Hitchin Priory Hotel

What can I say other than an amazing hotel, staff are lovely so helpful and accommodating, the breakfast was lush and made to order. The rooms are very basic no fridge however very comfsty beds. Free parking if you are staying at the hotel, the location is prime a stones throw away from the main square. Lots of lovey restaurants the place is buzzing on a Saturday night. Beautiful buildings right in the heart of Hitchen. So much promise. Upon checking in I was told breakfast was from 7.30, which is later than most hotels. I’d asked if they can have anything for me a little earlier as I had to be back on the road. I was promised a breakfast to take away but… nope. Nothing left for me which was frustrating! My room was small, the whole place feels really tired. Needs some significant investment and love. Shower was ok but very small. Such a shame as it’s a wonderful property in a perfect central location. I won’t be back.

Perfect afternoon tea, delicious sandwiches, warm scones and gorgeous cakes. Very reasonable price. The customer service was excellent, we were looked after by David with great professional courtesy, nothing was too much trouble. He really enhanced our afternoon. Thank you. Highly recommend

We had a truly horrible Christmas Afternoon Tea.. small, hard scones, almost frozen sandwiches; the turkey one tasted like sliced pre-packed meat; unappetising undercooked sausage roll - I complained but to no avail … don’t waste your money

We held the reception after my father's funeral at the Hitchin Priory Hotel. The room was superb, with lovely views across the grounds. We had the finger buffet, which was perfect for the occasion, with a bar available, and plenty of good sized tables for the guests, and to put the funeral flowers on. The staff were very helpful and it allowed the family to circulate without having to worry about the catering.

Our son and new daughter - in - law held their wedding reception at Hitchin Priory last Friday after their wedding at St. Mary's church and we had a fantastic day and night. The building itself and its grounds make for great photo opportunities and the staff, organised by a lady called Sue, couldn't have been more helpful. Our contingent from the North East stayed at thePriory on both the eve of and on the wedding night and everyone was pleased with their rooms, large and very comfy. The breakfast was served between 8.00 and 10.00, so no need to get up early and there was a good selection of cold and hot food. The price for anyone staying over was £75/room/night, this included the breakfast and also car parking and I don't expect we'll ever see this price anywhere else again ! We would thoroughly recommend this venue !

We had our wedding at the hitchin priory yesterday and could not recommend this venue enough, everything from planning to the day after our wedding was terrific! Every member of staff from event coordinators, mangers, bar staff and cleaners were the most down to earth, polite professional people who all went above and beyond to make our day perfect, we had a couple of slight hiccups and they handled everything so respectfully and professional…… would 100% recommend this venue

I visited this hotel from West Sussex via Cambridge for a morning coffee since it’s a place steeped in history. On arrival it certainly lived up to its reputation. Sadly I was turned away although there were many empty seats around. The hotel being closed to the public due to other commitments. I find this hard to comprehend. May I suggest the manager with whom I spoke could have been more pragmatic and visionary either today or in the future. Furthermore it would have been extremely useful to have been advised on the hotels web site.

I made a reservation several month in advance to stay the night of my wedding. My venue is very close, so it was very convenient. Five weeks before I contact them to sort out payment in advance and not having to do it the day of our wedding just to find out they are cancelling my booking. Shameful behaviour! and they didn't even have the courtesy to contact me in advance. I found out because I contact them. The excuse was that if you don't have an event with them you can't book. So why do you took the booking in the first place? The clearly were just waiting for a bigger booking with more guest. I even have the email confirmation and we spoke with someone on the phone when we reserve the room. Nothing was mention before about having to have an event with them or that our booking was not secure. Really dissapointing and not even an apology from this people.
