Grootberg Lodge

Fantastic and unique location, worth spending at least one night. Rooms are small but clean and very comfortable; very friendly staff too. Dinner was rather disappointing

Wow! What a wonderful place to stay. The view from the terrace and pool are astonishing to say the least. We had no complaints about our lodging, yes it’s rustic but look where you are! The bed was clean and comfortable, the shower worked fine and you can sit on your balcony and just step away from the troubles in the world and take it all in, priceless. If fancy trappings and luxury is what you want, then stay away - please. Our evening meal, which was a set menu was excellent as was the breakfast the next day. How they get the fresh supplies is a mystery? The staff were all brilliant and even sang to us after dinner, very special. This lodge is up a very steep unpaved road, you will not make it without 4WD but there is a lodge at the bottom with parking who will presumably transport you if needed. We stayed all over Namibia for two weeks and whilst there were many special places, this one is the first that comes to mind when I think of this trip.

We had a flat tyre and Brian phoned around and found us a spare. Fantastic service. Beautiful campsite grounds.

You have camped one night ! The camp is so beautiful, in the nature ! And we have take a visit : Tamara cultural walk : it's the best of our trip ! Our guide was so interesting !

we will visit the lodge again its very relaxing and nice, we will have like to knew about the spa facilities and also the rooms are very small. we enjoyed the stay we wanted the book one extra night stay.

A magical place with spectacular views from the reception area and room. A very warm welcome from the staff (although they were not sure of our accomodation details and would have been good to be clearer on when guests could walk around in terms of lions being around). Beautiful sunset view from the deck and amazing pool which was cool and needed during the hot period. Great breakfast spread and dinner was delicious too with the staff being very friendly and high level of service. The staff do a wonderful performance in their language and get the guests involved too- however they did do this while we were eating dinner so we felt a bit awkward eating and watching (so we suggest doing it when guests are finished) and then was also a bit too long. Rustic room decor with great views (from the shower too). Roads are not great through damaraland so give yourself time and don't recommend to drive at night. Overall highly recommend Grootberg for couples:)

If you like a peace of mind Hoada Campsite is the best and the staff are helpful. The campsite is clean and there is noise.. The swimming pool between the rocks is beautiful. Really enjoy my stay at Hoada Campsite

The view is to die for. Walking into reception/lounge its a breathtaking view down the valley. Food and staff great - although the guy that I presume was the manager was really indifferent to the guests, however another member David made up for that. I have to say though that the lodges/rooms are really sub standfard for a property like this and in this price bracket. They are basic in the extreme - you could say 'rustic' but they're not, its more like staying in a shepherds hut. The curtains were threadbare and with holes, (lodge14) interior was basically painted brick and stone. Room was poorly equipped not only was there no aircon thete were no power sockets and only one light in the bathroom although there were small bedside lights these were really inadequate. As someone else mentions the path to lodge 14 is quite long and the stonework very uneven- you cannot drag a case it has to be carried. Its such a shame, there is so much potential here but I wouldn't want to stay in that lodge again.

Phantastic location with exceptional view. Very friendly and courteous service. We stayed (and recommend) 2 nights to relax after travelling the more northern part of Namibia. Joining the infinity pool is a must.
