We’re at a stage in our life where we are fortunate enough to be able to travel a lot and stay in some really wonderful hotels. That said, I can honestly say that this is the best hotel we have ever stayed in, ranking quite some way ahead of many other 5-star hotels. It really is LUX in every sense of the word. I’ve said many times that it’s all well and good having a wonderful hotel but it’s the staff that really make the difference. At the Lux Belle Mare, the staff are the best there are. Regardless of whether they are the cleaners, housekeepers, bar staff, restaurant staff, chefs, front desk, junior or senior managers, gym trainers or wellness staff, EVERYONE makes you feel welcome and will engage you in conversation to ensure that everything about your stay is just perfect. Nothing is too much for them. Our room (we stayed in a Junior Suite overlooking the gardens) was absolutely spotless. The gardens are lovely and very well kept. The family atmosphere is really warming. Apart from the pool there are at least three other sun lounge areas on the wonderful beach. As there are way more sun loungers than guests, there was never a shortage of beds even though the hotel was full during our stay. The food in Mondo, the signature buffet restaurant, is delicious (although a couple of nights it lacked a big hitting veg main dish) and Beach Rouge is highly recommended (especially the mushroom and truffle pizza). Being veggies we didn’t eat in The Duck Laundry because it’s not really veggie-friendly. We did however eat in Amari by Vineet (who by chance was visiting whilst we were there) and, I hate to say this, but we found it a bit disappointing! The veg starter and pudding were stupendous but the veg mains were actually quite normal – sorry Vineet! We’ve wracked our brains to come up with ‘an improvement’ and all we can think of is that a magnifying mirror in the bathroom would be useful. Realistically you cannot want for anything else. No matter where we went, no matter what we did, we found the staff engaging and attentive.
