Jaguarundi Jungle Lodge - Monteverde

We had a fabulous time at the Jaguarundi Lodge. Peaceful, beautiful, clean. Upon arriving, we were greeted with a warm smile from Manfred, who played a big piece in making this stay fantastic. He shared info about the area, the trail on the property, and helped us identify some mammals that we saw as soon as we arrived. Yes, the Jaguarundi Lodge is a hidden gem, but so is Manfred! People really do enhance experiences and he did that for us. Manfred suggested taking the trail up to breakfast so we had a chance to spot the Howler Monkeys. Additionally, he was willing to go out of his way to find us help to bring our luggage across the adorable swinging bridge. Needless to say, this was the perfect stop on our “Tour de Costa Rica.” Manfred, BY FAR, has the been most helpful and kind person we’ve had the pleasure of crossing paths with in Costa Rica. Not to mention, the proximity to downtown was awesome. The Lodge is walking distance to many restaurants and shops along with a short drive to the Monteverde Cloud Forest. One of my favorite parts was sleeping with the windows open listening to the water trickling and all the wildlife, especially the birds! If you are in the fence about staying at the Lodge, DO IT. From the wonderful customer service, to beautiful property grounds, the local wildlife, and the true “jungle” feel of the rooms, you will not be disappointed!

The lodges really are in the middle of the rainforest. You will be waked by howler monkeys close to your lodges. Dylan and Manfred at the reception are very kind and helpful. A couple of smaller drawbacks, not really important to us: the cabins can be noisy (neighbors), there is no swimming pool and for breakfast you need to have a steep klimb.

Surrounded by trees, really near the center, totally walking distance. It has a short private trail less than 1 km. Breakfast included was filling and tasteful. Rooms are small, they have view to the trees. Staff was kind and they let us in early.

I Enjoyed my stay! Very beautiful and peaceful. My only issue was the hike up to the ficus hotel for breakfast. The hike was long, steep, wet and and a potential hazard. There should be breakfast at the lodge reception area. Other than that, great visit, friendly atmosphere ! Dillan was helpful.

Small room but very comfortable. Maybe could use a fan during the day, night temps are very comfortable. Beautiful, well maintained walking trail. Front desk staff (Dylan!) was wonderful and helped with every need. Monkeys and a variety of birds right out your doorstep.

I spent 2 days in the lodge and like the hospitality of my hosts Dylan & Aylin. My room was very clean and big enough for 2 nights. The excellent breakfast is in the close Hotel Ficus. In the short walk to the Hotel you can see a lot of different animals.

Dylan was amazing and he was working very hard at the front desk. He helped me get situated when I needed an early morning taxi to Coricancha for my bird watching tour. He also organized lunch at the cafe. Jaguarundi was amazing and special lodge in Monteverde. I highly recommend the friendly staff and the forest is magnificent

The lodge is amazing. It is close to Monteverde, which is spectacular, and you are right in the middle of the cloud forest surrounded by wildlife. There were howler monkeys all around us and several resplendent quetzals were sighted nearby. The staff were also very helpful. Be aware that the roads going into Monteverde have long sections of dirt road, especially the road between Arenal and Monteverde. Use public transportation or rent a 4 wheel drive.

Overall the lodge was fine, perhaps a bit outdated here and there but you do get the vibe that you are in the jungle/forest. Staff was really friendly and helpfull. Rain (and monkeys?) on the roof was really loud and also you can pick up the traffic from the main road that is nearby.
