Hotel Boreal

A 3 Star Hotel is not something we would normally consider, but wanting to experience a small, privately owned hotel offering hopefully a traditional French experience, rather than a more generic & typical European City Hotel, and following some research on various internet platforms - we decided to give it a go …… and were NOT disappointed ! This is a quaint, French street hotel in a great location - close to all transport links, shopping, restaurants, Place Masséna, etc & only a 10 minute stroll from the beautiful Nice Promenade. In keeping with its 3 Star rating, the hotel offered clean & tidy (if basic) rooms, pleasant & friendly staff, a perfectly acceptable breakfast with a selection of cold meats, pastries, cheeses, breads, etc along with Bacon, scrambled eggs, coffee and such like - more than ample for anyone & a decent start for a day of exploring the Côte d'Azur. For a city centre hotel & the standard provided - the pricing was very acceptable & breakfast being included was a pleasant bonus. There are a few tables on the pavement outside the hotel, and to sit there with a chilled bottle of Vin Rosé from the small hotel bar & people watch in the pleasant June sunshine for an hour was a pleasant & relaxing experience. All in all, if you are realistic in your expectations of a City Centre, relatively low cost hotel, Hotel Boreal is a very decent option.

Very good location close to metro station, good breakfast selection. Triple room was pretty small, bathroom needed attention, grout discoloured, silicone mouldy and fittings loose.

Comfy bed, nice linen. Rooms are on the small side, but plenty of storage. Kettle for making tea. Breakfast is plentiful, constantly restocked, hot and cold items. Location is great, it is a few minutes walk from the tram from the airport. The train station so you can visit Monaco etc is about 10 minutes away.

Amazing friendly & caring & helpful staff ( Amina & Ann) they are more than amazing. Great location, nearby everything you gotta need. For sure this will be my number one hotel in Nice in the future🌹

Whoever took the photos of this hotel did an amazing job. This is a very run-down hotel in need of renovation. Our room was so tiny that it could not fit 2 people and 2 suitcases unless a person or suitcase was on the bed. One of us had to sit in the balcony whilst the other got dressed. The situation in the bathroom was unbelievable. Nowhere to put anything, the shower went all over the floor as the screen was tiny and you had to straddle the taps to get into the shower. The hotel clearly has no deep clean process. Our bathroom fan had years worth of dirt in it. We decided to leave and we saw the highlight of the hotel. The staff were very helpful in this regard and resold our room so we could get a refund. Thank you.

Great location on a side street that was suprisingly quiet with a very French ambience (street cafes, restaurants etc.) Most of the places to visit in Nice are nearby as are transport options. Staff were efficient, helpful and took an interest in guests (remembering room number at breakfast for example) Bathroom was good with a bath and over-bath shower, always a good hot water supply and toiletries topped up each day. Fluffy white towels changed daily as required. Comfortable bed with nice bedding, airconditioning was excellent, cleaning done each day by 16.00 to a good standard. Free safety box in wardrobe. Our room was in the recently acquired section of the hotel (Boreal took over the next door hotel) and furnishings were dated - we were told that an upgrade project is soon happening. That said, this was as expected from the details and photographs on the websites and from reading reviews. Access by stairs in this section not an issue for us but might be an issue for less mobile guests. Breakfast offered a decent selection including some hot dishes plus juices, cereals, dried fruits, fresh fruit, yogurt, cold meats, cheeses, selection of breads, cakes and pastries. Coffee from a machine and freshly brewed available alongside teas Breakfast room is a bit small and staff trying to clear tables and top up the buffet were hindered by needing to move amongst guests to carry out their task - perhaps the layout could be more efficient.

Beautiful hotel. Great location and delicious breakfast. There are only two negative things, no elevator and the bed was hard.

Having been stranded due to a hotel scam, and ending outside this hotel not knowing where we would sleep! - the lady on reception turned our negative experience into a positive one, she was caring and understanding and fortunately had one room left. - she had it cleaned first, so we could continue with our day, and looked after our luggage for the day when we checked out. Saved our trip. Thank you - I am sorry I did not ask your name.

We stayed here for my husbands bday. Easy to get to the hotel from the metro about 5 mins walk. We arrived after midnight and we were able to check in straight away. Room was very comfortable and big with a little fridge which was great. Well located and safe, train station was about 10 mins walk, Lidl round the corner and lots of other eateries walking distance. Breakfast was continental and plentiful, bread, cheese, fruit, cereal, tea and coffee. We never felt rushed to eat quickly and leave. All the staff were friendly and very kind. The only thing I would say is that if you have difficulty with stairs, book a room on the side of the hotel that is serviced by a lift. We were on the 2nd floor and it wasn’t too bad for us take the stairs.
