I’ve stayed here many times over the last decade. This time (May 2024), I stayed for 3 days 2 nights, and the experience was extremely disappointing.
Room (water chalet) is extremely run down, walls are stained, glassware is dirty, sheets are stained and the bathroom is something out of a nightmare. To summarise, it’s dingy. The AC barely works, fan is noisy and is slow. If all this wasn’t enough to leave you with a sense of uneasiness, there was a used tooth brush in the shower when I checked in, meaning barely any care was given to ensure the room was fit for the incoming guest. (Refer to images). Not to mention the murky communal pool. Thank heavens for the adult only pool.
The experience was significantly made worse where holiday-makers (non-Muslim) are not allowed to have alcohol with your meal at the restaurant. You are rudely given the option to have it at the pool (imagine having a proper meal at the pool when it’s scorching hot out, and insects cluster at your food and drinks, which I experienced) or have it sent to your room (to dine in shame, just because you want a drink with your meal). Both options aren’t great, especially since I’m expected to fork out a pretty penny for the inflated prices. All other restaurants/bars in the resort (verte, galley, etc) were closed.
Unfortunately, this once renowned “resort” no longer caters to an international crowd but instead just for the locals to it’s own detriment. The staff can barely speak or comprehend English, are not friendly and have a spectacularly low level of customer service.
I think a lot of genuine reviews from well travelled individuals or even anyone with standards, have agreed with me.
Dear Avillion Management, this isn’t an attack but a wake up call. Please sort yourself out and restore the standards you once used to hold.
