Villa Varenna

Loved staying here. It’s old school Italian with the herringbone floors and big chunky keys and lovely hosts. The location was ideal as it’s right next to the train station but removed from the town center just enough to feel remote and exclusive. The walk to the restaurants is only a couple minutes anyways. The hosts were incredibly kind and served a full breakfast each morning. I stayed in the room with the balcony and it was such a treat to wake up to the birds.

Villa Varenna is a wonderful place to stay. It was my first time in Northern Italy. My wife and I took a train from the central station in Milan for a 50 minute ride to the Varenna station. It was a short walk up the hill to Villa Varenna. Mauro showed us to our room and made recommendations for our dinner on the lake that evening. The room was clean and comfortable. The best part our stay was the amazing Breakfast in the courtyard overlooking the lake. Great value and location for easy walk to the lake and train.

Amazing, friendly, helpful hosts with a lovely guesthouse to boot! Mauro made our stay so comfortable, like staying at a friend’s house…simple but very delicious breakfast each day along with a warm welcome. Look no further if you want to stay in Varenna and slow down and just take life in for a change :)

My husband and I stayed here while we were visiting Varenna. Loved this place. Mauro, the owner of the villa, was friendly and gave great recommendations of restaurants and sites to see. He also went above and beyond helping us to find transportation to Milan when our train was canceled due to track closure because of heavy rains. The room was clean and spacious and the bed comfortable. The breakfasts were delicious (fruit, pastries, bread, yogurt with muesli, and meats and cheeses). Mauro also made wonderful cappuccinos. If we ever visit Varenna again, we would definitely stay here. Bob and Beth Martucci

We wished we had had more time in Varenna and more time to get to know Mauro, Paulo, and Roosevelt (their French Bulldog) and be spoiled by their hospitality and beautiful accommodations. We stayed in Villa 5 and enjoyed delightful sunny views and shaded serenity via two terraces. Renovations were top notch but maintain the charm of the villa’s history. Ciao for now Mauro. A wonderful stay at Villa Varenna. Perfect location, short walk from the station, to the ferries and into the main part of Varenna. Beautiful views from the property and our terrace. Mauro and his family were very friendly and welcoming and it was so nice to be served breakfast instead of a buffet, the croissants were to die for! The real highlight though was of course Roosevelt!

Was meant to stay here as a couple but to unforeseen divorce I travelled on my own to a wedding, and they have made me feel so welcome, they have been very caring and they do a very good job of making sure you are catered for. This villa is perfect, and the views are stunning Coffee and breakfast every day was very nice, and the location is perfect, far enough away from the noise but close enough to walk to the main *****, and right near the ferry and train stations. The room was fantastic, bed was very comfortable and the shower was nice and powerful/hot. The Balcony and the view ❤️❤️❤️❤️ if I come back, I won’t look anywhere else, this was everything I needed and more Thank you for welcoming me to your lovely home, sending all my love to you two and Roosevelt the Boston Terrier

We loved our stay at Villa Varenna! Mauro and Paulo were wonderful hosts, and made us feel so welcomed. STRONGLY recommend you upgrade for the terrace room. The view of Lake Como and the Alps were magnificent. Waking up each morning, and having coffee on the terrace was a highlight of the trip. Mauro was so very helpful in telling us the best places to eat, Breakfast was lovely. Quiet area, even though we were minutes from train station. Rooms were very clean

If you are looking for an affordable little hotel with a super friendly staff, nice accommodations, great breakfast, and a great location - then Villa Veranna is for you. Added bonus was our room’s lovely veranda with an extraordinary view of the lake was a perfect place to relax and enjoy a bottle of local wine. Highly recommend that anyone visiting Lake Como make this great little hotel your base for enjoying all the area has to offer.
