Botanika Osa Peninsula, Curio Collection by Hilton

I love the Osa Peninsula and as a Diamond member with Hilton, I have tried to incorporate a few nights here whenever I am in the area since the resort opened This was my 3rd time staying at Botanika. I previously wrote reviews of my past stays from November 2022 and November 2023, so this review is of my most recent 3 night stay in April 2023. There were a few things on this stay that were a bit disappointing - At early checkin, at 12pm, I was told there was no water which means no showers, no washing hands, no flushing toilets. I learned it was not a municipality issue but rather a problem with the system on the resort property. They originally said it should be fixed by 2pm but kept pushing back the ETA and the day went on with no running water. We saw guests dipping water out of the pool using the room ice bucket to be able to go flush toilets. This was disappointing considering we arrived from a more rustic eco lodge and it was extremely hot during April so we all wanted to take a shower upon arrival. Needless to say, the water issue finally got fixed at 9pm to our building. Not having water throughout the entire resort is a pretty big inconvenience. The hotel did take $100 off our bill as a courtesy at check out. The second major issue we experienced was with the wooden boardwalks from the hotel entrance and lobby to the restaurant. In the short 3 years the property has been open, the tropical weather has taken a toll on the boards and many are in need of replacement as of when we were there. Within 15 minutes of arrival, my 76 year old mother in law was walking around outside, there was no caution signs and she stepped on a rotten board that gave way and her foot and calf went through the board. Luckily, she was not seriously hurt but her leg was scraped and she was sore from the fall the remainder of our vacation. I reported this immediately, showed two staff members and took photos but was very surprised a manager never apologized nor did they follow up. That was disappointing and surprising. I hope the owner/management will replace the deteriorating boards in this area and also on the bridge between the parking lot and the pool and room buildings. Pros: Beautiful, clean resort, stylish decor, lots of trees and tropical setting on the grounds, convenient location to explore many outside eco tours, both land and ocean. Room Quality- I love the spacious and modern design of the 2 bedroom, 2 bath suites complete with a living room, kitchen, and outdoor balcony from which you can usually spot Toucans, Aracaris, Capuchin and Howler monkeys. I’ve stayed in this room type with family on all three of my visits. Food - I love the food they prepare at Terra de la Mesa and the Pool Bar. The fish options are excellent and everything is well prepared! Beach Area: We love the idyllic setting at the Cahui Beach Club and the boat ride to and from is fun! We were hesitant to plan our Costa Rica trip during the "rainy season" but we were celebrating our wedding anniversary in May 2024. The weather was fantastic and we didn't have the crowds of the dry season. We chose the Botanika because we are Hilton Diamond members as well as its proximity to Corcovado National Park. We were upgraded to a 1 BR suite upon arrival, which was a pleasant surprise. We had a full kitchen and living room in addition to a beautiful balcony that overlooked the rainforest. I cannot emphasize how gorgeous this property is. We saw many different animals on site including capuchin monkeys, macaws, toucans, lizards and we heard the howler monkeys every day! We enjoyed a delicious breakfast at the resort each morning. Staff were gracious and welcoming hosts. We spent a half day (10am-2pm) at the Cahui Beach Resort, which is a quick boat ride away. We took advantage of the shuttle into town to stock up on some light snacks and alcohol to keep in our kitchen. We booked the kayaking and Corcovado park tours on site at the resort; well worth the money. The guides we had were extremely knowledgable. The bridge connecting the lobby to the resort rooms is, indeed, in need of repairs and the resort had cones to mark the areas that were hazardous. (I still had to get a picture on it!!) This was the only downside we could find in staying here. We loved this resort and the people - and we hope to return again someday!

