In the summer of 2019, I gradually brought home a number of books, most of them bought by weight. One day, a guest told me: “Reading requires patience and solitude. Books that are bought but never read are like distant stars — countless, yet unreachable.” And so, for me, these books have truly become those distant stars. You can rest assured about cleanliness. All bedding and consumables are changed after every guest. The surroundings are quiet, the air is fresh. There is only the murmur of the stream, the soft rustling of trees stirred by the wind, and the joyful calls of birds in the early morning — as if nothing else exists. I believe you will sleep well at Magpie Homestay. Looking back, I still clearly remember the emotion I felt when I first started this guesthouse in 2018. At that time, I was shy and reserved, instinctively keeping a distance from most guests, yet at the same time deeply curious about them, with an unspoken desire to connect. Occasionally, when I met someone I could truly talk with, we would find ourselves chatting late into the night without noticing the time. We shared travels, films, and reflections on life, and spoke freely about the future. Everyone seemed so optimistic, each carrying hope for tomorrow. Time passes quickly. It feels as though everything suddenly faded away. To be honest, business has been difficult in recent years, and as we grow older, it becomes harder to easily hold onto that simple, pure sense of joy and fulfillment.
