I was looking forward to this experience but was very disappointed. This is an old hotel at the heart of Paphos, with a traditional feel and design. That makes for a good starting point for a good experience, but reality is different. Rooms are extremely poorly furnished, and whatever renovations were done in a poor manner that basically left rooms with holes and plaster and external piping. The first room we were offered was suffocating small. It has a staircase to the roof, and when we opened that door a lizard ran out! We immediately asked for a different room, and they offered us another which was just as small as we refused it, so were offered a room with triple beds at an extra charge of 30 euros/night which was acceptable with a street view. Lighting is dim across the hotel, really dim! You cannot control the AC in the room, it’s on off only which is useless. Most rooms have 20” TVs, the one we got had a new big screen TV, which only had 8 channels most of which are in Greek! There’s no elevator, and it’s only one flight of stairs, but there’s no one to help you with the luggage. There was no one at the reception when we got there. We had to look for one to check us in. There doesn’t seem to be any sufficient staffing. And this lack of staff and service people continues to all areas. There’s no water bottles in the room, but there’s a water cooler in the corridor where you can fill up. Breakfast is something you can do without here. It’s repetitive and lacking, and mostly cold. If anything runs out, there’s no one to replenish it. We had to look for one of the staff to get us bread and they brought it cold from the fridge (not fresh and stale). Bedding is cheap, shampoo is bad. Only thing good about the hotel is location. It’s a shame as it has the potential to offer a seriously different experience.
