Caroline House Nashville Historic Inn

First let me say the house is very clean. The area was nice and it was quiet. The bed and pillows comfortable. However, it is not an inn and not historic. Having stayed exclusively in historic inns on this trip, it was a bit of a letdown to discover that we had booked a room in what amounted to a suburban house—albeit a nice one. Please note that we had specifically searched for historic inns and hotels, not airbnbs. There were 3 or 4 rooms upstairs that had been turned into guest rooms. None of the rooms had locks. Instead we were given a plastic wedge to push under the door. There were security cameras at the front door, on the porch, in the downstairs living/kitchen area and on the landing. I can only hope they were not in the bedrooms. The owner anxiously greeted us with a long list of things not to do: walk heavily, talk loudly & etc. It seems they must have had rowdy guests in the past. There were also further detailed instructions posted inside each room. Despite all of the above, it was a pleasant sun-filled place and clearly the homeowner was proud of his home, as he should be.

We loved our stay at the Caroline House Historic Inn. It is the best B&B we have ever stayed at. The house itself has a historic look and feel but with all the modern conveniences. In addition to being immaculately kept, it was beautifully decorated for Christmas. The communication before, during and after our stay was great and they even went out of make things easier for us when we arrived to Nashville. Our hosts were amazing and took the time out to talk to us and really get to know us. Teresa was exceptionally personable and made great suggestions based on the things she learned about us. They make you feel like you are staying with family. We loved that they provided breakfast vouchers to different local places for each day of our stay. The 12 South neighborhood has a ton of great restaurants and boutiques, all within walking distance of the house. The overall vibe of the area was fun, festive and upbeat. Because it was pretty cold while we were there, we used Uber, which was very inexpensive at less than $6 for most all of our rides, including to downtown. This trip was a late celebration of our 15 year anniversary and I can honestly say that staying at the Caroline House Historic Inn made it very special. We will definitely be back and hope to bring some of the friends we regularly travel with next time.

What a wonderful home with everything you could want. It’s in a location perfectly placed close to what you need. Michael was not only a perfect host but just a great guy. If you are looking for the PERFECT place to send a day or a week in Nashville this is it!

Our stay at Caroline House was lovely! Upon arrival we were warmly greeted and given a tour of the beautifully restored historic home. Our room was clean and very comfortable. We especially liked the location, which made it easy to walk to dinner one night. We plan to return in the future!

A stay at the Caroline Home Inn is a quintessential southern experience and isn’t that perfection for a visit to Nashville?! My daughters and I think so! Being able to walk to 12 South for food and shopping is a huge yes, as is the unexpected surprises of Destiny, the most wonderful dog, products supporting local businesses and non-profits, down to the upscale nature of the inn with beautiful furnishings and decor. We would love to have spent much more time at the Caroline House and know that we’ll be back.

This is a beautiful house that is very well maintained and loved. The host Michael was accommodating at every level. Breakfast is unique as you are given a voucher card for breakfast at a delicious local restaurant. Normally it is for one entree and one drink. The house is on a beautiful quiet street near Hattie B’s and other restaurants. It’s right off the freeway for easy trips to downtown as well. FYI. Because this is a very old house, the locks to rooms are no longer used as the original skeleton keys would be hard to replace. The house has security cameras both in and outside as well as an easy touch pad lock to come and go out the front door. We would stay here again for sure.

We truly enjoyed the Carolina House first starting with our greeting from Teresa. The neighborhood is fantastic - walking distance to so many good restaurants and stores. The rooms are nice - clean and cozy. And of course, the soaps smell so wonderful. The back patio was a wonderful relaxing space after a long day playing in Nashville.

Amazing inn! Perfect in every way! The hosts were very helpful and made us feel welcome immediately. The house is immaculate and perfectly appointed, yet cozy and inviting. The beds, linens and towels were of superior quality. We really enjoyed the walking distance to four different breakfast spots. We found that we actually preferred supporting the local small businesses for breakfast - and the food was yummy! It was lovely to be off Broadway in a quiet neighborhood near Belmont University. We left our car parked most of the time and hired a Lyft to take us to Broadway, the Listening Room, the Grand Ole Opry and Live Oak. Also a Lyft to dinner at Husk and Adele's. So many choices nearby for food and entertainment - a terrific location. I don't often write reviews but Caroline House is an exception due to it being exceptional!

A friend and I stayed at the Caroline House Historic Inn in mid-March and it was perfect. Michael and his staff are helpful and thoughtful hosts. This Inn is a wonderful location for visiting Cheekwood Estate and Botanical Gardens, and close to the excellent restaurants and shopping nearby on 12 Avenue South. Remember to get a reservation for Epice, a superb Lebanese restaurant on 12 Ave South.
