Grand Hotel Kronenhof

Always a pleasure to come back to Kronenhof with family. One of the best kids friendly hotels we have ever been. The room is spacious, clean, the food is tasty and the flowers in the hotel are always a lot and fresh. The reception is big and welcoming, as well the staff. All people that work for this hotel are nice and polite.

This is excellent place to relax for a family with a dog. Everyone has something to do: from billiard, kids club, swimming pool, SPA to a fine dining. Food was excellent. We were taken care by Mario during our dinings, who was very attentive and professional.

I use to spend one week in Pontresina at the Kronhenoff in March every year and could not expect a better experience. The SPA is just amazing with a wonderful view and relaxing athmosfere, the service is at a very high standard particularly at the Grand Restaurant where excellent food and fine wine are ready to spoil you. I suggest also for just a week end

The Kronenhof does not disappoint! From the piano music in the lovely lobby lounge to the wonderful swimming pool and spa area to beautifully appointed rooms and very helpful and pleasant staff, it again lives up to its five star reputation. The shuttle service to the ski slopes worked perfectly and the convenience of having the skiroom area immediately adjacent to the loading of the shuttle busses was much appreciated!

Excellent hotel in beautiful Pontresina with great service and super friendly staff. The Fireplace suite was spacious with everything you might need and more and beautiful views on top. Very good breakfast and great pool and spa. Kronenhof Bar is one of the best looking hotel bars I have seen. Well recommended!

Our stay took place toward the end of summer and the views are literally breathtaking once you are there in person, standing in the middle of it all. Even though I would have loved to see the fall foliage and winter snow landscapes, the distant mountains lit by moonlight was magical. The spa and sauna melted my troubles away. A swim in the indoor pool was an elevated experience with a huge outdoor view. Our room was comfortable and kept tidy and clean by housekeeping, twice a day. Every morning in the sunny ballroom, there was a huge array of breakfast foods to choose from, complete with dairy-free and gluten-free options (which my lactose-intolerant self very much appreciated). Every night, the dinner had a different menu but I couldn’t seem to ever choose a dish that wasn’t a 5-star culinary experience in thoughtful portions (and I tried both vegetarian and regular menus). Each course was served straight to our candlelit table by professional wait staff while we were serenaded by the talented pianist who never played the same music twice. The theme of the hotel embodied “elegance” which was immediately apparent in the lounges and bar room, furnished with luxurious but comfortable pieces and tasteful floral arrangements. If you’re looking for THE warm, lavish, and classy hotel experience, this is it. What you don’t see in the pictures here is the level of hospitality and service the concierge and staff possess. After a series of unfortunate airline events, my husband and I realized one of our checked bags did not fly with us to the airport and was deemed missing - the one that had, among other travel necessities, our suits and evening dresses. Worrying about the dress code for the dinners at the hotel, we immediately notified the concierge about what happened and we were assured that we could be accommodated. Once we arrived, they were able to provide us with quite a few replacements for the essentials and toiletries we lost and helpfully offered to send someone to the nearby pharmacy in town with a list of whatever else we needed. For the dinners, they provided a spare jacket for my husband (and I happened to have just the one semi-formal outfit in our luggage) so that we could still adhere to the dress code and enjoy the experience, which we were and still are very grateful for. Even after our stay concluded, we still felt the same level of care from the staff. After returning home, my husband and I realized that the hiking trails map of Muottas Muragl (highly recommended to hike, by the way, it’s relatively easy with amazing views throughout) that we wanted to keep as a souvenir was accidentally thrown out. My husband wrote to the hotel, asking if they could send us another copy, and they happily obliged by sending us THREE maps with a thoughtful note - this should give you an idea of their hospitality. I chose this hotel and Pontresina over staying at Badrutt’s Palace in St Moritz, and that was probably the best decision I made this year. I truly could not have been more impressed by this hotel. I have stayed at the best hotels in the world, but this place left a deep impression on me. I hate formality, so the idea of needing a jacket for dinner was daunting, but the place is so suffused with a sense of welcoming and comfort - and it is so transportive to a bygone era of jetset-era travel without being stuffy - that I wouldn’t change a single thing. This is a magical place and I will be back.

During our week long drive through Switzerland we stayed here for two nights and it was a great location to stay prior to the drive to Stelvio Pass. The aesthetic was straight out of a Wes Anderson film as were the idiosyncratic characters we met during our time here. We felt transported to a world frozen in time — an Old World that may have existed at one point but felt out of sync with the present. But for many I’d imagine that is the appeal. Dinner in the restaurant was very much about the experience of being served and it was quite memorable. Very glad we stayed here as we will never forget it, but it’s not necessarily the kind of hotel we typically choose. We’re likely not the target demographic but for those looking for what’s served there, we would strongly recommend.

My wife and I spent 7 nights at the hotel. This was our 4th stay in in 4 years. We had half board and therefore enjoyed dinner every night in the grand restaurant. The staff were great as usual. The spa and pool area is among the best around. I would recommend this hotel to everyone.
