Relais Casamassima

The last review was last year so a lot could have happened since then. The rooms as the photos show are modern and very nice. No complaints there. Anna the owner was very helpful in advice on were to go and eat. The breakfast was good but unusually you have to order it when arriving with the time and from then on the time and request stayed the same. Odd we thought. You can change it. What really disappointed us was the state of the garden, pool area and dirty chairs. we were told all this would change from the first of June. I have my doubts. That is the reason we have only given this place Average. We had dinner her it was good Pasta , meat and an excelent desert. But at 125 Euros for two with a glass of wine and coffee we thought very very expensive. I would advice anyone booking to ask to see pictures of the pool area and deck area if this is something important you you. If you just want a good modern room in a nice area and no more this is a good place to stay.

Stayed at this beautiful old olive farm for five days in early June. Anna, the owner, made us feel so welcome with her warm hospitality and her delight in sharing the many interests and attributes the rural area offers and seeking to align her visitors’ interests with local availability. In this respect we visited the most impressive Perugino art exhibition in Perugia as well as the astonishing array of frescoes in the Basilica of St Francis in Assisi. Anna was a mine of information, recommending a wide variety of activities and places to visit. The setting for the farm is in very peaceful and luxuriant countryside with an abundance of plants and trees all adding to the sense of calm tranquility. The accommodation provides for every need , very comfortable and spacious, a place to relax and enjoy restorative time at the side of the pool. Meals are a delight-an excellent breakfast with many choices including fruit in season together with home baked cake whilst Anna, who is a wonderful cook, will provide some evening meals introducing us to simple and delicious local cuisine accompanied by some of the wine made from the vines grown by her and her husband. Much of the produce comes from their vegetable garden.This is a quiet area, “off the beaten track”, but within easy reach of the airport at Perugia and an excellent place to stay to explore the ancient hill top cities and towns in this region or the surrounding countryside. I came here with my daughter and her partner and we wholeheartedly recommend and thank Anna and her staff for their kindness and sensitivity in making this such a welcome and refreshing holiday break- many thanks.

I spent 9 days at this charming rural escape with a friend. Anna the owner and her staff were very welcoming, friendly and gave helpful suggestions and reliable recommendations about the local area. The breakfast and evening meals were delicious as was the wine from their oiwn vineyar. Our twin room was very comfortable. There is a beautiful wild garden full of birds and butterfies a sun terrace overlooking the valley towards Perugia and walks nearby. I recommend it for a peaceful getaway and base for exploring providing you have a car.

The agriturismo has a great location outside of Perugia. The setting was beautiful - nice building and courtyard; beautiful pool and deck; good parking. Our room was clean and nicely decorated (we had Suite 2) - although be warned there is no separate shower in this one - it’s incorporated into the tub in a very awkward manner. The breakfasts were good (don’t expect an English or American breakfast - this is Italy and you will get a nice Italian style breakfast) with wonderful service at breakfast. So….why not 5 stars?? Two things that made this a good, but not excellent stay - (a) when we arrived, we were shown to a room up a long flight of stairs. Nice room - we fully unpacked (we were staying for a week) and just about to go meet our friends when we were informed that she had put us in the wrong room - ok, a mistake - but she made no offer or attempt to correct her mistake by either helping us to repack or move our things to the correct room (completely on the other side of the house) - very poor service that started our visit on a bad note; and (b) the woman working at the check in was not very knowledgeable about the area or things to do - we were basically on our own (other than help getting taxis), and no help trying to arrange for transportation to a winery - these are the types of things a good inn or agriturismo should excel at.

We loved staying at Casamassima. The views are breathtaking and we lounged by the pool most days. There aren’t many rooms so it feels like you have the place to yourself. We were in suite 4 which was very spacious and comfortable. The breakfasts were lovely and a couple of times when we wanted to eat lunch or dinner, Anna organised a homemade meal using vegetables from their garden. Although it’s in the countryside, it’s only 10-15 minutes from town in a taxi. Perugia old town is very fun and we went out every night. There are also two beautiful cats at the relais.

Excellent! The hotel is located in the beautiful green landscape near Perugia. Everything is really charming, our room was big enough and well decorated. The bathroom is perfect and very clean. Most of all, Anna is a very welcoming and dedicated host. We had dinner several times at the hotel, all homemade fresh meals and a perfect special meal for the 15th of august. Relais Casamassima is a place where you feel at home. Thank you

This was our second visit to Relais Casamassima and it didn’t disappoint. Looking for a quiet place to stay before we joined our three married kids and their spouses for our tour of Italy, this hideaway ticked all the boxes. From the enthusiastic hospitality of Anna and her team, Lucceta and Alyssea, to the delightfully decorated and well stocked rooms, to the generous breakfasts on the terrace and the view of the vineyard clad hills of Umbria from the refreshing pool terrace…it was a perfect five night stay. While they directed us to some good restaurants for dinner, our best dinner was the one Anna prepared the evening we arrived. Relais Cassimissima is a working farm run by Anna and her husband. Not your average farm but one that’s been in the family for three generations that is rich with acres of vineyards, olive groves, sheep and other assorted gardens and crops. So the food served in the generous breakfast is truly ‘local’. It’s a very special place to stay. Thanks Anna and team for such gracious hospitality!

We enjoyed four nights in a spacious suite at Relais Casamassima. We can't say enough about the responsive and knowledgeable staff, Lucetta and Alessia. They were always there to help and were very easy to communicate with. The accommodations are just as advertised. Do be aware that dinner, unless pre-arranged is no longer served daily. But the dinner we did arrange for our arrival day was excellent, as was breakfast every morning on the terrace.

We recently stayed here and we’re completely confused by the previous reviews as we had a different experience. Pros: great place in the countryside near Perugia. If you’re looking for a low key and rustic place to visit in the mountains outside the city, this is for you. Great views and also has a pool. Breakfast included and the limited amount of rooms makes the place feel like your own. Cons: 1. There is no food after breakfast so you must leave for any meals or drinks. We asked on day 1 about any way to bring a chef in or whatever our options were and we were told that we had no options on site. This is not a problem if you are planning to explore the towns nearby during the day and have dinner in Perugia at night. Plan accordingly. 2. There is no one to help you after 4pm. Limited support to get taxis into town, book reservations or support with suggestions on activities to do. We were mislead on a few things to do by staff, which lead to us finding our own way. 3. Our room had many issues. A leaking AC with a rag in a bucket to catch the water. Mold on the wall from this as well as water on the floor. A clogged bathroom sink that wouldn’t drain upon arrival and nothing was fixed until halfway through our stay. 4. They ask you leave towels on the floor after use, we did this once after 2 days as our towels wouldn’t dry in the rooms as they can remain muggy. This resulted in us not being given new bath towels as they apparently ran out. When we tried again for new towels, the cleaning service picked up the wet ones on the floor and hung them back up for us to reuse. 5. Don’t lift up the mattresses. You’ll find an army of dead bugs.
