Sports Illustrated Resorts Marina and Villas Cap Cana - All-Inclusive

Definitely recommend this hotel if you’re looking for great food, a great time, pleasant amenities & great staff providing excellent service. Shout out to my guy Sopita for always lending a helping hand and attending to our every need. The pool, shows, and drinks were amazing.

Our vacation was great at Sports Illustrated resort. Italian restaurant was very tasty. Service throughout the entire resort is very friendly and welcoming. Pools are also full of fun animated by “Sopita”. Edwin from front desk made sure our needs exceeded expectations. Very well recommended resort!! 5/5 stars!!

Sapita has great energy by the pool, making all feel welcome to join in the fun. The dancers are awesome with some highly skilled tricks that will wow the audience. Jorgito at the bar serves up some great pina coladas. Play darts in a tournament to win cool prizes. Take an excursion for even more fun.

Our vacation at Sports Illustrated Punta Cap Cana was incredible! From the time we landed in the Dominican we had a driver waiting for us outside of customs to take our bags and transport us to the resort. Upon check in the entire friendly staff were waiting in the lobby to greet us to their beautiful resort and country. Amanda and Gal did a great job setting up all the logistics to make our stay as smooth as possible. Martin was a wonderful assistant to us our entire vacation and helped with any and all accommodations we needed from reservations for dinner events to the little day to day items such as ensuring we had cases of water, fruit charcutier, alcohol and even Pepto bismal in the room at all times! When lounging around the numerous pools we could always find the action by locating Sopito keeping it lively anywhere he was to be found. Wascor held down all the main dinner and dining events by ensuring table reservations, tracking down highchairs for our baby, and even bringing exquisite bottles of wine to truly make us feel like VIPs on our stay. Many other shoutouts to the entire staff as everyone was above and beyond friendly, (especially with littles ones) such as Tony, Amanda, Sandy, Jemila, Elisa, Analise, Rafael, Oliver, Olena and Miguel. These were just a couple of the waitstaff we could give a shoutout to but honestly EVERYONE was great and courteous. Couldn’t have enjoyed my time here enough, already planning my next trip back. The only negative I have is that we couldn’t have stayed longer than we already did! Book this vacation ASAP!

A great campus! Lots of beautiful buildings and pools. Promising construction for even more in the future. Sandy, Reuben really served us with distinction! The restaurants were full of interesting and delicious choices like pumpkin and onions, sausage, fish, cheeses, drinks, and desserts.

Don't go!! It is a HAS BEEN. Very old and NOTHING TO DO. They have two nice pools and most of the food is free (buffets). More like frozen food heated. No beach, you have to take a shuttle to the beach and it is nice but not there, The grounds are pretty and the people are nice but NOTHING TO DO!!!

Sports Illustrated bought this resort in 2023 and is in the process of trying to build out new units, upgrade old ones, and sell newly-created retail space. It's part of their attempt to grow into a "lifestyle brand" and get away from being just a magazine as that market sector dwindles. The vision is a beautiful walkable old town look and feel, but the resort currently resembles a very pretty ghost town with lots of empty retail space and only a couple restaurants open due to low occupancy of units. We stayed here on a timeshare marketing package, but also paid regular price ($600/night) to extend a couple extra days for a full week. It appears that the units allocated for timeshare marketing packages are in a less-maintained section of the resort. We were offered to move into the nicer area for our last 2 days but declined, as it wasn't worth it to move everything for 2 nights. Once we were paying full price, we also found that opened up other options like the beach was no longer $25 for the food/drink package, etc. Timeshare tour folks should assume they will be a bit of a "second-class citizen" in exchange for the good deal on 4-5 nights. It's still a good deal. The timeshare presentation itself was advertised as 2 hrs but took a full 4 hrs including the breakfast. All of our complaints are within our unit itself and the lack of maintenance on the infrastructure. The rooms are spacious and well-appointed with comfortable beds. All appears well at first glance but the plumbing/drainage infrastructure was either built poorly or has been horrible maintained. Right away we noticed that 1 of the 2 bathroom sinks (absolutely beautiful stone sinks BTW) was draining right onto the floor. I started using the sink in the (very nicely-appointed) kitchenette, but then the faucet literally popped off when water pressure went thru it. I could see it had been hastily repaired the last time. I reported the maintenance issues the first evening at the front desk (using Google Translator as most of the service staff do not speak much English). By Day 2 nothing had been done on the sinks, and it had rained so I now knew that the patio drain was also clogged as we had 2 in of water on the patio about to come over the sliding glass door entryway. I again requested maintenance, and they sent a guy who could not fix the drain (had ony a stick and plunger as tools) but did squeegee the water off at least, but then left without fixing either sink. I went down to request maintenance again (language barrier making things hard) but no one ever showed to fix the sinks. Since we had one working sink I gave up at that point. The units have good working A/C but - assume in a cost-saving measure - the A/C only appears to run 7:30 am to 7:30 pm and there is no way to control A/C from the unit. That made sleeping a bit difficult a few nights. But in the interest of total fairness, all the above STILL didn't totally ruin the vacation. Weather was great - sunny, hot & humid -

Damaris the bartender was so very pleasant and Duracell the activities guy was amazing and had so much energy! The resort was nice and quiet. Onna the activity schedule person was also so very pleasant and helpful. Definitely would return for a nice quiet getaway.

Just came back very disappointed, I went my wife and 2 little girls (4 and 2 years old) they charged me 100$ for a table decoration that accidentally fell down on the same table and got broken without purpose by the little baby when she touch it, they were keeping us in stress for 3 days without telling us whether or not they will charge us for this, this happened at lobby not even in our room, I think they are taking advantage of this to over charge their customers and get extra income of this. The resort is not bad is a very interesting old village concept very organized, huge rooms well equipped with all home appliances, kitchen, with nice terrace, they have elevators, not all works but some do, we got an upgrade I appreciated that our room was like an apar**ent very spacious, however we could not use the bathup as it was licking and flooding under and never fixed, and the fridge never got cold. The resort is staring and needs lot of more entertainment, missing shows missing live music, more restaurants, more happy environment around There is not beachfront which is ok but at least the resort should include all meals drinks and snack service at the beach they have access to which is Playa Juanillo (Beautiful beach white sand clear and calm turquoise water) they charge 75$ per adult per day and 25$ per kid per day to have all inclusive at the beach. We were not able to enjoy at the beach more than 2 hours and back to hotel with the shuttle. The driver Sandy is a great man very helpful and friendly The staff in general is excellent, in the restaurant Antonil, la Chama and most are awesome people make you feel at home like a warm family. The food and drinks were great no complains, good whisky! Other than than that after having some relaxing days that issue at very last that they made us pay they over charge me for something was not that high I would never do that to my guest is very cheap attitude to change you for a broken glass or dish for example. They could have us as a future customers but I personally will never go back so sorry. I attached the photo of the broken thing my girl touched and fell on table by mistake and I was charged 100US$ for this cash :(
