Crowne Plaza New Orleans French Qtr - Astor

The only good thing about the hotel is location. Rest everything sucks big time. There was no Hot Water for the shower in the rooms, had to shower with ice cold water and eventually caught cold. The Carpet smelled so bad and the corridor floors were dirty. Guest Services staff was super rude and cleaning staff kept knocking on the door even if Do no disturb sign was on. No Sound proofing, Super noisy when neighbouring doors are opened / closed. No Late checkout provided, no water in rooms. Far from 4 star hotel, more like a motel.

Great place to stay! Right on Bourbon and Canal Streets! Only downside was trying to drop off luggage and valet the car off of Canal can be tricky.

We booked this trip for a birthday treat. We thought the room was spacious, clean & had a massive TV. We had a bath & shower & a king sized bed. It’s next to Bourbon Street so loud music but earplugs are supplied. Reception staff are extremely helpful & provide recommended restaurants & places that deliver food to the hotel We didn’t use the gym or pool but would highly recommend this hotel for location. 5 mins from the Mississippi River

Quality of the building is not so good (old) and the staff member is not so friendly

To check into the room was a breeze. The customer service rep was excellent at his job and even helped me get information about a tour I had booked. The room itself was shabby or well worn looking and smelled. Maid service was good in that the bed was made everyday, but the bed itself was lumpy. There were rust stains in the bathtub. To step outside to smoke a cigarette, one is bombarded with homeless people asking for money or cigarettes. Seems more could have been done to safeguard guests standing in front of the hotel waiting for something or just getting a breath of fresh air from such harassment. I then found out there was a balcony on the 2nd floor where guests could go to smoke their cigarette. The view from the balcony is excellent as it looks right down on Burbon Street, what a treat. Spending days exploring the city and later going to the balcony in the evenings became a routine for me. That is until one night leaving the balcony heading toward the elevator I ran up upon a woman who was stooped down peeing on the floor by the wall that has a picture of a lady with a piece of paper over her eyes. There were bathrooms on the second floor, so I couldn't understand why she would do that. I guess that speaks to the type of person she is. I was appalled. If that is a representation of the type of people who book rooms at the Astor, then that hotel is not the hotel for me! No, I will never stay there again

It was very good location excellent

Booked the room months in advance only to have our room not available when we arrived. Booked two queens beds got one king, no hot water the first night room was very small, less than 3 foot from foot of bed to the wall. Terrible view out of the window, if you call looking at the roof, old brick walls, and another rooms window a view. The room did not come with a microwave, fridge, washrags, or even a trashcan in the bathroom. Now I understand that it was Mardi Gras, however that is no excuse for the lobby smelling of pot. Fans could have been set up to keep that stench out side. We were only compensated one half nights stay because of no hot water. $2100.00 dollars (minus half the first night) for 5 nights was very disappointing for all that we got.

Great location for the French Quarter. Far enough away from the noise. Clean rooms. Staff was eager to satisfy any requests.

Unfortunately I mind as well stayed at a Super 8 or a Motel 6. It took over an hour to check in because there was only one person conducting the check-in process even though there were more employees in the back room who only came out when there was an issue. Countless occupants were walking through the lobby warning everyone about the subpar accommodations. The main complaint was that there was no hot water. When I finally made it to my room there was shampoo and conditioner but no body wash. I could not get anymore towels and there appeared to be water damage over the bathtub. The water was cold as everyone stated. I could not use the safe because it was locked. There was a fire alarm that went off and the only direction we received was to exit and to not take the elevators. The majority of the occupants ended up in an alley. As we re-entered the hotel staff was still checking in people. No one ever mentioned the incident. This was not a good experience and for the amount of money I paid, these conditions were unacceptable.
