Gran Amadores

First holiday abroad for 4-5 years but this proved to be a lovely find. It is 'basic' in so far as the rooms (we had the room with two bedrooms) and there were a few 'tired' parts (1 bed in 2nd room was a bit rickety), patio door jammed a bit, toilet was a little temperamental too but just once or twice... as it turned out there was a water supply issue. In the 8 days were were there, there were three days where there was minor disruption with a water supply issue. Minor stuff though. B&B option was good value, as the breakfast is very wholesome. Fry up if you fancy, with a mug of tea... for days that is too much, a fruit platter with yoghurts or you can have a more continental style... he'll make you what you want and it's quite informal. It was very quiet in June 2023 so loads of space around the pool, which was also lovely. There was a little bit of night entertainment with Dermot, who was new there and did bingo, quizzes, karaoke, and generally had a giggle with everybody, as he was a lovely Irish fella. Happy Hour at the pool / evening bar is 24 hours! 2 for 1 morning, noon and night! The location is great with a short 500-600 metre walk to a lovely beach and beachfront shops, eating places etc. Walking down the hill, about 50 metres down there is a small water treatment works that on the particular week we were there, kicked up a little. Didn't disturb us in the complex but just hold your breath for as you walk by for 20 metres. I liked this place, it's a nice little, friendly hotel, some people I met there had been back year after year and loved it. I did try again to book a June break there but couldn't get availability for some reason, so in a day, I fly out and I'm the hotel right next to here. ps - Spar supermarket is dead handy, about 5-60 metres away.

We have been here lots of times over the years and had no probs but this year 2023 we were not told its a no smoking place we were given chairs by office to sit an smoke there its hard when u have trouble walking to get there So we have booked else where this year but tui needs to tell you if it's no smoking then you can change the place ur going to Like I said we had a good few years here pics of amadores

Booked a week here with TUI for a last-minute break during the school holidays, from 23rd July. The cost was high for a basic, self-catering holiday, but that was mainly due to the dates. Rooms: Basic and clean. Two single beds (one more comfortable than the other, I might add), and a sofa that was more comfy to lie on than either! Note: infant cots and high chairs are available on request. Sufficient cutlery, plates, bowls in kitchen for 4 people. Kettle, microwave, two electric rings and a working fridge/freezer. Corkscrew in kitchen drawer - used that often! 😄 Tv in living room, with a variety of different channels. Wi-Fi was available, but chargeable and I never managed to connect as (for some reason) you need access to the internet to apply for it! (Spot the flaw, here). Pretty much everywhere else has free Wi-Fi, so I found I didn’t need it in the hotel, anyway. The Room Safe was also a chargeable extra, (€15 payable, €5 returned) as was a fan (€20 payable, €10 returned deposit) as there is no air-conditioning. I still don’t understand why safes are an optional extra. Room safes are a necessity, surely! No-one goes on holiday and leaves their valuables, money, passport, etc. lying around! Millennials will, no doubt, say the same of Wi-Fi. There is a balcony with two chairs and a small table, which is perfect to sit and watch the sun go down over the beach, glass in hand! Pools: there are two pools, surrounded by adequate sun beds (though towels seemed to go out early!). I never used the pools, as the beach was so close and I prefer an active holiday to one that I can simulate with a sun lamp at home! Position: only a few hundred metres from the amazing Amadores Beach, with shops and restaurants, lovely, white sand, and crystal clear waters. The bus stop to Puerto de Mogàn (€1,55 each way) is right in front of the hotel, and the buses to Puerto Rico, Maspalomas and Playa del Inglés stop half-way between the hotel and the beach. Ideal as a base for cheap excursions round the island. Buses run regularly and are a clean, safe way to get around. Maspalomas has a zoo, water park, and acres of dunes containing sand blown over from the Sahara, I believe. Local Area: round the corner from a Spar shop, which has a larger variety of goods than the on-site shop. On the beachfront there is a flat (wheelchair/pushchair compatible) walkway (1050m) to Puerto Rico, if you enjoy a long walk with a beautiful view of the rocky coastline, lined with bougainvillea and cacti. It takes you to the port, where you can get on a glass-bottomed boat, go dolphin watching, banana boat riding and more. There are more restaurants, there, and it is a short walk to the main commercial centre, Macdonald’s, and the bus station. The bus back to Amadores is only €1,55 or taxis are available from around €5, if you don’t wish to walk back. Staff: the hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. Stayed at Gran Amadores Apartments 15-22 July 2023 (family of 2) as a post A-Level exam treat for my son. Reception staff extremely friendly & helpful with a swift & easy check-in. Trying something different, I chose a terrace room for this holiday rather than the usual balcony. We were allocated Room 121 which had a really nice view of the pool & surrounding area. Room was very spacious with separate bedroom & decent size kitchenette. Hob, cutlery, microwave, toaster & coffee maker are all provided but I’d advise you to bring along your own travel kettle. A wall mounted TV is located in the seating area with English channels available. The actual terrace is reasonably sized with a table & 2 chairs provided. Hotel pools & grounds are clean & well maintained. There is a snack bar/restaurant on site & the hotel also has its own mini-market (local Spar is just around the corner from the hotel). Every hour is happy hour at the bar! 2 large beers E 4.50. Food and drink are generally cheaper at the hotel than in the surrounding resort area. Bar staff are very pleasant & courteous. Amadores itself is beautiful with views to die for. Beach lounger prices are reasonable, E 12 will get you 2 x loungers & 1 x parasol. Beach is surrounded by plenty of bars/resautants with “Ciao Ciao” being our personal favourite. There is an amazing 1 km coastal walk to the nearby resort of Puerto Rico. We spent a lot of time flitting back & to between both resorts but there are plenty of buses & taxis available as the walk could be described as somewhat undulating! Also, if looking for a quieter beach; follow the car park (on the Amadores beach front) to its very western end & you can cut through to Playa de Taura – but bear in mind the beach has virtually no facilities - simply a nice quiet beach away from the bustle of Amadores. Overall we had a fantastic time at Gran Amadores Apartments & would not hesitate in using this hotel again on our next visit to Gran Canaria.

