My husband and I just retuned from celebrating our ten year wedding anniversary this evening and I’ve never been more in a rush to write a review so I forget nothing. We stayed 5 days & 4 nights and let me tell you, we’ve stayed in St Regis, JW Marriott, and many other 5 star resorts around the world- but after this last week Sanctuary has our hearts. First I’ll start with the property. This was our first time in the DR and when I tell you the grounds are beautiful from every view, with pools, lounge places galore, plenty of gorgeous ocean views, the resort itself is impeccable and stunning. We stayed in a honeymoon suite in the castle and it was the most beautiful and spacious and gorgeous accommodations for such a celebration. With a large patio with our own private pool and view of the ocean, a large bedroom and sitting area & a bathroom big enough for two to not even know both are inside, the suite was gorgeous. Service: hands down the BEST service we have ever experienced. Because we stayed in the castle we had a butler, and Juan (“Yoan”) was amazing. He was like our best friend, helped us make all of our dinner plans and reservations for the week. Had special surprises for us on our anniversary evening, ensured every second of our stay we were taken care of and good, took us to dinner every night, helped us add to our spa reservations, he was the BEST. We even texted him one night when it started raining to ask if he had an umbrella and it was like he was already on his way to us and our evening wasn’t interrupted by the weather in the slightest. When we come back it will surely mostly be because of him and the amazing time he showed us, we were so so thankful for him! Everyone else around the property, from the bartenders and waiters and hostesses and waitresses were fabulous. Everyone was so kind and accommodating and amazing. The only person who was a little less than was the woman at the coffee shop Saturday morning before we left, but we chalked her coldness up to perhaps a long Friday evening and being a bit cranky the next morning. Otherwise, Jose at the pool was fabulous and had a spot for us ready everyday, and everyone else we encountered was a dream! Everyday our room was cleaned beautifully and refresh service at nighttime was wonderful and so appreciated! Food/Drinks: The Sanctuary had amazing food and beverage and probably at the top of an AI resort! The Italian restaurant with its burrata and squid ink risotto was a fave, along with the ribeye from the steakhouse and the pizza/sushi from sanctuary town. All of the drinks were incredible, our go to’s for the week were: welcome drink (coconut lemonade) with rum, gin and tonics with lime, caiprinhias, dirty gin martinis, and margaritas. Overall we had the BEST time, there wasn’t a second we did not enjoy ourselves and left feeling so relaxed and unwound. my husband and I celebrated our 25th anniversary as well as an important birthday! This resort had the right balance of quiet, chill, and serene and fun and energy! we did a couples massage package which was really wonderful Ns worth it. Katherine massage therapist was amazing! The beach front of the resort isn't super great but if you walk about 1/4 mile to the left of the resort the beach front is much cleaner, clearer and blue, it was better for swimming:) but the many pools ar the resort made us just want to stay put actually. Would totally come back! The Italian restaurant was wonderful!

We went for six days and five nights and had the most amazing time. We booked a terrace suite room and got upgraded to the oceanfront villa. Our Butler Eric was amazing and we never went without. He is top-notch and fantastic and made our trip. Nancy, the housekeeper attendant was phenomenal. Very personal spoke to us every day. I made sure that we had everything we needed! Staff throughout the property was amazing. Juan Alberto was especially sweet with our children and very attentive our needs. So was Yaniris and chef Jonathan. My husband is a Marriott titanium member and we will definitely be back to this property again.

My husband and I visited this resort for our 8th anniversary. We booked an ocean view Castle Junior Suite. Upon arrival, we had a piece of Black Forest cake, Dominican Cacao, and bottle of Mamajuana waiting in our room to celebrate. Our butler was Eric, and he was the BEST! He took us on a tour of the resort, and alerted us daily of activities and restaurant selections available. He was available via What’s App for any concerns or questions we had. As stated in other reviews, the beach is not clear blue water, but we knew that going in. I grew up going to “dirty Myrtle” so it wasn’t an issue for me. The seaweed is better on some days than others, but they have a crew that works their tails off raking the beach and trying to contain it. I also suggest water shoes and small steps because upon entry there are some large rocks and dips, but once you get out a bit, it is no longer an issue. The pool areas are great, and there are several to choose from. Someone was always willing to grab your towels and get you set up in a nice spot. Drink service was on point, we never had to wait long between rounds. Although tips are “included”, I would suggest bringing a little extra for that. I saw how hard the employees work, most in long pants in incredible heat and humidity. I would rate the restaurants 4/5. The first night at Blue Marlin was not good. I think our order was lost in translation. I put that on myself, for visiting a country where I don’t speak the language. I could have used Google translate. I would suggest that if it seems you are not being understood. I won’t name the waiter because again, that’s on me. In contrast, Bladimir and Danny as servers at the Steakhouse were great. That was our favorite restaurant so we ate there twice. We also had a nice dinner at Capriccio. The Casabella lunch buffet had a nice daily lunch selection, and you can also visit the smaller restaurants in Sanctuary Town, a small area across from the main hotel which has pizza, sushi, beer, and ice cream/sweets. The Wok was closed on our visit so we did not get to try that. Overall, there is a large selection to choose from and room service is available 24 hours with a $10 service fee. We enjoyed our first stay in DR, and would definitely consider rebooking this resort on a return trip.

Sanctuary Cap Cana was beyond our expectations. From the moment we got there to the moment we weren’t ready to leave. All the staff we interacted with was respectful, polite and accommodating just to state a few. We are horrible with names but happy boy stood out, Elvi and others at the pool area. All our servers, dance instructor and yoga instructor were all amazing. Our butler Angel’s efforts and dedication to our needs was the perfect compliment to our week of royalty staying in our castle on the beach. He was very helpful in solving problems, getting us reservations, attending to our special requests and in being there with his golf cart when we most needed a quick ride. I highly recommend Angel and Sanctuary in general. The staff overall was also very polite, attentive and above all friendly and helpful. We hope to return.

This resort was a dream come true! Beyond relaxing and felt well taken care of during our stay. Miguel, our butler made sure everything was all set and with his daily check ins and making sure our new room was perfect! The spa was a lovely couples experience along with the hydrotherapy time. Felix and Oscar were the go to guys at the pool making sure the towels and chairs were ready and drinks were fresh!!! All of the staff at the buffet were super helpful and courteous- especially Bladimir! Staying at the castle was a great experience and enjoyed the pool options available along with the views. Would love to return for a future couples getaway!!!
