The room was lovely. Great view and cleaned every day yet could have had better quality tea/coffee/milk selection. The pool area is quite small and gets busy so I’d recommend using the terraces. However, the “terrace bar” opens for about 2 minutes every other Thursday! )i.e it was never open) so take your own refreshments. Plenty of free water around the hotel so that was good. WiFi was shocking in the room. Works best outside and in reception so they could improve on that. We were half-board and had access to breakfast and dinner. The breakfast was exactly the same every day. Not a great deal of variety but manageable. Personally machine coffee is not my favourite and this one was incredibly bitter (cheap). The “waiting” staff were slow to clear the tables so we did it ourselves most of the time. Evening meals were again very limited on their variety. Unfortunately, I got food poisoning on the 3rd day. Not sure if it was the pork, pasta or chicken but I was laid up for 2 days and was vomiting badly. After this we both started paying attention to the food and the hygiene in the restaurant and we found that lots of their food was recycled, which isn’t a bad thing. However, leaving meat and pasta out under warm lights then refrigerating then serving up again is abhorrent. We witnessed cross contamination with raw chicken being picked up with the cooked chicken tongs then plated up. It became clear also that bacteria grows in abundance on pasta and rice (Bacillus cereus) I was throwing up after the chicken and eating the pasta. Some evening vegetables that had been out for hours would then be served at breakfast. I dread to think where it had been stored overnight! We also witnessed a kitchen staff member wandering around behind the food counter adjusting his trousers frequently and putting his hands down his backside, to then pick up food, which had dropped out of the bowls, with gloveless hands. A majority of the plates were always wet or dirty. The glasses (when they had them!) were stored upside down on plastic trays which was never cleaned so be wary of that. The spa, again, was lacking that plush feeling. Paint peeling off ceiling, dirty towels left for 24 hours. Broken showers, cloudy water and dirty filters in the plunge pool. We had the company of a cockroach in the spa which the young girl quickly got rid of. Admittedly she then did give us a free hour the next day. Overall we just felt the public areas were lacking in cleanliness which made us cautious and apprehensive. We ate out on the last night as we couldn’t bear the thought of sitting on that canteen any longer! We just felt the hygiene for a 4 star hotel was appalling. It’s a 3 star minus at a push so don’t expect lush. Finally, be aware of Sara on reception. As she’s incredibly unhelpful and rude. I say this because you have to leave a cash deposit of €10 per beach towel. When you come to hand them back you MUST have the receipt which was given to you when you checked them o
