instant coffee or none at all in the rooms. The

At first, I was confused because it was under renovation and it was closed for business. When I rang the front bell, the staff kindly explained things. Everything from room information to how to use the bathing facilities. The facilities were quite good for the price, and I could feel the feeling of a ryokan. Of course it was clean, and the bathing facilities even had a mini hot spring. It was a bit cold due to the nature of the ryokan, but it was okay because there was a kotatsu. Accessibility is near Uchinomaki Station, but it's a mountain road so you can't go anywhere at night. I think it will be very convenient for those using a rental car. The property even has its own free parking lot!

The experience was absolutely amazing.💕The price is very inexpensive for everything that are included in your stay. The breakfast and dinner were delicious there was a lot of food and it was very traditional. As we came for our birthdays the staff gave us presents. The Onsens both interior and outdoors were so relaxing and beautiful.♨️ This staff is so caring, do not hesitate to ask for help if you’re having trouble wearing your Yukata properly.