I was a little worried when we booked this hotel. But once we arrived all fears went away. The hotel picked us up at the PJ “airport” and we were checked in at the front desk within no time. We stayed in a 3 bedroom suite which is actually a 2 bedroom suite with an adjoining room. The beds were comfortable and they even had a pillow menu which I appreciated where you could select from 6 specialty pillows to be delivered to the room. The food was good at all of our meals for our 4 night stay. We really enjoyed the food by the pool and the sushi night. The staff was nice and accommodating. We also enjoyed our day at their beach club. The water at the beach was calm and the beach is beautiful. The value of this resort was one of the best in Costa Rica!

Our room was large, with full kitchen and very spacious. It was luxurious and still immersed in nature. The pool was amazing with a large space and it was never crowded. It also had two separate hot tubs that were secluded. The rooftop deck was very nice and also had a hot tub along with a nice view of the mountains and tree tops.

The Botanika Osa is a superb hotel/resort. The staff are exceptional. Throughout our 10 day stay any and all issues or information requested was handled swiftly and efficiently. The staff's display of professionalism and pleasantness was always there. Special recognition to Mathew, Yeyson, Fabricio, Damian and Fabian for making our stay a wonderful experience. Eduardo the tour guide and director was the most knowledgeable and informative guide we have ever had in our decades of travel. Highly recommend staying at Botanika, if you want the ultimate experience while visiting the Osa Peninsula in Costa Rica.

When arriving to PJ, we got the feeling that we reached the end of the road. The Osa peninsula is still a rather remote part of costa rica. The Botanika resort is a great place to stay to enjoy all the area has to offer. We had a large 2 bedroom apartment, very well equipment with a nice deck and comfortable rooms. The pool was great and never very crowded, the sunscreen and sun lotions are much welcome as the sun is very strong there! Grounds are extensive and well maintained and make a nice walk. The Crocodile Bay resort nearby has a little shop. They offer transport to a nearby beach, with an establishment which is part of the resort. Usually that is reached by boat, but when we were driven in a 4x4. The beach is amazing and really wild with no people around. There are towels and showers there and they have good food and drinks.

The Botanika was a positive surprise - a very good hotel with friendly staff that provide excellent service at all times. We upgraded to a room with a sofa-bed and kitchen, which was extremely helpful because of our dietary restrictions. No noises were heard from other rooms, the AC works well, the surrounding nature is great, the tours to nearby locations (like Corcovado and sloths) are great. The only minor dissatisfaction was at the beach when we ordered a juice without sugar and they brought a glass with at least 1 inch of sugar in the bottom - but again this was very minor. Also our daughter took a massage at the spa which was not outstanding - only normal and expensive. The pool is very relaxing, and the restaurants are very good. The check-in service for the outgoing flights that they provide is excellent, as well as pick up from the arriving flight.

Beautiful resort, lovely pool area, clean and large rooms including good air conditioning. Lots of possibilities for tours starting nearby. Night tour possible at the resort in the surrounding forest, incredible to feel so close to nature and still be at a very luxurious resort. One of the best features at the resort was the kindness and helpfulness of the resort staff. We were on a business trip with a large number of people from all around the world, and the event was wonderfully organised by Diana. She was always reachable for help, was supportive in any way, and always kind and social to interact with. Both my partner and I are vegan, and the chef went out of his way to provide special vegan options for us every time. The general food for everyone was of very high quality, and still a lot of people were jealous constantly of the options we got. So a big thanks to the chef as well. And finally also special note for Jonathan, the greatest and most friendly barman ever, who took care of us until the early hours and was always ready to make some awesome cocktails. So definitely worth a visit in the area and a wonderful experience.

We arrived by plane, and I must say, that in itself, was very adventurous. I joined my partner there for a business trip. The hotel, it was a dream. The reception area is so beautiful and calm. It felt like a whole new world. Our room was so big and beautiful. Diana, the event manager, did an excellent job accommodating our group. Everything was just perfect. Her husband was the head chef and he did such a great job with all the dinners. Me and my partner are both vegan, and we had the best food there. We were never left out and had so much to choose from. Jonathan served the best drinks, and was so sweet. Our group did not make it easy for them, but they endured with a smile and kept the atmosphere light and fun.
