Grand Hotel Santa Domitilla

The hotel itself is beautiful. Excellent location. Stunning restaurant. Wonderful pool and bar area but I have never experienced reception staff so rude in my life. They tried to tell us we couldn’t book a table at the restaurant for about 3 nights in a row even though there were multiple tables free. It was like they were playing a game with foreign tourists. When we finally got to go to the restaurant it was wonderful and so were the staff it was just a couple of really rude ladies on reception. It left a really sour taste. I get they want to keep their island for locals and don’t want to be over run like the Amalfi coast but some basic manners would not go astray especially when they are more than happy to take your money.

We had a wonderful stay! The room was great and the pools are amazing! We wish we could have stayed longer, but were trying to fit as much if Italy as we could in one week! I hope to be back to stay longer! Ponza as a whole speaks primarily Italian. I knew this going in. I was able to get by on the Italian I’ve learned and a translator. I didn’t find that this was a problem here or anywhere else in Ponza but I’m writing this so you know what to expect.

Ponza is an absolutely stunning island and you need at least four days to get around and check out all the beautiful coves. This hotel could be great but is let down by some of the reception staff. We had sent several emails regarding a transfer from the port to the hotel and got no replies so when we arrived there was no one to pick us up. A very nice man helped us with our luggage and organised a taxi for us. On arrival at the hotel there was not apology just excuses. All they had to do was say sorry but they couldn't do that. The manager of the hotel appeared to be very friendly to the Italian guests, but only greeted us on our last day. When we had a discussion on the pool of the spa area. Apparently to sit on a lounge chair in this area you have to book the chair and you can only have it for two hours. All this is fine and I completely understand the reasons in the busy time, but it should be explained to guests on check in not when you go to sit down. The hotel and the grounds are really nice and the pool area is great. The cleaning staff and the staff in the breakfast room were amazing and nothing was too much trouble. The rooms are nice but basic, but ours had a beautiful view. I realise that most people we met in Ponza were Italian and I think this hotel caters more for these guests. Our best experience was having dinner at Gennarino a Mare. We enjoyed the food so much we ate their twice. The setting was stunning, great service and the food was outstanding.

Hotel con ottima posizione Personale di sala educato preparato e gentilissimo. Camera pulita peccato x l' affaccio .ma ci siamo stati talmente poco che è ininfluente.

Hotel elegante, accogliente, centrale ma tranquillo. Comodissime le piscine a disposizione dei clienti, camere ben tenute e personale cordialissimo. Abbiamo particolarmente apprezzato la disponibilità della Direzione a risolvere un brutto contrattempo che ci ha costretto ad anticipare il rientro. Non vediamo l’ora di poterci tornare

Ottima posizione, camera confortevole con parziale vista sul porto. Eccezionale centro benessere. Ottima colazione . Personale cortese ed disponibile. Unica pecca, la segnaletica, va migliorata!!! Per chi sbarca e non conosce l’isola è difficile trovarlo.

Hotel molto appariscente negli spazi comuni, rispondente alla categoria. Ristorante con location, servizio e qualità molto buoni. Lasciano invece a desiderare le camere, sicuramente di categoria inferiore per grandezza (la nostra camera familiare per 4 persone poteva andare bene per una coppia!!) e per avere un arredamento troppo essenziale e datato. Per meritare ancora le 4 stelle necessita sicuramente di una ristrutturazione

Nous avons été très déçus de notre séjour d’une semaine dans cet hotel. L’hotel est beau, très bien situé, le jardin et la décoration sont très bien. Ce sont les seuls points positifs ! Nous avons payé 310 € / nuit et ça ne les valait absolument pas. La chambre est très petite La douche fonctionne mal (tuyau de très mauvaise qualité) Balcon minuscule, pas de chaise Chambre très bruyante et mal insonorisée Sur le site internet il y a une page Beach Club, situé sur la plage de Frontone. C’est un contenu mensonger, l'hotel n'a pas de plage, nous avons du payer 60 € / jour pour 2 transats et un parasol ainsi que le bateau pour y aller (14 € jour pour 2 personnes). Ca fait 74 € en plus / jour !! Service petit déjeuner totalement désorganisé, pas assez de place, les tables sont sales, les serveurs viennent quand vous avez terminé vous demander si vous voulez un café… Restaurant sans plus… Aucune communication de la réception, beaucoup de personnel, mais aucune information, c’est très administratif, pas un mot gentil, pas un conseil sur les adresses où aller, les endroits à visiter, ils sont là pour facturer. Et le must : Wifi quasi absent des chambres (c’est normal selon la réception !). J’ai l’habitude de voyager dans les iles (Favignana, Capri, Ischia, Lipari …), et dans un hotel 4 étoiles à ce prix il est inadmissible de ne pas avoir de wi fi Suis très déçue de cet hotel