We had a lovely stay at Gran Amadores again.. Quick to check in when we arrived, reception staff all friendly and helpful, Our first week was nice and quiet, no one reserving sunbeds, cleaners were able to clean all pool area without people putting any towels done...1030am and still all sun loungers available! 2nd week got more busy, people reserving beds which there isn't a need to do... Apartment spacious, had everything you need for a self catering holiday, no problems Pool area clean and tidy, pool bar tidy, food reasonable priced, certain list of drinks 241 all day (cheaper to go to supermarket and get your own, keep in fridge) Beach not even 5 minutes walk away, bus stop outside, taxis available by beach or ask reception to ring one for you, Puerto Rico is a lovely walk round the promenade or €1.40 each on the bus No air con which is the downfall for this place, I would pay for air con, we took our own fan but doesn't make a difference really especially when temperatures got to mid 40s!! Fans available to rent from reception Our 2nd time here we will definitely be back

Amazing little place central to all locations, amazing beach. Clean rooms just a basic base to beauty went with my husband and returning in June with my family don’t hesitate it’s an excellent location .

Pro's - Good location and less hilly for Gran Canaria - Lovely reception and bar staff - never an issue getting a sunbed many were empty all day so no 6am towel on bed issues ! This was in half term too. - two decent size pools. - 10 min walk to a nice beach - on the beach are about 20 restaurants, most sell the same which is a shame but food all pretty good in several - right by the bus stops - taxi to Puerto Rico is only about 7 euros Con's - Old hotel needs tlc. - hotel owners need to invest in towels and pillows. The towels are old and like cardboard (could stand up on their own). Pillows were disgusting, best not to look one fell out of a pillow case, I wrapped ours in our beach towels at night. - be prepared to rent everything at additional cost, didn't bother us but many were not happy they had to rent a kettle which to be fair should really be included in a kitchen. - no hairdryer so take on or again you can rent it - no WIFI unless you pay 6 euros a day. I understand post covid people want to make up lost income but in this day and age no wifi or to have to pay for it is just not acceptable. - Bar has happy hour all day but watch the prices as 2 for 1 price in some drinks was actually more expensive than ordering 1 drink for less than half the price in a local bar (and they sneak the prices up over night too!) Overall we had a good week, for a low cost week away we would probably go back mainly because of the location and lovely beach

For a 2-star self-catering accommodation it is pretty good. Positives - The main living area/kitchen is large and opens onto a decent balcony with great views of the sea - we paid extra for a partial sea view room but from what we could ascertain, almost all the rooms are sea view. The bedroom is a good size but has twin beds - no doubles. Although it is very easy to push them together. The hotel is CLEAN! Regular cleaning of the pool area and rooms which are to a high standard. 2 good-sized pools, a smaller children's pool, and a spa pool. Always sunbeds available although lots of people reserve them very early in the morning, this is not needed. Bar and restaurant area serving 2 for 1 happy hour all day and eve. Very short walk to a fantastic beach with golden sand and a great swimming area. These are surrounded by lots of restaurants and mini-marts. Negatives - Our room was very tired! It has had an upgraded paint job but nothing else. Small amount of rust on the door of the fridge, a worn-out hob, and a water-damaged bathroom cabinet. The bathroom reminds me of school showers. Although adequate, in no way a luxury. Towels are like cardboard and there is no pool towel service so you need to bring your own or buy them there (buy from the beach shop, only 4 euros as opposed to 12 euros at the hotel) Food - We were self-catering but if I had been half board, I would not have been happy. The pool bar only really serves bar snacks and basic meals with no evening buffet selection. Spar shop next door has a great selection of food. NO AIRCON but can hire a fan. All in all, for a cheap 2* self-catering holiday, very close to a great beach, and an amazing view, can't really complain too much hence 4 out of 5. As long as it was a cheap price, I would consider going back due to location.

hi there we had a great time at the gran amadores we were there from the 10th sept for 10days but had to unfortunately I leave 4 days early due to a family member falling very ill emergency flight s back to Cornwall, no complaints at all ref hotel unfortunately our family member passed away before we could get back, we will be back soon to finish off our holiday, thanks all staff
