Five Volcanoes Boutique Hotel

Pros - restaurant staff is charming and most accommodating. Staff who greet you upon your trek return provide wonderful much appreciated foot massages and clean your boots for your next days adventure. Second floor dining room/ lounge comfortable. Food delicious. High marks for cleanliness and lovely grounds. Cons - standard room is a closet where no 2 people can stand at the same time. No shelves or draws to unpack your belongings and an open closet rack with only 2 hangers. Nowhere to sit except the bed as there no chairs in the room. Air conditioner, which is a plus, except the remote is in Chinese so we came back from dinner to a very hot room. Oh well guess we guessed wrong! And we were able to have a conversation with the people next door through the walls - that’s how thin they are. Now I understand why the standard room is not pictured on their website. Rooms are very clean but housekeeping inconsistent removing towels ( no we didn’t request this) and not replace them with new ones and toilet rolls not replaced. Also there was a debate between our tour director and the hotel as to which room was requested. We/ tour director thought deluxe but hotel claimed standard. Guess we’ll never know the truth. And while they offered to move us on day 2, too much effort for one last night. Our guess is the overbooked with 2 large tour groups so we got bumped. Summary very disappointing since they advertise themselves as an exclusive luxury lodge - couldn’t be farther from the truth. Also beware they seem to cater to, large tour group that commandeer the property. Sent from my iPad

We stayed her 2 nights in May with 2 other couples. Fantastic meals ( loved the soups and fish) and drinks. We stayed her to see the Gorillas and Yellow monkeys. Staff cleaned our shoes and gave a foot massage after each trek. My shoes were cleaner than before the hike. The rooms were spacious and nice open areas for our group to have a cocktail before dinner. We had an amazing bottle of french red wine one night.Laundry service was same day.

Great hotel! Stay here. The staff are so pleasant and everyone had a smile on their face and were helpful in anything we needed. They cleaned our hiking boots and got you with gaiters before your treks. When you come back a nice foot massage awaits! Innocent and Desire were the two attendants that helped us with our gaiters before and helped after - they were just so nice and funny. And we got to hang out outside with some of the staff while everyone was cheering on the Tour de Rwanda cycling race…. The room was huge and clean…an all around great place to stay! The food was yummy too!!!

Best part of it: the food. This is probably the best dish I've eaten in Eastern Africa. Worst part of it: the rest. The wifi of the hotel is unbelievably weak and didn't work at all in my bedroom (and the room had a smart TV, which meant I had no internet and no TV). Complained about this since day 1, and they managed to fix it on my last day.

While on a gorilla trek, Five Volcanoes was one of our accommodations- What an unexpected treat! The lodging is stunning, the food was delicious and each and every member of the staff was amazing! We arrived back to the hotel after our trek with MUD up to the top of our gaiters only to be met by a team who not only removed the gaiters and boots but gave us all a foot massage. Our boots were returned to us a few hours later so clean that they looked new! This boutique hotel is an absolute gem!

This was an exceptional boutique hotel, just a short drive away from Volcanoes National Park. The staff were very gracious. We stayed only the one night, getting up early to do the gorilla trek and leaving after that. They let us keep our room until we got done with the trek, so we could go and shower. The provided us gaiters and hiking poles for the trek. They also provided lots of snacks and juice. After our trek, they gave us a foot massage and cleaned our hiking shoes. If a foot massage doesn't quite cut it, they also have a spa. Afterwards, because we didn't have time to stay for lunch, they made us some delicious sandwiches and spring rolls to take on the road with us. This place was top notch and the room itself was stunning, with a huge bath tub. I would stay again in a heartbeat.

From the moment we arrived we were treated like Kings and Queens. We were met with a refreshing limeade, our bags were whisked away and our rooms were clean and spacious. There were ten of us and as one member of the family said “we don’t agree on much, but we ALL agree this hotel was amazing. Lastly, the food was the incredible! Again, ALL of us were impressed. The staff is friendly and very helpful. We had a foot massage on our return from our gorilla trek. Really…..this was like no other place I’ve stayed.

We were here three nights and the last day my husband said "I'd like to just live here". The property is gorgeous, very comfortable, food is great - most of all the staff are outstanding. They remember you and will bend over backward to accommodate any request. We absolutely loved every minute there

The staff were beyond friendly and helpful. Winnie, Innocent, and Samuel stand out!! The food was delicious and the service was outstanding! Our room was large and the beds were comfortable. We had massages 2 days in a row ! My friend and I both agreed that these massages were up in the top 3 massages we had ever had! Winnie and Lillian were professional and so darn good! The location is near the location to begin the gorillas trek. I highly recommend this hotel
