The Modernist Hotel

We loved our stay! Super cute room, spacious, comfy bed, very clean! Front desk was very welcoming. It is a family owned and run business, so we LOVE to support our locals. It was perfect for a mini getaway as new parents away from our baby.

Only thing preventing me from providing a perfect rating and booking again in the future, is the $350 hold that’s taking upwards to a week to come back to me. Doesn’t sit well with me and it seems pretty steep, other than that, great hotel

Property was easy to find. There’s street parking but if you come back late at night, it’s harder to find parking. Front desk was friendly. We booked a king bedroom and when we got in, it smelled like **** and cigarettes even though they tried to mask the smell with a citrus spray in the room. I was allergic to smoke so I stood outside while my partner called the front desk if we could switch to a different room. The front desk was accommodating and switched us to a king suite on the 4th floor. This room didn’t have any bad scent. It had a couch and the leather couch was sinked in. There’s ac and heat you could adjust. It came with bath robes, towels, toiletries, slippers, has eating utensils. Some of the towels have stains. The bathroom had a very mild mildew and urine scent. The bed sheets were clean with no hair. This hotel is very quiet and was able to get some sleep in. I appreciate they had a firm pillow available and the bed was also firm. I would recommend it for 1-2 night stay. It is very close to manhattan and also flushing driving distance.

My husband and I were in town for a few music business events and settled on The Modernist for its location near to transit that allowed easy access to Bushwick, Chelsea and Midtown where our events took place. We loved our Premiere King with balcony (especially the room to do yoga in the morning!) And we're very impressed with the friendly and attentive staff. We will be back!

The hotel is in an industrial portion of Queens but Uber friendly to Brooklyn and Manhattan. The hotel room I had was gorgeous (2 Queen Beds with glass sliding doors leading to a small balcony). The mini kitchenette was very convenient and they provide glassware and dishware.

Excellent location for visiting Manhattan. The subway is 2-3 mins walk and plenty of free street parking in the area. Very welcoming and friendly staff…like genuinely welcoming.

The name of the hotel is very much indicative of the overall vibe and style of the hotel. My room was spacious and had a balcony. My room had kitchenette, and they provide you with standard hotel toiletry. I loved the gallery which is a must see during the day and night. I also like the deli up the block. The prices were reasonable and a typical NY deli. Traveling to Manhattan is convenient with just a short walk to the train. I would definitely stay here again.

This was a nice small boutique hotel. we stayed in a room that was a suite with a separate sitting are and a kitchenette.
