La Grrande Malar - the Boutique Hotel Pondicherry

RUDE RECEPTIONIST UNCLE, CLOGGED BATHROOMS. RUSTED SHOWER HEADS. ARROGANT UNCLE. NON EXISTENT SERVICE. PAY THEM YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY, TO RUIN YOUR HOLIDAY. ALTERNATIVELY STAY IN A CHEAP LODGE. A) The guy on reception was extremely rude and ruined the checkin experience. He although we had 3N booking for 2 rooms, he kept waving 2 different ott booking forms claiming i had both for 2N first, later that one room for 2Nand another for 3N. I asked him to show the prints he was waving at me, but never gave. After my son saw the name on one of the prints , right from his hands, thats when he changed his stance and made us wait for more time before giving us the room. Mistake from his side? NO. because the moment we came in a younger guy took in the id's and allocated us the rooms already.. but this guy elbowed his younger staff out and played this drama. 2)There were mosquitoes galore on N1. we tried calling reception several times, they put the phone aside. athey dont respond. cheap lodges are better 3) Went down and asked for mosquito repellent and an iron box day 2. said yes never sent. Went down again to give a piece of mind and then got it delivered. 4) Kids locked themselves out with the key card in the room in the morning... informed them about it in the morning itself while stepping out for the day CREATED drama FOR 15 MTS IN THE EVENING BEFORE GIVING US THE KEY.

Hotel is good in it’s category. Hotel location is good 600 0r 700 meter from beach. Food was also good

Very convenient location for white town and promenade beach. Good restaurant and ample food options outside. The rooms as well as the bathrooms feel new. Good water pressure in shower. Room service works well but do keep a tab on your items as we lost some after housekeeping thought the sandals in green-bags was garbage.

Location is around 600-700metres from the beach but the hospitality is quite average. The options in the breakfast were also very less. Called so many times to just order the dinner and it took around 30-40 mins to bring the food.

Hotel located at prime location in evening dinner and dj was awesome, one can hire bike or activa just 20 meters from hotel. Overall it was nice place to stay.

I would like to rate it overall as good based on following factors: 1) location: very good 2) staff: courteous, very helpful and quick response. 3) rooms: decent rooms but problem is of sound, this causes issues related to privacy, the voice from adjacent room can very easily be heard. Management need to pay very special care in cleaning of linens, we could easily find out stains in the bedsheets. 4) cafe/lounge on the 5th floor: so here the problem is for the rooms of 4th floor which is just underneath the 5th floor with cafe which plays loud music on weekends upto 12, so this is the problem for those looking for peaceful sleep.
