Stonehurst Manor Including Breakfast and Dinner

My wife and I went to this once iconic North Conway Inn for Thanksgiving dinner. We have been here several times before and not since the new owners took over and didn't expect much difference. Definitely wrong about that. We were appalled at the lack of ability, knowledge and service of the waitstaff, kitchen and management or lack of management I should say. To keep it brief, I'll start by saying it took one hour and 22 minutes, exactly, to get our apps after we ordered. We timed it because it almost became a joke with us and several tables around us as to how long it would actually take to get food. Even then I had to ask two waitstaff THREE times to get the original order for apps before they actually delivered food. Then we had to basically flag the waitress down as she walked around the tables trying to figure out whose turkey dinners she was holding and then she had to go back and figure out whose dinners they were. Of course, they didn't have the sides we ordered so she had to go back and fix that and came back and that was wrong. we gave up and just laughed and ate what we had knowing if we asked for anything else we would be there until breakfast. Even then after almost two hours tables around us still had no food. The food would have been good if it was actually hot which it was not as you can imagine. speaking of hot , also had no or very little heat in the room and we were sitting next to the baseboard heater so we know. Several people asked for heat which never came and several people actually sat with coats on during dinner....really? I had joked with my wife beforehand how can you ruin a turkey dinner, well Stonehurst managed to do that. We and the two tables around us all said the same thing, ONE AND DONE, will never go here again for a Holiday meal, or frankly any other meal. For about $200.00 for two turkey dinners and two glasses of house wine, you can and should do better than this. Stonehurst should be ashamed at this level of service. This level of service is an embarrassment to your Inn in particular and the entire Valley in general. Shape up or turn the place into a museum.

A wonderful old inn with a lot of history, Stonehurst Manor offers a great value for the money -- our full breakfast and high-end dinner were influded in the price of our room. We stayed in a large, well-appointed room with three windows and a wood-burning stove. The grounds and the inn itself are beautiful.

Stayed two nights and stayed in the extension not the main house. Was very pleased to see that some update has (is) being done. The extra storage creates extra room space. Only was the TV, could not turn off, desk gave me new batteries, but did not work. Also need a password for most of the channels and no one had one. Staff was super friendly

Don't bother with this place! My parents went here last weekend with a small group of car enthusiasts and had a terrible experience. From dirty sheets to incompetent staff, it was one of the worst experiences of their lives and they travel quite a bit. They will never be back.

Would stay here again, the room was spacious and very comfortable. The food that is included with the stay was one of the best meals I’ve had.

The REVIEW DISAPPOINTED. We were very disappointed on this visit to the Stonehaven, having discovered the Stonehaven twenty some years ago, and having stayed there over the years three times before this visit. Before this visit this place held a special place in our hearts. We have memories of the finest dining and the best service and exceptional staff. The place was kept in explicit condition, from the linens, the carpets, the woodwork, the fireplaces, and cleanliness. BUT NOW, the new owners are not looking after the inn to these high standards we have come to expect of the Stonehurst Manor. The food is mediocre at best. Before we were treated to some of the finest dining, 5 course meals all inclusive. Breakfasts were amazing. NOW the food is typical restaurant quality you’d expect from a diner. ( Breakfast and Dinners are included with your room, and before it was amazing, now it’s not worth it. So disappointing ) The rooms, in the past visits the linens where of the highest value, the rooms where exceptional, NOW the beds are worn out, the linens are Walmart Quality, the floors are cheap laminate, the tub is in the room ( like a cheap sleazy motel ) , the paint is pealing in the bathroom, the door locks jam, the air conditioning is a window unit and was noisy. The parlour fireplace has not been cleaned and smells of creosote and ash, the whole room smelled of the fireplace. We had drinks at the bar, we decided to have a drink, after dinner, $30 USD a drink, I had ordered an Orange Juice and Vodka, and it was made with cheap Vodka! The woodwork has not been maintained, cleaned or oiled. The mirror in the parlour was crooked and dirty. The front porch and entrance was dirty and had not been cleaned in a while. The gardens, have not been looked after and tended to, to the standards of the original owner. Then there was the fire alarm on the second night at 12:15 AM ! All the guests were in the driveway for about an hour, one of the guests finally called the fire department, and the fire department showed up after that phone call was made. Then we all waited in the middle of the night for the fire department to check out the place, but they did not have access to a lot of the place because of locked main office and locked rooms. Finally we were told it was a dirty smoke detector. Seems the fire alarm system did not alert the fire department or the owners of the manor. Then we did not sleep, we packed out bags, just in case the place actually caught fire ! Very scary in an old wooden inn. The REVIEW, and the Reviews. When we checked out in the morning, we asked for a refund for the second night because of the fire alarm , the staff didn’t even know about the fire alarm incident, and promised to have the owner call us to discuss. We waited for a call that didn’t happen. We then wrote a nice email. No reply. I then called three more times and finally the owner and I had a discussion. No consideration whatsoever.
