Hotel Solitudo

There are good and bad things about this place. The location is excellent. You are right on the beach. You just leave your room and hop into the sea. There are plenty of sites within walking distance (Borova Bay, Pod Pojice, Submarine tunels, etc.). The food at the hotel was quite good. Now the negatives....The infrastructure in the hotel is barely hanging on. When you investigate the hotel facilities (the gym, spa, ball room, etc.) it looks like a place that had past better days. The gym machines were mostly broken. The room we were in was falling apart. The shower curtain was hanging on an edge, the water pressure was low, the TV only worked for the first couple days, etc. I could go on. Overall, the room we were in needed a thorough overhaul. On a positive note, the bed was comfortable and the room was relatively clean. The staff seemed exhausted and grumpy. They did their job well though. The hotel is massive and it seemed that only a handful of staff were keeping everything together. They worked non-stop. The hotel should hire more staff and renovate the facilities.

It's a rustic old place, with a certain charm. Or, well, at least it used to be I guess. What with the extremely uncomfortable old beds and hygiene being questionable at best (mold, rust, dirt, everywhere) the location is about the only good thing about this place these days. And they seem to rely on it, as well as the fact that it's the only hotel on the island. I've heard amazing stories about what food was like, say - only last year. But this year? The breakfast "buffet" is same every day, and extremely limited. No fresh salads, just eggs and cheap salami, maybe hotdogs and French toast if you get there early enough. They run out of things half-way through and add nothing. The dinner is what you choose the day before (between the two offered) and it's extremely basic. Without any salad, or even a glass of water. God forbid you need to ask for anything, the staff in the restaurant is incredibly slow, unfriendly, impolite and rude - to the point of hostile. And don't even think about taking it (say, a complaint about them shortening the dinner time without any announcement past printed A4 on the glass that nobody looks at - and you being left out without any food because you were "late" five minutes) to the manager - who is an even more unpleasant and rude man, who'll refuse to look at you while speaking, and then dismiss you and leave mid-sentence. I've travelled a LOT, granted - rarely these average 3* hotels but I've never ever seen such a mix of incredibly BAD service, from top to bottom. No wonder if the staff is like they've gathered them from the unemployment bureau, if the "manager" is like that. This is barely a 1* service, a 0* more likely. Which is a pity. Lastovo is a gorgeous island. The nature is amazing, people are very friendly and warm, and food (anywhere out of that hotel, since I assume - their a la carte menu comes with the same incompetent, slow and unfriendly staff) is delicious. So, wholeheartedly recommend the visit. As long as you avoid this place. No one expects much from a 3* hotel, but what you will actually get in Solitudo - is just preposterous.

I found the hotel to be very dated, very tired and in major need of updating. Dirty/stained carpets throughout the hotel. Furniture with missing doors etc. The location is amazing the hotel has huge potential. The hotel provided a great transport service to and from the port.

An amazing place and hotel. Staff friendly. Great food especially the home made bread and olive oil. Rooms comfortable with gorgeous views. The evening meal is definitely worth having particularly the baked fish.

We have never been in a hotel this dirty and neglected in any way. The service is terrible, completely uninterested in welcoming guests. The food is also quite bad and portions are very small. There is a great terrace on 1st floor with a beautiful sea view, but it was closed! On the second terrace on the ground floor where we ate, sewage was leaking and it smelled strongly of feces for several days, no one was interested in solving it and as if that is the "normal situation". The hotel is marked with three stars, but it does not deserve even for one. This deserves to be checked by the competent sanitary institutions, that's how bad it is Check the pictures.

Un cadre triste pour cet hôtel qui porte un nom de solitude... on pourrait espérer le calme mais c'est surtout la déprime qui nous guette. Hall sombre, pas d'accueil souriant, pas de charme. Bref, pas envie de revenir !
