I planned a trip to Muncie, Indiana but accidentally booked 2 hotels for the same trip.
I called the Days Inn and asked if I could cancel my reservation and have the fee waived but they refused to waive the fee for the room.
So I canceled the other reservation I had made at the Quality Inn, as they had indicated I might still be able to receive a waiver of their fee.
But upon arriving at the Days Inn, I was informed that my reservation had indeed been canceled. At no time did I instruct Days Inn to follow through with the cancellation of the reservation since they refused to allow a waiver of the fee.
So Days Inn canceled the reservation on their own without authorization. And when I arrived there, they refused to give me the room that I had reserved and was being charged for.
When I said that I was there for the room and had not canceled it, they just insisted that it was canceled and said that the only way I could get a room was to make a new reservation.
When I inquired as to whether or not I would have to pay twice, I was informed that, yes, I would have to pay for both the initial, now canceled reservation, as well as the new one.
So Days Inn refused to waive the fee as a courtesy since I had accidentally booked two rooms for the same dates.
They then canceled the room without authorization and still charged me for it.
On top of that they also tried to charge me again, making me pay for a 2nd reservation, rather than giving me the room I had originally booked.
