Motel 88

This place is in the Twilight Zone. Maybe an old Howard Johnson’s? Attached to a defunct Chinese Buffet Restaurant/defunct martial arts studio. Weird all the way around. Room was “clean” but you can’t really clean a 60 year old room last rehabbed 40 years ago. Cracked tub, scratchy towels, TV only through Roku; like no access to live local TV. Price was “reasonable” because everything else is insanely over priced, but it’s actual rate should be about $50/night. Very sketchy people kinda living there. Would not willingly stay here alone again; would NEVER take my wife or daughter here. Avoid this hotel or negotiate a lower price.

There should be more safety features in bathroom. Tub needs a mat or safety *****s as it was slippery. Cover on bed was stained, no garbage can in bathroom. The air conditioner was extremly loud. Staff were wonderful.

The AC wasn't functional, the carpet was filthy, and nothing had been cleaned in general. They did bring fresh towels each day. Definitely a stay where you get what you pay for.

Best place to stay. 4 mins away from All Star Village. Don’t spend too much money in chain hotels. This place is clean and safe and convenient.

The room was clean and quiet! I stayed for 6 days and didn’t have any issues! Not the most updated but still very close to All Star Village and not expensive!

Decent low-cost motel. Clean and comfortable. Could use a grab bar in the shower. And a mat or anti-skid *****s for the tub would also be good.

For the price, it wasn’t bad. Just not great. Peeling paint, dated decor, people living there, and a loud neighbor were minor issues. But the beds were clean, they serviced the rooms daily, the shower pressure was great, and if you’re there for baseball, there’s nothing closer to the Cooperstown All-Star Village. I had room 210. The water was hot and the AC worked. Nothing legitimate to complain about. If they’d spend a bit to fix it up, this place could be a great spot. Just some paint, really.

For my purposes this hotel was perfect. It’s not fancy by any means, but I was traveling alone after dropping my son to stay in the dorms at cooperstown baseball world. This was the most economical choice, and the location is very close to Suny Oneonta where the games were played as well as restaurants and main street. It’s about 5 minutes drive to the fields, dorms, restaurants, yoga studio and gym which are the places I was targeting. The staff was very nice. The rooms were outdated except some updates to the bathroom , but they were cleaned and restocked daily and comfortable. I wouldn’t recommend it for a romantic getaway, but definitely recommend it if you are traveling under similar circumstances and just need a clean central location in Oneonta.

The one big negative was the poor quality of Wifi for the guests. Other than that, the room was perfect.
