Ouray Chalet Inn

If you want a great central location in Ouray a a very fair price, look no further. We have stayed at the Inn several times over the years and it's always been a clean, well maintained older property. You can get more amenities elsewhere I'm sure but at a much higher cost and you're not going to beat the location.

We really enjoyed our stay at Ouray Chalet Inn in mid Sept. 2021. The hotel is in the center of town and parking is adequate. Look out your window at the surrounding peaks! Check in was easy and you can't beat the price for location and comfort. This would be our first choice for any subsequent visits!

I'm one of those people who over-researches EVERYTHING. We were planning on spending three days in the area and it was imperative that I find the ultimate value hotel, while still meeting my wife's expectations. I found about three hotels in the area that I thought would work, but the Ouray Chalet Inn was the definite winner. Make sure that you understand the cancellation policy of any hotel you book. My wife reminded me of that bit of knowledge because we were traveling during the time of an uptick in COVID cases at home and abroad. Many of the other properties in the area require several days or even weeks to cancel without penalty. The Chalet Inn only required 24 hours. When we arrived we were greeted warmly and given two actual metal keys. Some of the younger crowd may have to find a relevant Youtube video to understand how to use them. The room was very spacious. We were traveling for a week and we're chronic overpackers, but we still had plenty of room to scatter our bags out for our three day stay. The water pressure was great and the water was plenty hot. The beds were comfy and clean. The wifi worked well. That's all the normal stuff I hope for with a hotel, whether traveling for business or leisure. What set the Ouray Chalet Inn apart was something a little above and beyond. The Million Dollar Highway (CO-550) was slated to be closed during the day for construction during our stay. I had NO idea about that until the folks at the hotel sent me an email about the closure with all the pertinent details. While I did experience some mild panic when I read the email, I was able to make some minor adjustments to our plans to fit the highway's closure. I was so thankful for them sending that simple little email. I think that's the touch that a smaller operation can give as opposed to the bigger chains, not that all of them do. It's a great place to stay that's in the middle of downtown, but still quiet and tranquil. Just across from the historic Beaumont Hotel and a very short walk to great restaurants and gift shops. They'll earn your business.

Perfect location! However, the site needs to be updated. A remodel will turn this into the premier location. The beds are ok, but bathrooms and layout of the rooms are in dire need of a change. Overall, if you are in Ouray, this is a great place to stay, just don't bring high expectations for room quality. The staff was EXCEPTIONAL!
